save our snorunts event log

Who: Everyone!
When: January 2-26
Where: Practically everywhere. Maybe not the volcano on Cinnabar Island.
What: Save those Snorunts!
OOC Info: here!

The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?

It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.

But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)

In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

“Yikes, this is way more serious than I was anticipating,” Isabela mutters to herself as soon as she and her Ponyta Antonio encounter very sick Snorunts on their path as they had a walk around Olivine City early into January.

She looks on in concern as she witnesses the Snorunts being unable to function well while down with the illness. She proceeds to pull out whatever medicine she has in her bag at this time and tries to administer them to the ill Ice Pokémon. Although she could sure use some assistance to take them to the city’s Pokémon Center right about now.

“Oh how am I going to bring you all to the Center? I really need a lot of help to take you to Nurse Joy as soon as possible.”

Ulaz had decided to leave for a time to try and find sick Pokemon to bring back. He had taken Bet, his Corviknight, out to try and scout the area, since luckily Snorunts were not white and could at least be seen at a bit of distance. It did also help that there was a Ponyta on the route since it gave Bet any idea of where was safe to land.

At least the Corviknight was polite enough to leave a generous space so as to - hopefully - not be threatening.

Ulaz frowned as he slid down from Corviknight and moved closer.

"I was not aware there were this many of them out here." He gave Isabela a nod in greeting. "Perhaps we can try to come up with a way to transport them."

Thank goodness help is on the way when she sees Ulaz and Bet making a landing near where she and Antonio are at with the sick Snorunts. For a moment, she thought that it will be very hard for her to gather as many as Snorunts as she could carry into her arms and rush them to the Center but now with some help, it won’t be such a burden on her for long.

“Me neither. There are so many of them it might take days to gather a good chunk of them and take them to the Pokémon Center fast enough,” Isabela admits to him as she tries to quell the cries of the sick Snorunt.

Antonio neighs in agreement, he was starting to worry that he alone could not be enough to bring many Snorunts without falling into exhaustion. Isabela takes a moment to regroup her thoughts before speaking again.

“Yeah, I think that we’re going to need a better way to transport all of these guys to the Center. Maybe like a carriage or sledge perhaps.”

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-01-27 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Bet followed Ulaz over, more carefully picking his way since he was a very large bird and Snorunts were significantly smaller, even if he did have very good eye sight.

"Indeed. I have been able to grab a few at time with Bet, but this more than would be possible or safe."

He could barely hold on with only a few of them which wasn't exactly the smartest idea, but this was way beyond even that. A whole field of sick Snorunts, like they had all been trying to go in that direction, was more than two people could manage.

Ulaz was already considering the possibility when she spoke. "Yes, I think that might be the best option. We could retrieve a sled which should make it easier for your Ponyta to be able to transport several. If we could borrow essentially a large basket, then Bet could transport a large number at a time."

Basket... cart... small car... anything that he could grip onto and still be able to get into the air while it was filled with Snorunts.

Antonio walks around to find something that all of them can use to bring the Snorunts without putting themselves into further burden. The Ponyta must be on something as he lets a whine like neigh to inform Isabela that he has found a nearby sledge and some baskets lying around on the sidewalk.

Isa makes a quick run to the sledge and a basket on top of it. She could see upon further inspection that the latter are big enough for Bet to carry around and ferry the Snorunts in. The two carry the two items in question and bring over them for Ulaz to check on as well.

“I’m not sure how these things got left behind in here earlier, but I think that we can use these to bring these Snorunts to the Center in no time,” Isabela reveals to them.

Ulaz glanced over as the Ponyta let them know it had found something. Bet was always looking too. While Isabela went over to assist with retrieving the items, Ulaz pulled out some of the medicine that he had and was administering it to the nearest Snorunts.

"I'm not sure either, but those seem to be perfect for what we need. In this case, their lose is the Snorunt's gain."

Ulaz picked up the basket and set it down near Bet who took a few moments to assess it, picking it up by the handle with his beak, moving it to another spot, bringing one foot up to see if his talons would be fine with it. When it seemed to pass the test, Ulaz nodded.

"I think both of these will do nicely. That was an excellent find." This he said to Antonio since credit should be given where credit is due.

And since he hasn't introduced himself yet. "I am Ulaz and this is Bet, my Corviknight."

[personal profile] senorita_perfecta 2025-01-29 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Isabela can see why as she nods in response. No one hasn’t come to claim either item at this time and loads of people are probably too busy trying to attend to the Snorunts to pay this much attention to lost items immediately.

Antonio neighs happily in return, he is happy to be of any help especially when it comes to locating items that he feels anyone can use during times of need. Isabela begins to gather some of the Snorunts in her arms and place them on the sledge while also being mindful to avoid the sneezes.

“Sno-RUNT!” one Snorunt sneezes as she picks them up from the ground.

“Oh dear, bless you, little one,” Isabela pardon them while trying to turn her head away from the sneeze momentarily.

Isabela nods in a polite manner before she gets her turn to introduce herself and her Ponyta, “It is quite a honor to meet you, Ulaz, Bet. My name is Isabela and this here is Antonio the Ponyta.”

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-01-31 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
It did make sense in that regard. If everyone was too busy, they might forget about such things trying to avoid the Snorunts and then not come back for them.

"It is nice to meet you as well. I wish that wasn't during such difficult circumstances for our small friends here."

But they would get them taken care of.

Ulaz was also gathering Snorunts as well, starting to carefully place them in the basket so everyone had room to sit comfortably... or at least as comfortably as possible. Bet for the moment was settling in to wait. He was too big to help with retrieving. Though he might have had a Snorunt or two who was still more mobile come and lean against him while they waited for their turn to either be put on the sledge or in the basket. Comfy bird friend.

One of the Snorunts leaning against Bet also sneezed "Sno-RUNT!" and it sounded like Bet might have said the Corviknight version of "Bless you" in response.

"Bless you. We will soon get you back to the Pokemon Center so they can help." Ulaz picked up another Snorunt and settled it in the basket. "Unfortunately I am not knowledgeable enough of Pokemon illnesses to be of much help in this situation."

[personal profile] senorita_perfecta 2025-02-01 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
“Neither do I know too,” Isabela also chimes in as she gently puts the Snorunts on the sledge before returning to gather a few more, “But don’t worry though. The people in the Pokémon Center will take good care of you. They’ll know what to do in times like this.”

Antonio also has some of these Snorunts who are still able to move around a bit sitting on his back once she lets them to ride on him and tells them to hang on when they head towards the Pokémon Center. The Ponyta also says his take of ‘Bless you’ when another Snorunt involuntarily sneezes as well, “Sno-RUNT!”

She does look around if there are some more Snorunts that she and Ulaz might need to go back and gather up for later. And sure there are still more out there waiting to be taken to the Center as well.

There are a couple of more at the moment but unfortunately space is a precious resource that is limited at this time. They will need to wait for them while they are bringing the Snorunts they have gathered to the Pokémon Center.

Ulaz finished loading as many Snorunts as he could into the basket, including the ones leaning on Bet since they were liable to fall over if he didn't move them when Bet stood up. There were just too many of them for one trip.

"It looks like we can only take so many, but we will be back shortly in order to help the rest of you to the Pokemon Center."

He was trying to reassure the Snorunts that they weren't being left behind. He would definitely come back to get more of them.

Then he looked over at Isabela. "We can take the group that we have and return to get the rest of them."

Bet stood up again, ready to assist. He was going to have to get airborne first in order to pick up the basket so he was waiting for Ulaz to climb on and to be given the signal to move.

“I can agree with that. There are still plenty of them that we can go back to rescuing later as soon as we are done with bringing the first batch of them to the Pokémon Center,” Isabela chimes in as she secures the last of the Snorunts she has found onto the sledge.

Antonio lets out a whinny to let them know that it is about time to bring the Snorunts to the Center. With his back occupied, Isabela is going to walk on foot, a trade off she is willing to go with.

“Okay now that the first batch is ready, we should head to the Center right away,” she speaks up as she begins leading Antonio and the Snorunts towards the Pokémon Center.
scalpelofmarmora: (here's the plan)

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-02-07 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course. We will be back."

Ulaz decided, since Isabela was going to walk on foot, he would as well. It be better to keep her company. Also he could carry a few more Snorunts as well if he was walking.

"Bet," he said as he picked up those Snorunts. He didn't say the command, but gave Bet a hand signal and he would start walking with Isabela and Antonio towards the Pokemon Center.

If they were to look back, Bet wandered a bit away from the basket with Snorunts, but that was only to be able to get air without disturbing them much. Once airborne, Bet flew over to the basket and in one motion, picked it up with his talons and off he went, leading the way.

"It is difficult for him to go slowly," Ulaz explained as Bet left them behind. "He'll wait for us at the Pokemon Center."

[personal profile] senorita_perfecta 2025-02-08 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
“That is very understandable. Thankfully we are not going to rush the rescue for the safety and well being of the Snorunts.”

To be honest, she couldn’t blame Bet for needing to take some time to get himself and the Snorunts to the skies. Carrying plenty of small Pokémon in a basket while in the air takes a lot of effort and, since they are in no rush to hurry, she is more than happy to wait for all of them to catch up. The Snorunts’ medical well being is of the utmost importance after all.

Antonio, being mindful of this, adjusts his walking speed as not to give the Snorunts a hard time as Isabela leads the way to the Pokémon Center. She would look behind her back once in a while to see if everyone is still there and to make sure that no one gets left behind, Snorunt or otherwise.

Eventually most of the group could see the Pokémon Center coming into view and gathered at the entrance, awaiting for Bet and the basket of Snorunts to land and meet up with them.

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-02-09 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes. It would be good to get them back, but there doesn't seem to be an immediate requirement." So the others could wait a little bit.

Ulaz walked alongside, shivering Snorunts in his arms. Luckily, they would be at the Pokemon Center soon and could get them taken care of. It take more coordination on Bet's part, but he had done similar things before so Ulaz was not concerned about Bet not being at his side.

As they arrived at the Pokemon Center, Bet would finally come in to land, having been unintentionally giving the Snorunts in the basket a lovely aerial tour of the city... if they were well enough to enjoy it. Ulaz would first, carefully, hand the two Snorunts he was carrying to those who were helping with the care of the sick Pokemon and then move to help Bet by half-taking the basket, half-guiding it down, so Bet could place it and release it to land.

Since the workers were coming to help with the basket of Snorunts, Ulaz returned to the sledge. "I'll let help with unloading these ones."

“That is great to hear, Ulaz. We should be able to drop these guys off to the people at the Center in no time and make it easier on them to check on their well being,” Isabela nods as she hands over the Snorunts to some of the volunteers herself.

Antonio neighs as he allows other volunteers to retrieve the Snorunts from his back, gently reminding them every once in a while to be careful in holding and carrying them. Isabela also joins in unloading the shivering Snorunts from the sledge as well, being mindful not to get her hands frozen by accident as she carries some in her arms before passing them to one local volunteer.

"Yes. Hopefully they can get taken care of properly now." Medicine only did so much and was more useful in the wild when something immediate was needed, but wouldn't help long term.

Bet settled in to rest for a bit since he had been flying around that whole time with the basket of Snorunts. Ulaz would help with unloading the Snorunts and getting them to people who could help them better.

"There weren't that many left. I think between the both of us, we should be able to get all of them with one more trip."

“I thought so as well,” she chimes in as she hands over the last of the Snorunts she gathered to the volunteers, “And thankfully we’re not the only ones doing our part to help these little guys. While we were on our way here, I have seen other people scrambling to get several of them to the Pokémon Center or nearby clinics as fast as they can.”

Antonio whines once more as he takes a moment to take a rest after all the Snorunts have been gathered up. The Ponyta wonders how the sickness could have affected an entire line of Pokémon that easily.

“Okay, don’t worry Antonio. We’ll find as many as Snorunts as we can after you get some rest. We shouldn’t overwork ourselves too much though, other folks are also doing their best to help too.”
scalpelofmarmora: (behind him)

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-02-28 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Ulaz nodded. "Yes, it is also important to not strain ourselves. If you need a moment to rest before we head back out, we can."

Bet was still sitting there waiting patiently for when he was needed.

"There are a lot of people helping. I was honestly not aware there were this any Snorunts in this area."

“I’m just as surprised to see this many Snorunts in this city as well. To be honest, I was expecting them to be more commonly found in smaller towns and in the wilderness,” Isabela chimes in as she gently pets Antonio, mindful not to get too close to his fiery mane.

She also thinks that taking a moment to rest up before going back for the Snorunts would be good for their energy as not to put too much stress onto them too, “Certainly. I could sure use this time to rest up before heading back outside to retrieve more Snorunts again.”
scalpelofmarmora: (human!Ulaz)

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-03-03 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed. I wonder if they are moving closer to the city because that is where the Pokemon Centers are and they know instinctively they will get help at them."

Ulaz was always impressed with the Pokemon that looked like they were actively on fire. It was very interesting. Ponyta and Rapidash were obviously included in that.

"Shall we take a short break to get any food or beverage we might need after being out in the cold and reconvene shortly?"
senorita_perfecta: (Smiling)

[personal profile] senorita_perfecta 2025-03-04 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
“Yes of course. Wouldn’t hurt to get something to eat and recharge our energy after spending some time rescuing Snorunts in the snow,” Isabela happily replies as Antonio neighs in unison.

She hasn’t eaten anything notable since the early morning before she and Antonio went out outside and encountered the sick Snorunts so she is more than happy to get some food right about now. It is never fun to go about one’s day with an empty stomach, especially when there are Snorunts who are in need of medical help.
scalpelofmarmora: (behind him)

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-03-05 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"It would not. It is difficult to take care of others if you are not taking care of yourself."

Yes, if he knew that she hadn't eaten for a while, he would certainly insist on getting food. Food was important. Bet was well aware of this as well since he was wandering in the direction of someone who might be willing to given him food.

[personal profile] senorita_perfecta 2025-03-06 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Isabela hasn’t forgotten how easy it is to be neglectful of one’s needs while trying to look after others. She has often sacrificed her own desires and dreams in the service of the encanto for almost her entire life and Luisa often not getting enough rest while carrying out errands before Mirabel’s intervention.

“Understood, let’s head inside and get some food right away.”

Antonio whines in agreement as he lifts his hind legs in response, he is also looking forward to getting some food to eat too.
scalpelofmarmora: (behind him)

[personal profile] scalpelofmarmora 2025-03-09 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ulaz could also sympathize with that. There was much about his life he had done out of obligation, including some things that he would have rather not done, but had been required to at the time. Here he had less obligations which meant he was able to use it to care of the Pokemon of this world.

"Agreed."

As Ulaz started to head inside, Bet would follow him since his trainer was going that way, but Bet would be nice and let Isabela and Antonio go in first. He was a very large bird who understood his height thanks to Ulaz.

Without saying a word, Isabela leads Antonio into the building, the Ponyta dutifully follows after her. Upon entering the Center, she could the cafeteria area not far away from the entrance. But she wants to wait for her companions to enter the interior first before going to the cafeteria right away.

After they got inside, they await for Ulaz and Bet to come inside so they can all go together and have a break as a team.
