The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?

It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.

But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)

In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

Radley's Eevees definitely seem less wriggly than some of Min and Ryan's Pokémon that need a hand. Not that they're all poorly behaved, but with someone else's Pokémon he'd been bracing himself for at least a little mischief.

"On my team? Corviknight. We don't even try washing Red indoors. Ryan has an Orthworm and he's even bigger than she is. Thankfully they don't mind even if the weather is a little colder."

At just under 7' Blitz, Xandadu, and especially Beat who needs a hand are all awkward, but still possible.

The Eevees are definitely well-behaved! But they also love to play, and they're soon swimming again after being shampooed.

"An Orthworm, huh? Did he get that when they were running all over the place?"

That is not a happy memory for Radley.

It's a pretty uncomfortable memory for Min-Gi too, but at least they got Dune out of it. He nods, letting the Eevee he'd soaped up go and moving onto the next Pokémon to swim by him.

"Riz helped us catch him. He was a tough catch, but Dune's really settled in."

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, I'll bet that was tough," Radley agrees. "Good to hear it's working out, though. Is he friendly?"

He certainly hadn't wanted one of the worms.

The Eevees swim around while Sammy just lounges. Finally Radley starts trying to rinse off the remaining shampoo.

"Super friendly," Min tells him, which isn't what he expected when Ryan had decided to catch him. "He's always happy."

"I don't think you could ask for a friendlier Pokémon."

[crystalmaster]

"Wow. That's pretty cute," Radley has to admit.

"Eevee-vee!" Evie exclaims, popping up at the side of the tub.

Radley chuckles. "I think Evie wants to meet him now."

"Vee!" says Evie.

Min laughs, ruffling her fur.

"I don't have him with me," he tells her. Which is kind of an odd thing to say about a Pokémon that's not his own, but his and Ryan's teams are so intertwined it's not totally out there for them to be taking care of one that technically isn't registered to them.

"Maybe if you guys are ever over in Kanto you could."

Or if they ever start making more than occasional trips over to Johto.

Evie looks hopefully to Radley. "Vee?"

Radley chuckles. "We'll have to see. Maybe if Prom's in Kanto again this year. If we went over there otherwise, I'm guessing we'd have to start at Pallet Town and travel from town to town like when we started here?"

He shakes his head, leaning on the side of the tub.

"If you take the train to Saffron you can get to the surrounding cities pretty easily," he tells him. "But you should probably wait until the weather warms up. It still takes a couple of days."

And camping in the cold is never fun.

[crystalmaster]

"That's good to know," Radley says. "We'll definitely plan on it when things get warmed up."

Evie cheers.

Radley starts lifting her and others out of the tub to get dried off. "What town are you staying in?"

That had gone quickly, considering the amount of Pokémon. Not to mention just how much flour had been caked onto them. Min picks up an extra towel, helping to dry them off. It's been quick, but he might as well while he's here. Radley does have a business to get back to, after all.

"We're in Vermilion," he answers, thinking back to the house they have there. "We travel around for work or whatever, but thanks to the warps we don't usually have to be away for long."

There's still a couple of others that might require a little more work.

He smiles gratefully at the help.

"Cool. That's one of the bigger Kanto towns, isn't it?"

He thinks he remembers that from playing Yellow.

Min thinks it over, then settles on a non-committed shrug.

"Big enough," he tells him. "Saffron and Celadon beat it out by a fair bit."

[crystalmaster]

“Oh yeah, true,” he muses. “Have you been to the Celadon Department Store?” He supposes it’s similar to Goldenrod’s.

"Yeah, it's pretty much like Goldenrod's," he tells him, answering his unasked question.

"It's only a couple of warps away, so it's great for anything you can't get from one of the regular stores."

[crystalmaster]

"Cool. Yeah, we go to the Goldenrod one a lot," Radley says as he finishes scrubbing the remaining flour off of another Eevee. "There's always something new to see."

He hopes to build a department store in his town if he ever goes home.

"Makes sense. It's right nearby."

Of course there are plenty of other options, but Min can't deny the convenience of having everything all in one big building. With the towel ready, he scoops the freshly cleaned Eevee out of the tub to give it a dry.

Radley smiles and nods. "I really like living in a city. Back home, I lived in a pretty small place."

The Eevee chirps happily in gratitude.

"Me too. Back when we actually lived somewhere."

Not that he sounds displeased by that. He gives the Eevee's headfur a ruffle, smiling slighlty.

[crystalmaster]

The Eevee purrs, nuzzling his hand.

“Were you on that train a long time?” Radley vaguely remembers being told about that.

[outofsynth]

"A while, but we went touring after that," he explains. "It's not like we could keep a place without any quick way of getting from town to town."

They hadn't originally been planning to settle when they'd took a place in Vermilion, but it's nice and a pretty central location. It's not a bad place to warp from town to town from.

[crystalmaster]

"It's great you guys have been able to get your band going here," Radley smiles. "You're good."

Evie chirps. She likes their songs too!

It is great. He'd been happy back when they'd been unknowns without so much as a demo tape trying to convince places to let them play, but this is better. Much closer to what he'd dreamed of back when they were kids. It's impossible not to smile.

"Thanks. I wasn't so sure at first, but we've had some lucky breaks here."

[crystalmaster]

"You really have. I'm happy for you. I'd still love to have you guys play at the cafe, but you're probably getting much bigger gigs than that now."

Min laughs, shaking his head. They could probably try (and their producers have definitely encouraged them) to go for bigger gigs, but they've only just released their first album and while Min-Gi's come a long way in overcoming his stage fright he's unsure how much he'll be pushing it if they get too ambitious.

"We don't really go for bigger venues," he admits with a shrug. "We've been thinking about working about getting a bigger Johto fanbase though. Kanto's just been easier since we can get pretty much anywhere."

The warps are great once they get them, but without having visited somewhere beforehand it can be a much bigger effort without their van.
