The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?

It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.

But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)

In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

Radley would hope she would be staying, if he was told about her. He's reminded of Irkut too.

"I'd like to think that too," he agreed.

He watched the Espurr. "So, does she have a name yet?" he wondered, knowing how thoughtful Ulaz was with names.

"She does not. I had not decided on one in case someone wanted to take her. However, it seems like she and Irkut are attached. So I have a feeling she will probably be staying."

Watching as she continued to try and fluff herself.

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, it seems like it'd be too sad to take her away now," Radley said. He knew he wouldn't have the heart to in such a situation.

[scalpelofmarmora]

"Agreed. They are very much a father and daughter. As much as she should go out on her own with her own trainer, they have become close and that will make it more difficult now."

It was easier when they were still relatively newly hatched. She was older and of course, Irkut had taken her under his wing so to speak.

"I'm sure she'd be happier staying on," Radley said. He didn't think a Pokemon needed to go off on their own unless that was what they'd be happier doing. "I've got quite a few Pokemon who hatched from eggs that stayed on."

"Vee!" said Evie, happily watching the fluffing.

"I think she would as well. Irkut would like it as well. I will probably have to think of a name for her then."

Fluffing complete! How did she do? She squeaked.

[crystalmaster]

"We'll look forward to what you come up with," Radley smiled.

Evie cheered. Very fluffy!

[scalpelofmarmora]

"Thank you. I will be sure to let you know."

The Espurr was so happy that Evie thought her fluffing attempt was successful that she first showed Irkut and then came over to show the two trainers. Ta da!

"Very nice, little one."

Radley had to smile. How cute!

"You did a beautiful job, Honey," he said to her.

The Espurr was very happy at being praised and went running back over to Evie and Irkut as fast as her little legs would take her.

"Yes, I think she will most definitely be staying. What do you think of Lalli as a possible name?"

[crystalmaster]

Evie cheered.

"That's a pretty name," Radley said. "What does it mean?"

"It is another way of saying 'full moon'. She does seem rather bright."

[crystalmaster]

"That's a beautiful name," Radley smiled, and Evie warbled agreement.

[scalpelofmarmora]

"I try to come up with something meaningful for my Pokemon. It seemed strange to just call them by what they are. Most people don't know my language so they aren't aware."

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, it's really cool how you do that," Radley said. "I don't get just calling them by their species either. Although I kinda did that with Evie," he sheepishly laughed. "Her name really seemed to suit her, though; it means 'life.' And she loves life."

Evie chirped happily. She did!

"Well, you do spell it differently. Even if it pronounced the same. I will admit that 'Eevee' does sound nicer to call them by than some of the other names of the species."

So it did suit her well.

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, that's true. I think at first I was kinda thinking of it just being the species name, but then I realized it could be like the given name back home. 'Eevee' really seems to fit the whole species. They all seem to love life a lot." He smiled.

[scalpelofmarmora]

"Depending your language, a lot of them might be similar to names back home."

And here comes the newly dubbed Lalli, still looking fluffy, Irkut right behind her. She was just running around as fast her little legs would take her.

"Hello there."

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, that's true," he mused. "Some of them are weirdly similar, like 'Meowth' when we say cats say 'Meow' back home."

He chuckled at the cuteness. "She looks like she's happy with her new name." And the fluff of course.

"Yes, that is quite odd. Their name is the sound a cat supposedly makes? Very strange."

Ulaz nodded, watching as she ran by, which more of toddle with her father quickly walking after her. "I think that she does too."

[crystalmaster]

"Although it seems like all Pokemon are named for the sounds they make," Radley chuckled.

Evie cheered. "Eevee-vee!"

"Indeed. I do find that strange as well, but it does seem to make sense. However, it is definitely nicer to give them individual names."

[crystalmaster]

"If we did that back home, dogs would be named Bark or Woof," Radley chuckled. "I like naming everybody too."

[scalpelofmarmora]

"That is true. There are definitely some creatures home I wouldn't want to try and name them based on what they sound like. Naming each one is more personal."

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah. That's the best way. I try to name mine after people or characters they remind me of a lot, but sometimes a name just comes to me and I wanna use it if it seems to fit," Radley said.
