3rd Zapfish [Video, Ecruteak City]

[There's not much snow on the ground in Ecruteak City, since it is early in the season, but there's enough that the Luxray and Granbull the video opens up on are rolling in it not far from the Pokemon Center, the latter with much more energy than the former. Still, both seem to like the cold stuff on their fur, and they look pretty happy about it.

Whoever is filming them from afar does not. There's a sigh, and a slight chattering of teeth.]

Snowed last night. [It's Thida's voice. Her voice is...quiet, subdued. Maybe even a bit strained.] Like it here...but, 's there a place with no snow?

Iiinkay. [Ah, looks like Maika is there too. One of her tentacles wraps around to grasp at the 'gear, and she turns it to her. There has never been a more serious little look on an Inkay's face in all the world.] Ink, inkay iiink. Kay!

[For the Pokemon here, she's said, "Trainer's depressed. It's very bad, I dunno what to do. Please help!"]

[Goodness, she seems unhappy. And fairly so - not everyone deals well with cold.]

I'm afraid there has also been snow in Goldenrod City. But perhaps if you traveled farther south?

[She's only been to a couple of places so far...]

Cherrygrove's south enough? Or...gotta go south-er?

Only a day's travel, perhaps. I haven't been in Cherrygrove for several months now, but that isn't terribly far either...

[Gosh, they're probably talking a long way if she wants to escape winter entirely.]

Do you have a Pokemon you can fly on?

No. Don't got a bird.

[Because obviously all you need to fly is a bird.]

Gotta go real south though, right? For no snow?

I imagine so. If you have the means, maybe you could vacation in those islands I've heard about!

[Oh, no. Honey.

Wart isn't exactly the most nurturing PokéMom on the block, but he knows a thing or two about trainers whose mood plummets in cold weather. Dave's sleeping in, anyway, so he takes the 'Gear so he can have a more private conversation with the Inkay and her trainer.]

Hello. You don't like the snow?

[He keeps his mental voice as gentle as he can.]

[The fact that she's gotten a response from a Pokemon is pretty surprising - Wart can see that by the way Thida's actually turned the camera around to her, jaw dropped. It's worth it to note that she's been bundled up in a lot of Pokeball-patterned winter things - seems like the Joys have a soft spot for the short kid with no winter gear. The Inkay is there, too, and lets out a relieved sigh to see another Pokemon to speak to.]

Ink ink inkay...kay ink! In, inkaykay...

["She's got lots of bad memories...she won't talk 'bout it! But, I can sense them..."]

[He hoped it wasn't something like that. He addresses this privately to Maika:]

If she won't talk about it, you can't force her. But make sure she knows she isn't alone, and that you won't leave her by herself with those memories.

[He thinks to himself for a minute, then broadcasts more widely again:]

Is there somewhere warmer you and your friends can play?

[And Maika speaks privately to him in return,] I won't. I wouldn't ever leave her.

[This time, Thida manages to respond, blinking a lot to try and process that a Pokemon is talking to her.] Uh...Center's too small...an'...work at a theater, but...th'dancers need it.

[She knows very little open spaces where her big rambunctious animals can play.]

[ Oh, it snowed..! ...She should go out and have some fun in it sometime. Maybe she'll even think about inviting Ferid to come along with her.

Welllll, somewhere super hot probably wouldn't have any! [ Probably. Aligula hums softly, thinking about it. ] And inside, of course. Ooh, snow and cold doesn't matter either if you have someone to cuddle with too! Got anyone super special, chilly girl?

[Meaning she can still SEE the snow.]

Then don't sit by 'em and you'll be all cozy and like, won't even have to think about it! Put on some shows, like, I dunno... Do they got The Bachelorette or anything like that here?

[Obviously you haven't found any good ones yet. Thida's team is half troublemakers, half hellraisers, but they're all quite nice to spend time with.

She pauses, the winter gear she's been wrapped in rustling a little.] Dunno. 'S a TV thing, right? Don't watch it.

You might want to look into those southern islands in Kanto. That girl said they were perfect for a sunny vacation, so the weather should still be mild around there.

Where's Kanto? It's close?

It's a few hours away if you take the train in Goldenrod, or three days if you take the boat from New Bark Town. The train ticket's expensive, though.

Can't do 'spensive...don't got a lot a time. Gonna be real snowy soon, right?

That's reasonable enough, though keep in mind that you need to at least take care of the basics for yourself in order to care for your pokemon. But in any case, I take it you prefer warmer climates?
