[ The video comes on to show a brightly grinning newcomer! He's already on Route 29, having bolted from New Bark the moment he had his feet under him and his Pokemon given to him. ]

Hey world! I just got here and I got this super cool dog! Look at him! He's on his back legs and run like a champ, it's amazing! Show 'em what ya got Danny! [ The camera focuses on a Riolu, bright-eyed and eager. Danny the Riolu playfully flexed it's not-impressive arms, before turning and using his Quick Attack to show off his speed. Zip-zip! But then Ash quickly told Danny to stop and turned the camera again; this time it lands on a Sentret nearby. ]

Holy shit, who's that Pokemon? I'm gonna try and catch it. Here, hold this- [ Wait. The camera's being handed to the Riolu. Who turns it on himself and winks, before turning it back to Ash, who is trying to sneak up on the Sentret. Before lunging for it, trying to physically grab it. The Sentret rightly squeaks and struggles with him, before getting a good Scratch on his arm and bolting off. Someone skipped the tutorial on how to catch Pokemon... ]

Oh, these things? [ He rummaged around in his bag and pulled out a pokeball. He gave Danny (behind the camera) a pout ]

Hey man, you coulda told me that you're meant to help! [ Danny just giggles ]

There y'go! Now you oughtta be set without worrying about goin' to the emergency room! Welcome to th' cool monster dimension I guess!

...What, am I meant to use these somehow? Are they like smoke bombs or something to make 'em dizzy? [ Dude they're too big to go into these tiny balls! ]

Nah, they're cool with it! Keeps 'em safe too. I don't think I could keep up with alla' mine without the pokeballs.

_{[Sally lets out a cheerful sort of hooting rumble. Maurice flops down on the grass and leans against him, allowing the critter to hook his chin over his shoulder and peer into the gear.]}

This is Sally, he's a good good spiky boy and I love him.

That's rad! [ Ash has amanged to wrangled the Gear back and sat down with it, Danny plopping down into his lap to see it too. ]

Hey Sally! Where'd you get him? Is he the one they gave ya at New Bark?

His egg just...kinda showed up after this ghost frog stalked me for like a week...

_{[Maurice suddenly gets a far-away look in his eye. It takes a nudge from Sally to yank him back to reality.]}

My starter is this guy!

_{[Maurice produces another Poke'ball--one he has sharpied a big M onto and releases a bulky, cheerful Rhyhorn that proceeded to stretch and throw himself on the ground on the other side of Maurice. Maurice instantly regrets this decision because now he's sandwiched between two rhinos and they're both trying to look into the Poke'gear's csreen.]}

Urk--this is Meatloaf! He's also a good and spiky boy. He's my ride.

Heck yeah! My dad's big on music. He taught me how to play, and how to sing well enough that I don't break everyone's ears. He plays violin too but that's like, his baby. I still don't touch it ever, he'd be heartbroken if anything happened to his violin.

Me too! My dad taught me to play--for church, mostly, but now I'm more into rock and roll, y'know. Thinking of starting a band, no big deal...

My dad's dad taught him, and his mum taught him...sort of a family tradition to pass down some music lessons! Family get-togethers are so great, everyone gets a hold of something to play or just sing along. It's great!

I ain't got one yet. Dad always tells me to make sure I focus on getting through school before I try being a musician, and to get a steady job first.

I was thinking something like 'Phoenix Down'. Something to do with firebirds cos they're fucking rad.
