[Cloud's frowning softly when he appears on the network, attempting to figure out this strange device he found on his person upon waking up. It's similar enough to the phones he's used for him to at least get it turned on but it's still strange enough that it has him unsettled.

As does the strange sword...thing.]

...Tifa? Barrett? If either of you are seeing this, I would appreciate an explanation.

[Because this had to be some sort of strange joke.

The camera gets jarred around as Cloud suddenly side steps and when it does focus again anyone watching can now see a Honedge as well, one that the blonde is eyeing rather warily.]

For where I am and what that is.

[Because he really wasn't keen on believing anything that man had said. His first thought had been 'fiend!' but he'd seen a lot of fiends before. Fought a lot of fiends. This? This was just...yeah. No. Whatever it was he didn't want it.]

I also want to know where my motorcycle is. I'd like to get back to Edge sometime today.

[Shutting off his new little device--Pokégear?--Cloud tucked it away into one of his many pockets, the backpack he'd been given slung absently over his shoulder. Beside him, the Honedge he'd received from the professor was peering at him in a wary yet curious manner, sizing the blonde up almost.

At least that's what it seemed like to Cloud.

The blonde frowned before making himself look away, glancing around the town itself before he focused on the road leading out. He couldn't be on a different continent, that would be just a little too over the top for whatever sort of prank this was.

Had to be.

With that in mind the blonde started walking and made it a few feet before he paused and glanced over his shoulder. The Honedge was trailing behind him and immediately stopped when he did, an odd sound coming from the creature that had Cloud's frown deepening.]

Find someone else to bother.

[Because he really didn't want anything to do with this. He had way too much stuff to be working on back in Edge.]

[ Basch is quiet when he answers, as always. But he is also quite to the point. He's set up in a small inn room in Cherrygrove, by an open window. ]

[Cloud's attention is back on his communicator pretty quickly when he hears that, eyes narrowing some.]

What do you mean?

....Yes?

[Who..are these people?]

I have been here but a few weeks. Some have been here for several years.
[ So he's basically forwarding information he's heard. His voice is rough as he talks, hiding his unease. ]
People come and leave at any time, but not by choice.
[ If it were a choice, he would choose to never leave. It's a lot better then. You know. Cage. ]

[Is that... is that a pokemon? So far she's only met ones that looked like animals so a floating sword is... pretty out there! But she can't think of anything else it might be so... and apparently it was trying to follow that man. Was that its new trainer? It might be none of her business, but... she doesn't want to see the poor thing abandoned.]

Um, you shouldn't just leave it behind!

[Plus it's dangerous to go alone! Take ~~this~~ it with you!]

[Now he's even more unnerved. What the hell was capable of something like this?]

[Cloud looks away from the odd sword thing to the source of the voice. It's not anyone he's familiar with so there's no softening to his expression, no slightly friendlier air about him.

Just that same neutral air as he gives her a somewhat dry look.]

It's not mine.

[Except it was, according to that professor. And the Honedge seems rather offended by the implication as it makes that strange sound again and tries to move closer to Cloud--

Who promptly takes a step back.]

That is something I do not know, but--

[ The footage then flickers - quite a few times, as the mode flickers from text to video and text again. And then there is an attachment sent. ]

[ And it's back to video. He looks a little frustrated now. ]

[For a second, Cloud's worried that he did something but it clicks fairly quickly that it's the other man attempting to do something.

And then there's an attachment and the blonde hesitates a moment before opening it and skimming it.]

Thank you. [He's back on the video again, nodding slightly.] ...So this isn't some joke then. All of this--that thing-- [Cue him motioning towards his Honedge.] --it's all real?

It is. [ He says, giving a nod, before adding: ] There is peace. Battles are only for entertainment.
[ everybody worries if their world is at war right??? ]

People battle for entertainment here? [Yeah he's not so sure he likes the sound of that. Battling has it's purpose.

Entertainment is suppose to be things like chocobo races and gambling.]

Aye. Monster on monster.
[ Not people, thankfully. He'd not want to see children hurting each other. (And he still calls Pokemon monsters.) ]

[Cloud glances at his honedge.]

So we're suppose to make these creatures fight.

[Weird place. Really. Weird. Place.]

Isn't that cruel?

They enjoy it.
[ Odd, but true. He pauses, before adding: ]
And there are wild ones. Our weapons are gone. [ So: Either go with it, or be attacked. ]

They enjoy it. Alright.

[Weird but he was currently staring at a living sword so he'll go with it.]

I noticed.

[He's not pleased.]

I guess I need to find myself some more of them.

The next town is three days of travel. There are no Chocobo for transport.
[ he is still a little frustrated about that why no birds :V no, nobody has told him they're not in every world yet.
And then. ]
Your name? Mine is Noah.
[ he has gotten used to the lie ]

You know what chocobos are?

[Yep. That's genuine surprise in his voice. Considering how weird things had been here already, Cloud hadn't been expecting to hear familiar terms.]

A common thread. [ Between their worlds, he meant. He doubted all worlds carried them - this world didn't. Perhaps their worlds were linked somehow...? Nah, that was impossible. But he did seem to be quite pleased. ] They would be at every city, ready to transport any for Gil.

[ He thought back, however, to something Cloud had mentioned earlier. ]

...A motorcycle. It is used for transport?

Sounds similar to how it is back home. Breeding chocobos and racing them were two pretty common hobbies.

[He would know. He'd participated in both. ~~Because dammit he had wanted a golden chocobo.~~]

Yeah. In most of the larger cities vehicles were more common than chocobos.

[A sword Pokemon? Mafuyu's been travelling off the road in the tall grass surrounding in order to find more Pokemon, but this is one she hasn't seen on route 29 before. She's made the mistake of charging in to capture rare Pokemon, only to find out they have owners already and the battle to capture becomes a normal Pokemon battle, so she pushes through the grass, waving to get his attention.]

Hey! Hey, is that yours? The sword!

[She looks excited regardless of his answer. Swords are so cool; she used to have a wooden one she'd carry, but never the real thing. Anyone would look badass swinging a sword Pokemon around.]

I would not know of racing chocobo - the ones I was most familiar with were bred for carrying soldiers to battle. Their durability was important - moreso then the ability to run quickly.

[ And he had to help sometimes - making sure they were fit for purpose. Though, this is the first time he's mentioned this sort of thing on the network - he has gotten used to the idea that he probably isn't being monitored by people of his world. But still... ]

...I could not imagine a city like that. [ he doesn't know much about the imperial city of archades okay his cities are tiny compared to ffvii ]

An interesting use for them. [Something he knew that Cid would probably approve of. Maybe even Barret.

There's something about this man that Cloud finds intriguing. He's knowledgeable in a way that screams soldier to Cloud--not the SOLDIERs he's use to but definitely a man that's seen his fair share of fighting.]

What were your cities like?

[Pausing in his trek through the grass, Cloud looks over to the girl only to wince and send a glare over his shoulder as his honedge runs right into him. The sword looks anything but apologetic, ribbon-y hand waving it's sheath about as it eyes Cloud.

...Brat.

His attention returns to the girl and he gives a slight nod.]

Apparently.

[Her face falls for the briefest of moments because it has a trainer, but lights right up because it has a trainer! And that means--- eye contact this is how we do it in the Pokemon world]

Then we can battle! Let's battle! I want to fight against one of them! Challenging you is Mafuyu Kurosaki!!

[She's fought enough npc trainers to know how this works. Also that she gets to pilfer money off him if she wins. Really, it's about the money, mugging newcomers fresh out of town.]
