[The feeds snaps on to show a rather grizzled man with a beard and eyepatch patting a rather friendly dog Pokémon. A Poochyena to be precise. Boss grunted in amusement when the dog started to chew on his metallic arm. A toy? Well, the Pokémon thought the metal was rather interesting compared to his other normal limb.]

Hngh. A dog? Didn't think I'd end up having another one trailing after me.

[Boss picked up the empty Poke ball from his back pack and studied it. How could such a large animal fit in such a small device? It was all rather confusing right now. Also, what was that music playing? It sounded like a tape but no music he'd ever heard on his iDroid before.]

Hey! Watch the arm. [Snake scalded the energetic Pokémon when he bit down on one of Snake's prosthetic fingers. He was only a puppy but still. He needed those fingers.]

Going to call you DD. You're just like him. Good dog. [Snake patted Poochyena's head and made the dog sit. Good. At least he was learning. It wasn't the first time he'd had a dog follow him and try to lick his face. Snake focused back to the video feed and sighed.]

Anyone hear me? Can someone tell me what's going on and why these animals seem to fit inside tiny balls? [Yeah. He's going to go with that first of all.]

That's right. It's a plain potion, good enough to treat minor injuries. Low-levelled Pokémon rarely need stronger mixtures, so you'll be fine with these for a while. They're completely useless on humans, however.

[He has no idea if this man comes from a world where regular potions are commonplace, but he might as well warn him and spare him the potential waste.]

Low level? It should suit DD ok, since he's only level 5 at the moment.

[Since he had just received him. Battling other trainers and Pokémon would come later.]

I'm used to patching myself up. Don't worry about me. [He was a soldier. He could deal with most things.] Can wild Pokémon attack humans? Injure them?

They can, though they usually prefer to target their fellow Pokémon. Swarms sometimes attack humans nearly exclusively, but they do so because of external factors.

[Such as being abominations of science wished to life. That sort of factor.]

Swarms, huh?

[That sounded like a bad thing. Loads of Pokémon all at the same time? How would DD cope? Snake would help defend his dog if necessary.]

If we do get attacked by this swarm I'll stand in and protect DD.

A brave and worthy choice, but be warned: you'll have to do so without proper armor or weapons.

I got that part since I don't have my guns or equipment from home. Bit of a shock since I don't go anywhere without them.

[Being a soldier it's tough.]

Those of you who use firearms are particularly unlucky. Makeshift blunt weapons can be built and we swordsmen cam train Honedges, but you'll find no halfway acceptable replacements for your own items.

[Not that he knows much about those.]

I can use a knife.

[The joy of CQC was that Snake could still maim and kill a man by just using his knife and his hands. He didn't need a gun all the time to subdue his enemies.]

Good luck finding one that does not dull within a day. Even kitchen and pocket knives are not spared.

[Terrible waste of perfectly good blades, as far as he's concerned.]

They dull the metal? So that people can't attack each other?

[Sounded rather farfetched but he wasn't about to doubt the guy's claims.]

What about sharp sticks?

Those remain relatively sharp, but they've little effect against, say, Steel-types. They are also likely to get you in trouble with the Jennies.
