Sidon wouldn't let me get closer even though I wanted to.

But we saw one of those legendary Pokemon the news was talking about.

Has anyone ever tried to battle a legendary before? Or catch one?

[Attached is a picture that's clearly taken from high up in a tree of Raikou, though it's a fairly bad picture considering the lightning flash and the rain obscuring things. It probably doesn't help he was made to stay far away from the beast.

You saw one? They're not really something to be messed with.

Don't. Legendaries should only be fought when they wish to challenge you, or when their actions threaten the world.

A challenge with powers beyond anything our teams can achieve. They control the weather, time, even the continued existence of this world. When Teams Rocket or Magma or Aqua managed to capture one, the results were not pretty.

The Legendaries may not actually be as scary as they make them out to be.

That sounds like what a lot of the Pokemon I've seen and fought can do..

And it doesn't sound any worse than some of the creatures I fought back home by myself..

I caught fairies and forest spirits all the time back home that could do things like that. And I rode the Lord of the Mountain. I'm guessing Legendary Pokemon are on par with them so I don't see what there is to hesitate over.

Their abilities may have had the same nature, but certainly not the same scope.

[No Rain Dance, no Sunny Day could do that.]

'By yourself' is the key here. You've no weapon, magic or special ability to help your Pokémon, other than your ability to strategize.

Actually, I was around back when Team Magma and Team Aqua were trying to command Groudon and Kyogre, and I've talked to Arceus a few times.

And I've battled these giant golems before- the Regis, I think? They were basically bringing the world into a state of cataclysm. Couldn't catch 'em, and we didn't really dent them, either.

Which leads me to believe that you just can't catch these guys. Or if you did, you'd need one heck of a Pokeball.

I didn't have magic back home. I had some special abilities but usually I just fought things.

And weapons are easy enough to make.
