--will you knock it off?!

[The video cuts up in the middle of Vanitas's yelling, the sounds of a fighting a little louder than he is, though. His 'gear is sitting sideways in the snow where it fell out of his jacket while the young man himself is busy trying to keeping a small red and white fluff ball away from a very large Seviper.

Scrapper the Houndoom lunges into the frame and tackles the massive snake, flames engulfing the Seviper as the two start to battle it out. Taking his chance to get away from the fight for a moment, Vanitas manages to get the terrified bundle of fur--that's definitely a small Zangoose--into his jacket, zipping the Pokemon in for protection.

The 'gear is lifted then and there's some high pitched squeaking from Toppler the Swoobat. Vanitas looks over and frowns, making his way over to grab the 'gear--

Just as Scrapper and the Seviper slam into him, sending him falling into the 'gear and his Swoobat.]

Sh--

[The video goes dead after that and about fifteen minutes later a text message would appear in lieu of another video.]

What the hell is up with Zangoose and Seviper?!

Natural predators. They're on opposite sides of the food chain, and one preys on the other and vice versa.

Note to self: Don't get a Seviper.

Probably for the best.

If you're going to keep the Zangoose then you don't want any snake Pokemon around it and then make sure it has time to train in case of any later encounters.

Well that sucks.

I just got an Ekans.

You probably want to train them separately then. Especially if the Zangoose is just a little one.

Guess I should put Viper away then..

Sit them down, talk to them separately. And if they're willing to get along, introduce them slowly but make darn sure to supervise them.

this is a whole lot of effort.

It's basically like introducing pets together. But instead of pets, it's opposite sides of the food chain. You're in for a lot of work.

I've never had pets before coming here. So all of this is new. And a lot of work.

Pets usually are a lot of work. Here, and anywhere else. There's health concerns, diet and exercise and that's just the start of things.

All my other Pokemon have been easy.

[Diana tries to send a video but when she tries to speak she remembers the video and starts laughing again.]

[Vanitas switches to video and gives her a dry look though it's probably hard to take him seriously considering the Zangoose is tucked into his hoodie looking pretty content with life.]

Are you done?

[She shakes her head and continues to giggle some more. Give her a moment.]

[She points at him.]

One of this world's great rivalries, ranking slightly above the Durant/Heatmor combo. I'd suggest not training them together. Or raising them together at all.

The snake isn't mine.

It was attacking the Zangoose I was trying to catch.

Wow, that's rude. You'd think it could have attacked any of the other Zangoose around. I mean, there's plenty of them, no need to share targets.

I'm not sure if you're being an ass or not.

But it seemed to want to go after this one because of how small she is.

So it's a stupid Seviper instead of a rude one, then. The small ones are always stronger than they look.

Yeah well, she doesn't seem to be that strong yet.

Considering this has probably been the most stressful hour of her life, I'm not surprised. That can't possibly be how she expected her day to go when she woke up this morning.

[...That's kind of beautiful. So beautiful, in fact, that Riku fails to hide the smirk on his face, as he chuckles and slowly shakes his head.]

Musta been hungry.

[But, admittedly, that would throw anyone off guard, so the sass soon fades from his voice.]

Seriously, though, everything okay over there? Can't imagine that mess was any easier for that Zangoose.

..Yeah, we're fine. Red Hot doesn't seem to be hurt or anything.

[With the video on, Riku will be able to see Vanitas's jacket shift and then suddenly a red and white head pops out as the Zangoose peers at the 'gear.]

Just spooked, that's all.

[...It's so tiny. Kinda adorable, too, but he mustn't make it too clear that he finds this adorable. So he looks away for a second. Composure, Riku. Don't be too soft.]

Well, can't blame it. Still, that's one small Zangoose. Usually they're around the size of a kid...

[But it could just be a baby. Could also just be small for other reasons. Ven's Pikachu was certainly tiny.]

Kinda surprising you went for a Pokemon like that, not that it's a bad thing.

I know. I'm pretty sure it got separated from it's parents or something.

[For a moment, just a moment, there's something soft to Vani's voice as he looks down at the Zangoose and ruffles her ears--

But then the moment passes as he catches himself and eyes Riku.]

What the hell is that suppose to mean?

I'll put it this way.

[He tries not to laugh, but whoops, there's a small snicker. Way to go, Riku.]

I never pegged you as a softy.

I am not a softy! I just don't like seeing Pokemon get beat up for no reason!

[Ironic considering he's apart of Team Rocket but, well...he might be taking some issue with them as of late.]

But, see, that just proves there's just a tiny bit of light inside you.

[He really shouldn't tease too much, but... heh. Some habits die hard, and without Sora around, the main object of his snark's not around.

But eh, he'll drop it after this. Best not to poke the bear, so to speak.]

[Hey, he's not denying the light bit!

The Zangoose let's out a quiet noise, reaching out to try and bat at the 'gear as her ear go back which gets a snort out of Vanitas.]

See? Even she wants you to shut up.

Pff. Okay, fine. You win this round.

[He even holds up his hands in defeat.]

Still, wonder if it'd be worth trying to find her family. Not to release or anything, but just in case her mom's still trying to hunt down a missing... I'd say pup, but that's probably not accurate for a mongoose.

[Vanitas frowns, glancing down at Red Hot.]

...I guess I could look around since I'm here.

It's just a thought. Honestly, I normally wouldn't have thought about it, but since she is so small...

[He pauses. Come to think of it...]

Wonder how often the families of Pokemon we catch worry.

[They probably expect it on some level, but dang.]

...Okay now you're thinking too much about this. Knock it off.

[Ugh. Don't make him feel bad, Riku.]

Man, if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I'm prone to chronic overthinking.

[He snickers, waving one of his hands.]

Guess that's what sets me apart from dorks like Sora and Ven.
