[Network] 002

[ An image of Fushimi pops on, not from a gear but from a computer. He was obviously messing with his gear again, a little bowl of chocolates sitting next to him. The bag they came in clearly was from the 'tainted' chocolates from over the holiday. He was sitting outside the Magnet Train station. ]

What would be the advantages of going to Kanto compared to remaining in Johto? This place seems fine but I'm bored of the scenery and the Game Corner isn't nearly as interesting as it says it is. Is there another one in Kanto? Maybe actually difficult to play?

Yeah, difficult! We want games!!

[ A Rotom twirls around behind Fushimi's head. ]

Is there a high variance in Pokemon? I have what I need right now from here.

There's a game corner in Celadon City, I believe, though I can't speak for whether it's much different from Goldenrod. And there certainly are different species of wild pokemon that can be found in the region though, yes.

Though if you're looking for challenges, have you battled any of the gym leaders yet? Once you've collected one region's set of badges, you can face them in matches where they use much stronger teams than their usual battles...

The pokemon themselves consider it more a test of strength, like a sparring match. And it would be the mark of a poor trainer indeed to let one's pokemon get seriously injured, at that.

It's different enough to be worth the trip. Mt. Moon is particularly worth a visit. And there are far more types of Pokemon that can be found on the routes there, or in the cities.

I recommend investing in a bicycle, if you don't have a Pokemon that can be used as a mount. It makes travel easier.

Because this world revolves around those animals, and goes to great lengths to preserve their habitat and most of the wilderness. Automobiles would be a terrible imposition on that, and a danger to the native species. Not to mention the building of roads, which requires deforestation and altering natural terrain, displacing Pokemon habitats and depriving them of resources. I'd think it would be obvious.

Most of us simply travel by Pokemon.

Consider it an opportunity to enjoy the slow, scenic path.

I prefer Kanto to Johto by a long shot.

[He folds his arms, a small smile present on his face.]

For one, there's just more to see. Film studios. Water parks. Museums. A volcano. The Sevii Islands. It has its big cities, but it also has its unique landscapes. And diversity-wise? Yeah, there's a lot to scope out. Some species you can't even find in Johto.

[personal profile] islandshore 2018-02-17 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
As far as transit goes, it's mostly the magnet train and the S.S. Anne, yeah. There are bike paths, and you can always ride on a Pokemon, though. More of a hassle, but I've always found flying to be the quickest way to get around.

[He pauses.]

Oh yeah- and there's also the teleport system, I guess. So not too different from Johto in that respect.
islandshore: (unsure)

[personal profile] islandshore 2018-02-22 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
They probably just don't think it's necessary. Why go through the trouble of building a tram system when you can hop on the back of a Charizard?

[But Riku shrugs. Either way, he can see the point. Not everyone is a fan of riding, anyhow.]

Heh. Bit too stimulating for ya? Well, if you really wanna walk, that's your call. I'd at least recommend grabbing a bike, though.
islandshore: (Wow you're dense)

[personal profile] islandshore 2018-02-25 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'd say they're solid enough. Not the greatest for ice caves, but on most routes, they get the job done. Definitely shaves off more time than foot travel would.

[But it's here that his eyes narrow a bit.]

Still, it'd be nice if we could at least get a car. Easier for travel parties, but I guess there'd be a bunch of ecological concerns.

Honestly, even electric's a no-brainer. There's a whole type for it.

[But no, that'd probably be considered abuse. Or something. Heck if he knows... Ugh.]

The tech here's just so... inconsistent. Computers that can absorb entire monsters. Teleport systems. The Pokegears and Pokedex. But they've got dirt roads and the most accessible vehicle is a bike. Heck, I barely ever hear anything about formal education.

I just don't get the culture here half the time.
islandshore: (... let's not go there)

[personal profile] islandshore 2018-03-03 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't call it education. It's just so ingrained. The focus on Pokemon battling consumes everything to the point where you can't even own weapons legally. You're just expected to use your team for everything.

[A scowl overtakes his face at the thought. It's been a frustration for years, given his love of combat and competition. Battles are fun, but he hates being so passive. So he isn't. He bends the rules.]

But it's weird. You don't see the same kinda focus directed at, say, becoming a professor.
islandshore: (unsure)

[personal profile] islandshore 2018-03-07 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Scientists definitely exist. I just wonder where they even get their education.

[As for the question, heh. His scowl fades in favor of a crooked smile, and a soft laugh slips from his lips.]

Anyway, it's been about eight years, and... well, some things have changed. The teleporters are fairly recent. Back when we started off, there was no way to actually get to Kanto. But most of the changes have been... small scale, I think. Enough to shake things up, but not enough to alter the foundation of this world's culture.

Honestly, I've seen more developments from our lot. New businesses, for one.
islandshore: (RIKU used LEER!)

[personal profile] islandshore 2018-03-09 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well, they allow us to run businesses and open gyms. It's... not a lot, but at least it's something?

[Small it may be, but some have certainly made their marks, like Joker.]

But you're right. If people leave, it can cause problems. The old Breeding Center was a huge deal back in the day, but once its owners left, it kinda left a void. Even I haven't been able to pick up the slack, especially now that Sora's gone.

I actually haven't traveled through Johto much so I can't necessarily compare the two but I will say that Kanto is rather interesting. I've traveled through it twice now and seen a lot of different things both times, both on the more tourist-y side of things and the more investigative side of things.

[Cissnei's currently on the Seafoam Islands, someplace she'd never been before for example, and has been enjoying exploring the island chain.

But it may not be what this particular young man is looking for.

A rather long looking Oshawott crawls up onto her lap and settles, his snout and paws stained red. He starts to clean his paws and Cissnei just settles an arm around him like it's no big thing. Nothing to see here. It's just berry juice. Really.]

If you're looking for unique Pokemon, though, I would highly recommend the Sevii Islands. There are a lot of variations to the standard breeds found only on the islands there.

[Cissnei grinned lazily.]

There are always things worth investigating, even in places that seem as wholesome as this. The Legendary Pokemon, the criminal organizations, the myths surrounding different locations. There's a lot of interesting lore to this place.

[On her lap the Oshawott stops his cleaning as Misaki talks at him, staring at the other Pokemon before letting out a high pitched and happy sounding chirp. He practically smiles at the pair on the other side of the 'gear, teeth bared and stained red and..silver?

Yep. Okay. You really shouldn't ask.]

If you don't care much then I won't waste time discussing Pokemon then.

[personal profile] notmyrealname 2018-02-25 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? Already looked into them?

[It's said with a bit of amusement because she's already long since put together that some individuals start in a different place than others and that seems to connect them to Team Rocket.

So perhaps this young man was the same.

Anima just chortles a bit and goes back to cleaning himself, Cissnei ruffling his ears.]

To each their own. A few of the Legendaries are intriguing. Arceus, for example. Celebi, Jirachi. Most of them seem to be simply guardians of weather or seasons though.

Most of them are honestly not worth the trouble of paying attention to if you ask me.

[With all the destruction some of them liked to cause for petty reasons, they were just far more trouble than they were worth.]

Fair enough. I wouldn't really call it faith, though. I think it's largely that they just don't want to be found most of the time which is understandable.

[personal profile] notmyrealname 2018-02-28 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Extremely so but that's why Cissnei was looking into things. There was just a lot of unexplained behaviors and odd incidents.]

You could always ditch your 'gear.

[Her lips twitched into a grin.]

Something like that. It's rather interesting to think that something such as a Pokemon can have the ability to pull individuals through time and space to this world.

[Oh she's well aware, Fushimi.]

Good luck. Unfortunately it seems like the rules of this universe like to work against us sometimes.

[Sometimes even the most skilled individuals have trouble doing what would normally be easy. It's bothersome.]

Like?

[She glances at the Scraggy and grins, watching it dart off after the Rotom after getting shocked.]

It does but is there only one that can do it or are there multiple? Are there more than one of each type of Legendary? Can they move through time and space whenever they please or it was simply because of a certain circumstance that they were able to?

[Cissnei shrugs, leaning back a bit.]

I can't help but want answers, I suppose.
