[The video coming on is somewhat accidental. Whoever is fumbling with it was clearly trying to get it out of wherever it was--a pocket? A bag?--and they must have flipped it on in the process. After a few seconds they manage to get it out of wherever it was stuck and the video goes a bit crazy as the ‘gear clatters to the ground.

A soft glow illuminates the room briefly as a Minior comes into view, the red little star Pokemon smiling dumbly at the screen before it’s suddenly grabbed--well, more like hugged, actually, as a little girl comes into view.]

Did it break, Little Dipper? Oh, hey, I think it’s recording--hi everyone that can see this!!

[Mabel grins and picks her ‘gear up with her free hand, her Minior currently tucked underneath her other arm and looking rather pleased about it.]

I’m Mabel and this is Little Dipper! Oh and this is my brother Dipper!

[Cue her turning the camera on her brother.]

Dipper say hi!

[There’s a boy in the background, with a Phantump floating next to him. They seem to be studying where they are. At least they were, before Dipper turns to see the gear pointed at him.]

Mabel! What are you doing? No one needs to see this!

Don’t be such a spoilsport, Dipper! It’s just a new adventure!

[Under her arm, Little Dipper thrummed though whether it was in agreement or just because he could was hard to say.]

Plus we can’t be the first people to end up here…

[By now it should be clear that they are in a jail cell. Dipper folds his arms]

For trying to steal an old ladies kittens? Or should I say, accessory to SOMEONE trying to make off with a bunch of kittens?

If you had helped we totally could have gotten away but noooo!

You shouldn’t have been doing it in the first place! Now we have to break out of jail! ...uh...ignore that last part people ….. I meant serve our time….

[Whispers to Mabel.]

I really think you should stop broadcasting this now….

[Insert a snort from Mabel as she turns the ‘gear back on herself properly and playfully rolls her eyes.]

Don’t mind him! He’s just nervous because the Jenny ladies said we have to stay here for a few days. Anyway, maybe someone out there watching knows how we can get out of here, Dipper! Did you ever think of that??

[Cue her sticking her tongue out as Little Dipper thrums again.]

Yeah and their advice is probably going to be, you got arrested, do your time.

[Meanwhile his own pokemon is examining the bars and lock. Dipper is just going to move to hide the pokemon from the view of the gear.]

Maybe, maybe not! Only one way to find out! [A pause as she looks over at them and narrows her eyes, slowly grinning.] What’s Crafty doing?

Uh...nothing...nothing...just um looking around! Right Crafty?

[The Phantump looks over and nods...very normal]

...You two are trying to break out aren’t you??

Mabel turn the gear off!

Oh you are so going to break us out of here! Go Crafty go! You can do it!

Mabel!

[There is a sudden child scramble for the gear and in the chaos it gets turned off.]

[ooc: replies will be from both Dipper and Mabel. Threadjacking is a possibility.]

A chance to explain ourselves would have been nice too.

So yeah none of that. Just take the pokemon away and stick us in jail.

[At least the last time they got thrown in jail it was because Stan had them counterfeiting money. Pretending it was a family bonding experience.]

Ugh. And just when I thought law enforcement here couldn't get any dumber...

[Cue an exasperated sigh and facepalm combo.]

Did they at least say how long it'd be? Give an option for bail? If not...

[And here he pauses.]

Might be worth trying to stage an escape. Somehow.

[But they're kids and beginner trainers besides. That miiight not be easy.]

Neither. I don't know if they plan to but.....

[Switches to private.]

We already have a plan to break out. I just didn't want to broadcast it to everyone on the gear.

Oh yeah? What've you got in mind?

[Kid seems smart enough, but knowing this place... better to err on the side of caution. Especially since he seems new.]

...And for the record, I'm not gonna snitch. I've got enough issue with the police system around here.

[Dipper looks skeptical for a moment.]

At the moment, the plan is for my sister to cause a distraction to get a guard or officer to come in. While they're distracted by Mabel, Crafty will steal the keys and hand them off to me. Then we get out, sneak out of the building and meet up with our ride.

....and if something goes wrong we'll improvise.

...You know, that could actually work. It'd probably be easier with a move like Hypnosis, but just having a ghost already gives you a huge advantage.

But if you do pull this off, you're gonna need a way to avoid trouble afterwards. Dunno how crazy the Jennies will be about two kids staging a jailbreak, but you might want somewhere you can lay low for a while.

Dang, that's some luck. But hey, that just gives you two a leg up on most people here.

Any big plans once this all dies down?

Meet up with our Grunkle and friend. Avoid the law and try and catch pokemon. I still have to look through the gear more but these creatures are fascinating. I want to learn everything about them!

Well, hey, if you need any pointers, I've got time to burn. Raised over fifty of 'em myself, though it's been a while since I went out and caught anything new.

And as for learning, Pokedex definitely isn't a bad place to start, if you don't mind the occasional nightmare fuel.

Over fifty? That's amazing! Yeah I'll totally ask for pointers.

....wait, what do you mean by nightmare fuel? ....are there more pokemon that are...like ghost kids in stumps?

[He's looked his own up at least.]

Amazing, but also insanely exhausting. Got a handful of pranksters, battle-crazed dragons, a Blastoise who makes a habit of looking "cool" 24/7...

[But he waves his hand. It's nothing new to him. Eight years is a long time.]

Anyway, yeah. Like Yamask, for example- they're said to be the reincarnations of dead humans, and the masks they carry are their original faces.

Wow. I can't wait to catch more.

[Or you know...one.]

So are there no ghosts here? Like actual ghosts not pokemon ghosts or ghosts possessing things and becoming pokemon?

Hmmm... Far as I know, anything remotely ghost-like pretty much is a Pokemon. Haven't seen any more humanoid spirits, anyway, but you never know.

[There's a small shrug on his part.]

Still, they're pretty diverse. There's this one- Golurk, that kinda looks like a giant robot made of rocks. Definitely one of the cooler ghosts out there, even if I'm more into the Honedge line.

[What can he say? He likes swords. Honedges are almost like having a real weapon.]

That's kinda weird....

[Yes Dipper, the lack of ghost is weird.]

I guess maybe they all formed as Pokemon. That could be a Class ...P maybe....

[He needs a notebook so much.]

A ghost made of rocks....Like some sort of golem?

[Cue an eyebrow raise. That's a new one. Interesting all the same, though.]

And... yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Name's even a pun on golem.

Oh the journal I had back home had all the ghosts sorted into different types based on levels of danger. Like a Category One would be pretty harmless but a Category Ten might try to kill you.

Ghosts that becomes pokemon would be a totally new classification.

[Once he gets a journal he's going to be doing a lot of writing.]

....wait really? What's it called? A ...stonelm?

Huh. You know, I bet a classification like that could be useful for Pokemon, though. And not just ghosts- different Pokemon in general. A way to distinguish them based on power, aggression...

[Has someone tried that before? If not, it'd be interesting. Almost makes him want to try something like that based on his own experiences.

And nah, Golurk. Play on golem and lurk. Funny thing is, there's also a Pokemon called Golem... that's basically a rock with a dinosaur head.

They don't have them classified here already? Wouldn't that be the first thing you'd do after finding a strange new species?

[Dipper not everyone is a nerd.]

Neat. I'll have to look those up later.

Like I said, classifications tend to rely more on type than anything. Well, type, evolutionary level, and Legendary Pokemon, but those guys are pretty scarce.

[That being said, Riku can understand the desire to learn more. Heck, he kinda embraced his own nerdy side over the ears.]

But, hey, if you're into that kinda thing, there's still a lot you can sink your teeth into. Legends, old landmarks, that sorta thing.

I can understand type but you'd think they'd be others-.......Wait legendary types? So there's pokemon even stranger then the ones here?

Oh my gosh. .......We are totally looking into those.

[YUP. EXCITED NERD CHILD, IS EXCITED.]

A lot stronger. There's even a Pokemon god. I met it once. Fed it a sandwich.

But I've had some other run-ins, too. Some more devastating than others.

A god? What did it look like? Where did you see it?

And you saw other weird ones too... Did you take notes? Please tell me took notes.

It looked... kinda like an armor-plated llama? Silver and gold, almost alien. As for where I saw it- down at the Elite Four's private resort after two other legendaries almost destroyed the place and everyone in it.

And yeah, I took some notes. Couldn't resist- the odds of legendaries making any kind of appearance is usually pretty slim. Gotta make the most of it, y'know?

[That's weird even for him....wait wait..]

And there were others? ....do they just attack things when they appear or are they capable of reasoning and there was something behind why they were trying to kill everyone there?
