[The video coming on is somewhat accidental. Whoever is fumbling with it was clearly trying to get it out of wherever it was--a pocket? A bag?--and they must have flipped it on in the process. After a few seconds they manage to get it out of wherever it was stuck and the video goes a bit crazy as the ‘gear clatters to the ground.

A soft glow illuminates the room briefly as a Minior comes into view, the red little star Pokemon smiling dumbly at the screen before it’s suddenly grabbed--well, more like hugged, actually, as a little girl comes into view.]

Did it break, Little Dipper? Oh, hey, I think it’s recording--hi everyone that can see this!!

[Mabel grins and picks her ‘gear up with her free hand, her Minior currently tucked underneath her other arm and looking rather pleased about it.]

I’m Mabel and this is Little Dipper! Oh and this is my brother Dipper!

[Cue her turning the camera on her brother.]

Dipper say hi!

[There’s a boy in the background, with a Phantump floating next to him. They seem to be studying where they are. At least they were, before Dipper turns to see the gear pointed at him.]

Mabel! What are you doing? No one needs to see this!

Don’t be such a spoilsport, Dipper! It’s just a new adventure!

[Under her arm, Little Dipper thrummed though whether it was in agreement or just because he could was hard to say.]

Plus we can’t be the first people to end up here…

[By now it should be clear that they are in a jail cell. Dipper folds his arms]

For trying to steal an old ladies kittens? Or should I say, accessory to SOMEONE trying to make off with a bunch of kittens?

If you had helped we totally could have gotten away but noooo!

[Insert a snort from Mabel as she turns the ‘gear back on herself properly and playfully rolls her eyes.]

Don’t mind him! He’s just nervous because the Jenny ladies said we have to stay here for a few days. Anyway, maybe someone out there watching knows how we can get out of here, Dipper! Did you ever think of that??

[Cue her sticking her tongue out as Little Dipper thrums again.]

Yeah and their advice is probably going to be, you got arrested, do your time.

[Meanwhile his own pokemon is examining the bars and lock. Dipper is just going to move to hide the pokemon from the view of the gear.]

Maybe, maybe not! Only one way to find out! [A pause as she looks over at them and narrows her eyes, slowly grinning.] What’s Crafty doing?

Uh...nothing...nothing...just um looking around! Right Crafty?

[The Phantump looks over and nods...very normal]

...You two are trying to break out aren’t you??

Mabel turn the gear off!

Oh you are so going to break us out of here! Go Crafty go! You can do it!

Mabel!

[There is a sudden child scramble for the gear and in the chaos it gets turned off.]

[ He didn't get much further as one of his other Pokemon had noticed there was a call going on. Walter gave a startled groan as he was suddenly folded in two by the man sized Decidueye trying to perch on him, leaning forward to see who he was talking to. Hello person! ]

[ Reed draws himself up, puffing out his feathers and clearly basking attention. ]

Reed. Off. [ The Decidueye stepped off him, but still all but draped itself over his back. Assumption just giggled at his antics while Walter huffed out of his nose, folding his arms. Not that Reed cared. ]

Reed is also a Grass and Ghost type Pokemon. originally, he was a Rowlet. They are Grass and Flying.

Oh wow, they can switch types when they evolve?...I wish I had a journal here. I need to write this stuff down.

He seems pretty friendly. You should introduce him to Mabel. She'd love him.

He will most likely introduce himself. [ Reed nods over him, either ignoring Walter's tone or ignorant of it. Yes, he should be introduced to everyone! But Walter reached up and brushed back some of his feathers, causing Reed to trill. ]

Assumption changed type completely. A Cubone is a Ground type. However, there are two different types of Marowak; one retains it's Ground typing. The other becomes both Fire and Ghost types. Assumption is the latter.

[ Assumption nodded and touched his bone club to his skull, in the middle of his simple halo. The club ignited and with a spin, both ends were on fire. ]

Is there a reason for why it changes to a certain version rather then the other?

I have noticed an abundance of them on the Sevii Islands. They have a tropical climate. My Gear says, it is also influenced by being close to their partners.

[ Assumption's bone extinguished itself and he leaned against Walter's side. Creepy and strange he might be, but it's clear his Pokemon adore him. Even if it makes him appear quite sheepish and awkward. ]

[Sheepish and awkward, yeah Dipper can relate to that. Mostly because that's his default state around people when trying to be social and monsters aren't involved.]

Interesting. Maybe the tropics play a role.

It does. There are other Pokemon that evolve differently there, but not all of it is well explained.

[ Walter knows a lot but, he's not one to reveal everything unless directly asked. Above him, Reed hooted and straightened up. ]

Your gear will have a lot of information regarding Pokemon, if you are curious to research them.

Oh I plan to. Just as soon as we get out of here.

Oh. And, there is one more thing I should say.

Do not try and steal anymore Pokemon. People are very protective of them... and often the Pokemon themselves do not take it well, either. [ Behind him, Reed casually pulled out one of his feathers and inspected it. It's a very arrow-like, very sharp feather. Assumption nodded seriously to Dipper. ]

Bad. Very bad.

Yeah, it honestly was sorta a misunderstanding? And someone getting over excited about cute things.....

[Mabel.]

But trust me, we're not part of that team rocket group or whatever it is. Once we get out, we'll catch our pokemon just like we're supposed to.

[Mabel apparently will take to tackling them, but that's for future Dipper to be like wtf about. And they may be wanted by the police for a while because they're breaking out of here and escaping on a giant robot but eh, details.]

You've heard of Team Rocket? That's good. You'll need to be careful of them.

[ He knows that very well. ]

Just a bit. They apparently steal and hurt pokemon.

They do like to steal and hurt Pokemon. I can assure you of that. And they do not like to fight fair. You will need to train your Pokemon well, and be alert, to protect yourselves from them.

I'd rather study them....

But I'm not going to risk anyone stealing and hurting mine or Mabel's team. So I guess we'll just have to figure out this training thing.
