[The video coming on is somewhat accidental. Whoever is fumbling with it was clearly trying to get it out of wherever it was--a pocket? A bag?--and they must have flipped it on in the process. After a few seconds they manage to get it out of wherever it was stuck and the video goes a bit crazy as the ‘gear clatters to the ground.

A soft glow illuminates the room briefly as a Minior comes into view, the red little star Pokemon smiling dumbly at the screen before it’s suddenly grabbed--well, more like hugged, actually, as a little girl comes into view.]

Did it break, Little Dipper? Oh, hey, I think it’s recording--hi everyone that can see this!!

[Mabel grins and picks her ‘gear up with her free hand, her Minior currently tucked underneath her other arm and looking rather pleased about it.]

I’m Mabel and this is Little Dipper! Oh and this is my brother Dipper!

[Cue her turning the camera on her brother.]

Dipper say hi!

[There’s a boy in the background, with a Phantump floating next to him. They seem to be studying where they are. At least they were, before Dipper turns to see the gear pointed at him.]

Mabel! What are you doing? No one needs to see this!

Don’t be such a spoilsport, Dipper! It’s just a new adventure!

[Under her arm, Little Dipper thrummed though whether it was in agreement or just because he could was hard to say.]

Plus we can’t be the first people to end up here…

[By now it should be clear that they are in a jail cell. Dipper folds his arms]

For trying to steal an old ladies kittens? Or should I say, accessory to SOMEONE trying to make off with a bunch of kittens?

If you had helped we totally could have gotten away but noooo!

[Insert a snort from Mabel as she turns the ‘gear back on herself properly and playfully rolls her eyes.]

Don’t mind him! He’s just nervous because the Jenny ladies said we have to stay here for a few days. Anyway, maybe someone out there watching knows how we can get out of here, Dipper! Did you ever think of that??

[Cue her sticking her tongue out as Little Dipper thrums again.]

Yeah and their advice is probably going to be, you got arrested, do your time.

[Meanwhile his own pokemon is examining the bars and lock. Dipper is just going to move to hide the pokemon from the view of the gear.]

Maybe, maybe not! Only one way to find out! [A pause as she looks over at them and narrows her eyes, slowly grinning.] What’s Crafty doing?

Uh...nothing...nothing...just um looking around! Right Crafty?

[The Phantump looks over and nods...very normal]

...You two are trying to break out aren’t you??

Mabel turn the gear off!

Oh you are so going to break us out of here! Go Crafty go! You can do it!

[There is a sudden child scramble for the gear and in the chaos it gets turned off.]

Bonnie is an adorable name! Here, here~ [ Mari palms around until she picks up a Mimikyu sporting a big purple ribbon and bow around her neck. ] This is Ruby~ All of my other Pokemon are in their balls. Except for Spinel. He's not a fan of his ball.

Oh my gosh hi Ruby!!! She's super cute and look at her outfit! [Mabel's practically vibrating with glee and Bonnie the Skitty looks really put off as she attempts to hide away in sweater town again.] I'm Mabel! It's nice to meet you! What kind of Pokemon is Spinel?

Bonnie and Mabel is the cutest name combo! Ohmygosh!! [ Ruby makes a squeak of a noise before crawling up Mari's arm to her shoulder. She know the name 'Spinel' veeerrrry well and she needs to seek refuge around the Starmie.

Mari picks up the 'gear and shuffles off to the bathroom. A HUGE Starmie is flat on its back on the floor atop what appear to be a bunch of wet towels. He's cozy there. His gem shifts through all seven colors of the rainbow idly. ]

Here he is!! Spinel is my starter! He's a Starmie~

Thanks! Just wait until I get a Clyde then it'll be even better!

[Her eyes go wide when she gets to see the Starmie in question because holy crap that is a giant star look at that thing!!!]

[The video goes a bit crazy since Mabel is clearly running over to her brother and grabbing him to show him the video.]

Oh my gosh, Mabel! Aliens.....I mean I have no idea why they look like starfish but that's incredible! When did they first figure out they were aliens? Are there any other pokemon that are extraterrestrial in origin?

Mari can answer that! Starmie and Staryu look like starfish so they can lay on the ocean floor and use their gems to communicate with whatever is up there. They aren't just there to be shiny!

There are a couple Pokemon who are supposedly from space. Elgyem only showed up after a desert UFO crash!

That makes sense but why do they look like creature that are non alien in nature. Unless they were created by other beings who knew what starfish looked like.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any information on where that crash could have happened. But I know it was as recent as fifty years ago. I'd suggest doing some digging if that's what you're passionate about! You sound like you like the cool stuff a lot.

A more common alien-y Pokemon outside of Starmie and Staryu is the Cleffa line. I read that they came on meteorites.

I have some ghosts if you are interested in those too, sugar.

I was showing Mabel my shining star Ruby here. [ She coaxes the anxious Mimikyu back out from behind her shoulder and holds her up.

Sitting on the bathroom floor next to a lounging starfish is comfy apparently. ]

She's a Mimikyu. They look like they come this way, but she's actually hiding her real body underneath this little handkerchief. I've made different ones for her to wear.

They're so strong and scary that they can cause serious damage to a human when exposed. I think she's cuddly and just a darling.
