Well, there's been a pleasant and much needed development.

I've just secured and moved into my own rental property. The real estate agent was reluctant to rent to someone so young but I had excellent references from Nurse Joy and the head Librarian at Goldenrod, plus I was able to produce all my recent payslips. The owners are a really nice couple who even threw in the furniture. It's small, rustic and outdated, but it's perfect for me and my pokemon. It sits on an acre, which is excellent, as now I can let all the pokemon roam instead of being stuck in their pokeballs or in the computer. It even has a little lake for my water pokemon and a barn which the owners said they're happy for me to use.

[She turns the camera to show off the cottage and land.]

Hermione had just let the last of her pokemon out and explained to them that this was now their new home, encouraging them to go explore.

As she watched she felt a lump in her throat. She missed her friends and family. Getting her own place was a huge milestone, one that she'd achieved far earlier than anticipated, but she didn't have anyone to share the excitement with. She sighed, as she turned to fill food bowls for her pokemon. Renting a place meant permanency. Despite all her research and fact checking over the past three months, it seemed she was stuck here until something new was uncovered.

Cyto floated over to nuzzle her. 'It's okay Cyto, " she said smiling at the green plasma pokemon, hugging him back.

"I just wish... "

What did she wish? That she was back home? That she wasn't here with her pokemon any more? To go back to that point where dementors were giving her the kiss of death?

"....I miss my friends and family back home."

I live there, dear. Newt and I are in a relationship, so I'm staying at his residence.

[She supposes most would be upset her partner hadn't mentioned them but... No. She wasn't. What did it matter? Besides, that wasn't the sort of person Newt was.]

Did Credence forget to mention?

O.. Oh! I didn't realise, I thought you were just really good friends, I'm sorry.

[Newt and Credence didn't mention that at all which surprised Hermione - she thought Newt would have mentioned something about Ivy while they were at the Ruins.]

No, he didn't say anything, though he might have thought it wasn't his place to.

Well, we are also good friends. As you should be with someone you're dating.

[We don't talk about the Ruin's trip.]

Perhaps. He's sharing the house too though, with his own room of course, so I would have thought it came up during the conversation.

[She shrugs and tucks a lock of her red hair behind her ear.]

I'm afraid my boys find me rather forgettable most days. I suppose I don't leave much of an impression on them.

Well, I guess that's true? I...don't really have any experience in that area.

[A light blush spreads across her cheeks.]

Credence only really said Mr Scamander lets him stay at the cottage, and in return he helps with chores.

I'm sure that's not the case! You're a very interesting person, not easily forgotten...Maybe they've just been busy? Or didn't think it relevant to say anything?

I'm more than certain it will happen. Give it time.

[Her expression is knowing.]

You really don't need to come up with excuses for them, it's fine.

[There's that look again that Hermione can't quite decipher.]

Well, I'm certainly in no rush - my studies tend to take up most of my time anyway.

... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound presumptuous. You know both of them far better than me.

I think you could argue you know Credence more than I. Regardless, it's really of no matter, dear.

I'm not sure about that, I mean, we've only hung out a couple times.

Anyway, is it okay if I come visit in a couple weeks? I just want to get my pokemon settled here first. What should I bring? Is there any reading you'd like me to do in advance?

Maybe. But he's quiet as a Church mouse most of the time.

Of course, come over whenever you like. If you don't spot me in the cottage I'll be at my allotments by the edge of Ilex. Or perhaps in my lab, just let me know beforehand so I don't miss you.

I'll need to know your base knowledge first so no use in telling you to read things. I'll write some material for you myself once I see what you know. Just bring something to write notes with.

Not a problem, I'll draft up notes on what I've currently learnt and bring those along.

I really should start collecting my pokemon and letting them out so they can settle in, but I'll call you before I visit.

It was really nice talking to you Dr Isley. I'm looking forward to studying under you.
