[Krieg is in a much better mood than he has been in for months. So when the video feed opens up, his masked face is right up against the 'Gear, just like old times, as he excitedly announces:]

Today's my birthday!

Guess my age and win a prize!

And no cheating if you already know!

[Says the man wearing an almost entirely face-obscuring mask. No one said this was going to be easy!]

Please tell they at least tried flattering you with a lower number, rather than adding two decades too many.

Thirty-seven or thirty-eight? ...Seven is supposedly lucky, but this time I have to go with thirty-eight.

There must be a local good luck charm, other than the Happiny line, but I've no idea how much it'd help.

Which one's a Happiny? And why is it lucky?

They're the little pink Pokémon with stones in their pouch, to imitate eggs. I've no idea why they are associated with luck and happiness, though, beyond the fact that the eggs their evolutions produce daily would ensure you never starve.

[He tilts his head and squints at that description. Egg pouches sounds...familiar...like something he sees a lot because he's in and out of Pokemon Centers a lot...]

Are they like the nurse eggs? The big pink ones in the monster clinics?

They're the first stage of that family, yes. You'd think such an association with injuries and illness would be a sign of bad luck instead, and yet...

[And yet they get Lucky Eggs and Luck Incense and a lucky reputation. Go figure.]

If one of your monsters gets sick, wouldn't you want to take it to the place where the lucky monster lives?

[Chanseys are darn good nurses. Krieg is sold on them, anyway.]

...If they had to get sick, I suppose I'd want luck on my side, yes.

[Cecil is used to much prettier nurses. In capes and leotards.]

Yeah! Also when they get hurt!

[Meanwhile, Krieg is used to Doctor Zed, so as far as he's concerned the Chanseys are an improvement.]

Are there any other lucky ones?

Not by reputation, but catching the rarest species in the wild, wuthout depending on a breeder, could be a sign of luck in itself.
