[Krieg is in a much better mood than he has been in for months. So when the video feed opens up, his masked face is right up against the 'Gear, just like old times, as he excitedly announces:]

Today's my birthday!

Guess my age and win a prize!

And no cheating if you already know!

[Says the man wearing an almost entirely face-obscuring mask. No one said this was going to be easy!]

Mnnnn, yeah. The man wearing a face on his face who calls himself Handsome Jack. He says he's a hero but heroes don't murder their children.

[...Man, he was doing so good not mentioning the murder part to the seven year old. Oh, well...]

[You tried, Krieg.]

He killed his own kid? .....why?

[That's... Newt may think her mother betrayed her by dying but she doesn't hold her mother's plan to shoot her and her brother against her. They were in a last stand, surrounded by aliens: a fate worse then death. And more importantly, Newt had convinced her they could escape so she hadn't actually shot them. But actually killing your own kid? That's hard to wrap her mind around.]

And if he's that bad, why isn't he in jail here? Do people not believe you?

He says he did it for Pandora? But he wanted to kill everyone else on Pandora, too!

[It doesn't make any sense to Krieg, and it probably never will.]

She died on Pandora, not here, so I guess it doesn't count! [Which is really annoying.]

....that's stupid. I guess he can't kill people here. But bad people do other bad things that aren't killing people.

[It's just usually where it ends up.]

Why did he want to kill everyone on....Pandora?

[He shrugs.]

He wanted the Vault. People got in his way.

The Firehawk fed him a bullet in the end, though.

[They'd all wanted to feed him a bullet, but damn, Lilith had earned that particular privilege.]

Oh. That doesn't go well.

[She doesn't know what a vault is, but she does know what terrible people are like when other people get in the way of something they want.]

What's a firehawk?

[Is it a fire bird that can shoot things because that sounds amazing.]

[That clarifies nothing.]

[Still not great.]

Lilith! She's small and fierce and she can kill me with her brain!

[Maybe...better...?]

I dunno! It's just something Sirens can do!

[And it is super cool holy shit. Absolutely the coolest.]

I wish I could do that.

[She thinks about it for a moment. Newt, yes apparently.]

I wish I could have killed Burke. He was evil and got everyone I knew killed by monsters. But he's dead already.

I'd use it to kill anyone who tried to hurt us, or stop us when we got back to earth. Probably people from the company. Like Burke was.

[Yo, that sounds perfectly and 100% reasonable to Krieg.]

He sounds like the Jackhole. Sucks you couldn't kill him yourself. But at least he's dead.

Yeah, either the aliens got him or the explosion did. He was terrible. All he cared about was using the aliens for the company.

I hate companies. They say they're nice and that they care about people. Then they let everyone die to try and get something they can't even control. Weapons are more important to them then people.

[Wow, damn, son, those're some uncomfortable parallels.]

He sounds exactly like the Jackhole.
