[And then he mutters to himself, something that's mostly unintelligible because it's all grumbling and turned away from the PokeGear.] God I can't believe I gotta fuckin' actually say this word out loud with my own fuckin' mouth ... [cue a deep, pride gathering sigh, and he looks back. Time for his daily dose of realized unreality.] ...Does anyone got an 'Eeveelution' they're gonna breed soon.

Because I was thinking about what types I'd need to be pretty well rounded out. And I'd kinda like to eventually get a... uh... Sylveon. If not I can pick one up when we eventually get to Goldenrod.

[Which is about as froo froo a purse dog looking a thing as a pocket monster could be as far as he knows. But he's gonna need a fairy type and if he gets a fairy type he wants it to be one he can scruff and that's just facts.]

On that topic what Pokemon would you recommend as mounts 'cause while I appreciate having lost ten pounds in the last month or so I'd like eventually for it to not take a week to reach Frickburg from Frack City? No birds, please.

I've been thinking about it, honestly. I have two, uh... Eeveelutions, plus a regular Eevee that hasn't evolved yet, so I've got a couple options for that.

_{[He hasn't tried to push the evolution issue on little Sylvia - he figures when she's ready to evolve, she'll do it.]}

But, uh... As far as a good riding Pokemon, I've always been partial to my Arcanine. It's different than riding a horse, but he's also a lot faster than one if he really gets going. I think the last time I asked a Jenny to check how fast he was going he hit almost eighty kilometers an hour on a straight stretch, but I almost fell off.

Ever since he finished growing, y-yeah.

_{[Actually, give him a second or two to dig through all of these pictures he has on his 'gear. Well over eighty percent of them are of his various Pokemon, and almost half of them are of Marcel in various points of his life here.]}

I could probably get him to go faster, but I haven't figured out a way to keep myself steady on his back yet even with the harness setup we have. _{[Aaaaaand a few moments later, he sends a slightly crooked shot in some wooded part of a trail with a small campsight behind him.]}

He looks like he'd be slow, but I promise they pick up speed. Plus, uh... With everything getting a little cooler out, it's really nice to have a personal heater like him.

It is going to depend a bit on what sort of mount you are looking for. For example, there are a few pokemon like Rapidash or Mudsdale that closely resemble horses. So those could make good mounts if you already have experience with horseback riding.

But there is a lot of other options too. A friend of mine rides around on his Arcanine. Personally, I've ridden on top of my Steelix from time to time. It's slow going, but she can traverse even the roughest terrain. I know you said no birds, but I've heard Dodrio actually makes a really great mount too. It is incredibly fast on its feet... as long as you can keep its heads from arguing with each other.

Yeah, I think I just heard about that. [The Arcanine, that is.] Tubbs would be pretty good for it, eventually. [He's just gotta figure out all the limitations involved in that.]

You know what, yeah. More interested in hearing about the Steelix than the Dodrio. [Someone's bird phobia probably couldn't handle sassy Cerberus bird eyeballing him from three ways indignantly.]

One of my friends has a Mudsdale. It's absolutely massive, but very even-tempered.

[Also, nobody tell Hank that Dodrio has three hearts to hate with. Three sets of lungs for the chase.]

Well, like I said, Steelix isn't the quickest. If you want to get somewhere fast you are better off with a Rapidash or Arcanine. And due to its size, sometimes it can be impossible to ride it. But if you are ever travelling through the mountains, a pokemon like Steelix really makes the trip so much easier. Not only are they not bothered by the rough terrain, but going uphill or dealing with huge boulders is never a problem. They are even so large that you can easily use them to get up onto higher ledges.

Plus, there aren't a lot of wild pokemon that will pick a fight with a Steelix. If you don't want to spend too much time battling every pokemon you encounter, that can be useful too. And you don't have to worry about packing too much. I'm pretty certain my Steelix could carry twenty people at once easily, so you don't have to worry about your bags being too heavy.

[She's a big spider, but probably not strong enough to carry them on her back. Connor looks over at Hank thoughtfully from where he's sitting with his Pichu and Charlotte, with the Ariados still trying desperately to fit into Connor's lap even though she's too big for that now. He pats her anyway, but makes sure she doesn't step all over him in the process. She's heavy now.]

Not sure I could handle it if she decided sideways was a good idea. But someone said that Arcanine is ridable. So I might look into a fire stone in Goldenrod.

[Tubbs looks up from where he's laying and yawns with a squeak, stretching his toes. Then dramatically flops onto his side for an even harder sleep.]

I think while they're little you're gonna have to start being more stern about when they can get into your lap 'cause they need to remember that when they're bigger. [And Connor can hurt now.]

I suppose any pokemon that’s big enough is technically rideable.

I enjoyed it when she was little. It felt like we were bonding. I didn’t think about the fact that she’d try to do this when she’d evolved.

If you want to ride with speed, comfort and style, get a Bouffalant. They're a bit rare, but they have no evolution, so you can use them the moment you catch or hatch them. As a bonus, they're pretty strong in battle too.

I'll be heading back to Johto shortly, since the Scavenger Hunt is now over and if my eeveelutions have produced a clutch while I've been gone, I'm happy to put one aside for you.

In terms of rideable pokemon, I myself tend to use the big cats, like my Luxray or Pyroar, although it really depends on your weight and the size and strength of the pokemon. If you're looking for speed, Rapidash are extremely fast.

I recently got a Litten so I could work on her, too. Someone was telling me they had good luck with their Arcanine.

Honestly I don't mind having more than one so I don't run one ragged all the time.

Unfortunately, I do not believe mine is interested in breeding at the moment. ['Baby glances at Angel, almost looking mischievous. She doesn't seem to notice.] But, I cannot recommend the type enough. He has been a wonderful companion since our arrival here.

As for your question of travel -- my friend and I make use of his Charizard quite frequently. It may be some work, finding a Charmander and raising it up to the appropriate level, but I don't think you can go wrong with that route.

I've heard of those. [Internally, he kicks himself once more, as he has for decades, for having sold his Charizard card for way too cheap so he could buy his girlfriend at the time a movie ticket. The remorse for the bad investment and wasted money is strong.]

About how long did it take?

[That Sylveon is pretty cute, he's gotta admit. Punching him right in his weak spot for sweet dog/doglike things.]

Someone said Charmander took them a few months to evolve. I don't mind the dragons. [They're much better than trying to work out the logistics of climbing onto the back of a giant bird.]

I use my bat to fly instead.

But if you want big stuff to ride- [She allows herself a little snort of amusement at that.] -pretty much anything large enough to hold your weight is good.

I mostly use my Zebstrika, he's real strong and fast. But I've got Duke my Stoutland, Orc my Onix, or even Caine my Luxray. A few of those are registered to my Page Rider too.
