MISCHIEF NIGHT

Who: All the Dark-types put your paws up!
Where: Anywhere and everywhere!
When: Sunset on Halloween Night to sunrise on November 1st!
Summary: MISCHIEF NIGHT MISCHIEF NIGHT
Rating: G-PG13
Log:
There’s a sour-sweet wind a-blowing this eve as the sun hangs low and red in the sky. The leaves have turned, windows glow like jack-o-lantern eyes, and the streets hum with the excitement that the night will bring. There’s no mysterious trees growing straight out of the concrete this year, and there’s a palpable sense of relief as those who were waiting with bated breath for the other shoe to fall finally set about hanging up last-minute decorations and picking the candy aisles at every PokeMart bare.
It is Halloween, and for the first time in a few years, it would seem nothing is going to get in the way of the holiday.
… At least, right up until the last sliver of sun dips below the horizon.
A flock of Murkrow explodes up from the woods around Violet City, cawing in excitement. On the Sevii Islands, Alolan Rattata pop out of their burrows with bright eyes and quivering noses. In the glens outside Celadon City, the Houndooms start to howl.
Almost as one, all Dark-type Pokemon, big and small, young and old, stop and lift their noses to the crisp breeze. Something ancient tingles in their bones. Oh, tonight...tonight is their night. However much they may love their trainer, something higher is calling them. Mischief! Adventure! CANDY!
It’s time!
Fast or slow, brazen or sneaky, the sunset is the signal for each and every Dark-type to break away from their trainers and run off into the night. To do what? Well what do you think, silly humans? You know what night it is!
Some fashion their own costumes and go door to door earning sweet treats alongside the excited children who are out in droves. Or perhaps they might pursue some more unconventional treat-seeking avenues -- sometimes one man’s trash is another mon’s treat!
But there’s more to Halloween than candy; others will develop a nasty streak and put the ‘trick’ in ‘trick or treat’, upsetting outdoor decorations, frighten childrening and little old ladies, or even pantsing people! The horror! Anything can happen on Halloween!
Even the wild Dark-types are filled with the holiday spirit. Last year everyone was too wrapped up with that Ghost-type nonsense to properly enjoy Halloween, so they’re all too happy to make up for lost time. Harried trainers trying to track down their tricky runaways might find themselves befriending the Poochyenas, Murkrows, or even Alolan Meowths that have come out of the woodwork to celebrate. After all, what good is a grand trick if there’s no one to tell about it? What good is a tasty treat with no one to share? Even trainers who don’t have any Dark-types in their arsenal will find themselves approached by these wild Pokemon and invited to tag along!
y halo
the vulpix goes to scoop up the pail, while marco watches the scene before spotting the gym leader sitting off to the side. he carefully picks his way over to him, crouching down next to him. ]
Hey - are you okay?
halo dere
There's something wrong with these children, and it's probably my fault.
[The 'children' in question start laughing as they continue teasing the cats, and that's when Cecil realizes that he is, in fact, speaking to someone. Immediately, his demeanor switches from '100% done with life' to 'customer service, with a royal touch'. His smile is not quite as bright as it could be, though.]
Welcome to the Lunar Gym! We're having slight difficulties at the moment, but please feel free to use our facilities to avoid the worst of the night.
[Except the cats. There's no avoiding the cats at this point. They're probably slamming into his legs as he speaks.]
no subject
of course, then the cats are swarming around their legs, and there's an aggrieved growl from viola - she's had enough of all of you for one night, thanks! - and marco bends down to pick her up. ]
Oh - thank you, very much. But I'm just here for that one.
[ with a free hand, he points at the shiny one in the garbage cape. ]
You seemed to also be having... difficulties.
no subject
Ah, I fear you'll have trouble taking your cat back. The more their numbers grow, the more excited they become.
[Viola is the most well-behaved Pokémon he's seen the whole night, though, which is why he starts looking through his pockets pour a regular, non-festive treat.]
I offered candy to the first dozen that showed up and they... informed their friends, I imagine. Then those four decided to have their fun, and...
[And the result should be obvious.]
no subject
[ the results are obvious. at least it presents an opportunity to catch sushi back and put her in her ball. (again.) but for now, he holds viola, who curls her tail around her and sniffs haughtily at the meowths around their legs. ]
Viola's been helping me chase down our errant Pokemon. You're not the only one, though - some of my friend's Pokemons have run off or gone pulling tricks as well.
no subject
[Somehow, that sentence manages to explain it all while being a great understatement. A bright red dot starts climbing its way up Cecil's right arm, but a fierce glare quickly puts an end to that plan.]
That's very kind of her, truly. My non-Dark-types have made themselves scarce since night fell; I strongly suspect they've decided to sleep it out. Or they're trying to track down the five that are missing, but if what I've heard about the warps is true I doubt they'll be successful.
my apologies! this week slipped away from me
She's pretty good at herding other Pokemon. [ herding? she's in charge of all of them! rude. ] But you're right about the warp pads. That's how I ended up here - we were chasing her Absol through them.
Weeks are such slippery things.
[There isn't much space for other Pokémon around, really, especially with the extra dozen cats currently sneaking in. Cecil's Pangoro welcomes them with a decidedly evil cackle.]
