MISCHIEF NIGHT

Who: All the Dark-types put your paws up!
Where: Anywhere and everywhere!
When: Sunset on Halloween Night to sunrise on November 1st!
Summary: MISCHIEF NIGHT MISCHIEF NIGHT
Rating: G-PG13
Log:

There’s a sour-sweet wind a-blowing this eve as the sun hangs low and red in the sky. The leaves have turned, windows glow like jack-o-lantern eyes, and the streets hum with the excitement that the night will bring. There’s no mysterious trees growing straight out of the concrete this year, and there’s a palpable sense of relief as those who were waiting with bated breath for the other shoe to fall finally set about hanging up last-minute decorations and picking the candy aisles at every PokeMart bare.

It is Halloween, and for the first time in a few years, it would seem nothing is going to get in the way of the holiday.

… At least, right up until the last sliver of sun dips below the horizon.

A flock of Murkrow explodes up from the woods around Violet City, cawing in excitement. On the Sevii Islands, Alolan Rattata pop out of their burrows with bright eyes and quivering noses. In the glens outside Celadon City, the Houndooms start to howl.

Almost as one, all Dark-type Pokemon, big and small, young and old, stop and lift their noses to the crisp breeze. Something ancient tingles in their bones. Oh, tonight...tonight is their night. However much they may love their trainer, something higher is calling them. Mischief! Adventure! CANDY!

It’s time!

Fast or slow, brazen or sneaky, the sunset is the signal for each and every Dark-type to break away from their trainers and run off into the night. To do what? Well what do you think, silly humans? You know what night it is!

Some fashion their own costumes and go door to door earning sweet treats alongside the excited children who are out in droves. Or perhaps they might pursue some more unconventional treat-seeking avenues -- sometimes one man’s trash is another mon’s treat!

But there’s more to Halloween than candy; others will develop a nasty streak and put the ‘trick’ in ‘trick or treat’, upsetting outdoor decorations, frighten childrening and little old ladies, or even pantsing people! The horror! Anything can happen on Halloween!

Even the wild Dark-types are filled with the holiday spirit. Last year everyone was too wrapped up with that Ghost-type nonsense to properly enjoy Halloween, so they’re all too happy to make up for lost time. Harried trainers trying to track down their tricky runaways might find themselves befriending the Poochyenas, Murkrows, or even Alolan Meowths that have come out of the woodwork to celebrate. After all, what good is a grand trick if there’s no one to tell about it? What good is a tasty treat with no one to share? Even trainers who don’t have any Dark-types in their arsenal will find themselves approached by these wild Pokemon and invited to tag along!

Tonight was rapidly becoming a veritable disaster. Lust didn't know what had gotten into a handful of her Pokemon, but those worked up had taken off the moment they had an opportunity to.

Including the Umbreon pair. Who were the most necessary to contain, and the ones who had managed to work out how to warp. When did Umbreon - or any Pokemon! - figure out how to do that? The 'how' was less important than the getting them back - the two Darks were rather mischievous creatures under normal circumstances. Seeing the chaos of this Halloween night...well, she's rather certain they're going to be more prone to trouble than usual.

So a rather frazzled looking Lust, half wrapped in ghostly gauze and fake cobwebs, pokes her head into the Violet Pokecenter. Violet is her second home, it stood to reason perhaps they'd head there.

"Excuse me...I'm sure tonight's busy enough already....oh!" Well, wasn't that handy! There was Henry, just having set some poor Pokemon to right and returned it to its trainer.

"Henry! Maybe you can help me..."

Henry had paused for a moment, hands on his knees, to puff and wheeze. Spinda were so hard to keep up with, muchless those on roller skates. When he heard his friend's voice he stood and blinked at her a few times.

It was so jarring to suddenly see her here in the flesh when their previous conversation she had only been a tiny square in his hand. It was also jarring to see her so off her game.

"Lust? What's happened it's--good to see you."

"And you."

Despite the circumstances. It was good to see him in the flesh.

"Though honestly I'm not certain what's happened. I've been on a wild hunt for the Umbreon. Whatever's stoked Pokemon spirits tonight has them firmly in its grips. They're bent on destruction and mischief."

She sighed, attempting to arrange herself into something resembling presentable. It wasn't an easy task.

Henry puffed out a defeated little sigh.

"I haven't seen any Umbreon tonight, but I'll keep an eye out. Do you need anything? We have coffee...if someone's Sableye hasn't replaced all the sugar with salt. Again."

He waved her toward the rows of seats in hopes that getting off her feet for just a moment or two would help.

It was imperative she find the Eeeveelutions before they do further damage, but... Coffee was tempting. Were it nearly anyone else offering, she'd likely have declined. But Henry...

Much as she needs to find her misbehaving Pokemon, it's been too long since she spent any time in Henry's presence. It's just good to be near him, to remind herself fully he's here and well.

"I'll have a coffee, yes. Thank you. I have a feeling it's going to be a very, very long and strange night. Envy's off chasing his as well - more of his went wild than mine did."

Sitting also sounded nice.
