MISCHIEF NIGHT

Who: All the Dark-types put your paws up!
Where: Anywhere and everywhere!
When: Sunset on Halloween Night to sunrise on November 1st!
Summary: MISCHIEF NIGHT MISCHIEF NIGHT
Rating: G-PG13
Log:

There’s a sour-sweet wind a-blowing this eve as the sun hangs low and red in the sky. The leaves have turned, windows glow like jack-o-lantern eyes, and the streets hum with the excitement that the night will bring. There’s no mysterious trees growing straight out of the concrete this year, and there’s a palpable sense of relief as those who were waiting with bated breath for the other shoe to fall finally set about hanging up last-minute decorations and picking the candy aisles at every PokeMart bare.

It is Halloween, and for the first time in a few years, it would seem nothing is going to get in the way of the holiday.

… At least, right up until the last sliver of sun dips below the horizon.

A flock of Murkrow explodes up from the woods around Violet City, cawing in excitement. On the Sevii Islands, Alolan Rattata pop out of their burrows with bright eyes and quivering noses. In the glens outside Celadon City, the Houndooms start to howl.

Almost as one, all Dark-type Pokemon, big and small, young and old, stop and lift their noses to the crisp breeze. Something ancient tingles in their bones. Oh, tonight...tonight is their night. However much they may love their trainer, something higher is calling them. Mischief! Adventure! CANDY!

It’s time!

Fast or slow, brazen or sneaky, the sunset is the signal for each and every Dark-type to break away from their trainers and run off into the night. To do what? Well what do you think, silly humans? You know what night it is!

Some fashion their own costumes and go door to door earning sweet treats alongside the excited children who are out in droves. Or perhaps they might pursue some more unconventional treat-seeking avenues -- sometimes one man’s trash is another mon’s treat!

But there’s more to Halloween than candy; others will develop a nasty streak and put the ‘trick’ in ‘trick or treat’, upsetting outdoor decorations, frighten childrening and little old ladies, or even pantsing people! The horror! Anything can happen on Halloween!

Even the wild Dark-types are filled with the holiday spirit. Last year everyone was too wrapped up with that Ghost-type nonsense to properly enjoy Halloween, so they’re all too happy to make up for lost time. Harried trainers trying to track down their tricky runaways might find themselves befriending the Poochyenas, Murkrows, or even Alolan Meowths that have come out of the woodwork to celebrate. After all, what good is a grand trick if there’s no one to tell about it? What good is a tasty treat with no one to share? Even trainers who don’t have any Dark-types in their arsenal will find themselves approached by these wild Pokemon and invited to tag along!

[It sounds very cute. Alex glances over to see them.]

Thanks for the tip. ...That includes you, Vlad.

[Glancing over at the Litwick who is not at all sulking at that fact being revealed. he totally is. She sighs and keeps the silly string.]

Not totally new to pranking, as much as they seem to think. They have had more than enough pranks tonight however. I'm not sure what's gotten into them.

Yeah me neither. I just spotted a Sneasel running down the street that I'm pretty sure is mine, but I haven't let him out of the computer box in months so...there's that too.

[Thankfully her Espeon is behaving itself. She offers it an appreciative ear scratch.]

I am rapidly approaching a level of do not care because I'm pretty sure they'll come back in the morning. At least mine will, they know where the food comes from. But if we're thinking of joining in the fun I might suggest we find some otherwise distracted victims.

Oh that's new. ...and probably not good.

[Sighs slightly before looking over at the Spiritomb which is somehow managing to look smug.]

Well, I might as well supervise them for a bit. Trying to get them to stop is clearly not working. At least this way I can stop them from stetting fire to anything. Hopefully.

So, sure. Why not.

[She will probably regret this, but meanwhile her pokemon are pretty sure their plan worked and look at their trainer, she's learning!]

I mean it's not the worst thing...beats the hell out of when the pokegods were rampaging.

That being said I figure it's best to go with the flow till we figure out who to blame.

SO! What do we have to work with other then silly string? Some costumes, plenty of chaos to distract people. The easiest solution I guess would be to find somewhere to hide and hose someone down when they least expect it. But maybe we can spice that up somehow?

[Her Espeon yawns apparently not totally on board with this scheme but she's not stopping her either.]
isleavepossible: (Okay strange noise that's fine)

Well we could always-

[No, actually that first part.]

Wait, sorry. I'm still sort of new here. There were gods rampaging? When was this?

Eh, a while ago. Caused some natural disasters. We actually got pretty close to a few of the god pokemon and frankly? Not that impressive.

Seemed kinda pouty if you ask me.

[Espeon doesn't seem to like her trainer bad mouthing the pokemon gods and looks a little nervously at the sky.]

We basically just spent a week cleaning up their mess till someone figured out why they were mad.

Did they act like kids? I've never met gods, but there's a group of spirits that I've been stuck with for a while at home and I'm pretty sure they have the maturity of children.

[You can feel bad for them and still be frustrated by the way they act.]
badluckbabe: (Frown: Considering it)

[personal profile] badluckbabe 2018-11-07 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
I mean kind of yeah?

They were basically throwing tantrums with no accounting for how it would effect us mere mortals.

Then again now that I think about it, the gods back in my world seemed to have a sick sense of humor too. I read up on them in school and they were always screwing with us for one reason or another.

[That's the trouble of having Wonder Woman exist and basically confirm that Greek Gods are real and not the only ones out there.]

Kinda glad I don't know if any gods exist in my world. Trapped spirits are enough for me. Yeah, let's stop and hold a game of hangman in the middle of a night of horror. Totally mature and reasonable.

[She hated that game, so, so much. However her pokemon are starting to get sulky. And she points over to the spiritomb.]

But, pranks then? I think the Sunken are going to go off on their own if I don't go along with it soon.
