MISCHIEF NIGHT

Who: All the Dark-types put your paws up!
Where: Anywhere and everywhere!
When: Sunset on Halloween Night to sunrise on November 1st!
Summary: MISCHIEF NIGHT MISCHIEF NIGHT
Rating: G-PG13
Log:
There’s a sour-sweet wind a-blowing this eve as the sun hangs low and red in the sky. The leaves have turned, windows glow like jack-o-lantern eyes, and the streets hum with the excitement that the night will bring. There’s no mysterious trees growing straight out of the concrete this year, and there’s a palpable sense of relief as those who were waiting with bated breath for the other shoe to fall finally set about hanging up last-minute decorations and picking the candy aisles at every PokeMart bare.
It is Halloween, and for the first time in a few years, it would seem nothing is going to get in the way of the holiday.
… At least, right up until the last sliver of sun dips below the horizon.
A flock of Murkrow explodes up from the woods around Violet City, cawing in excitement. On the Sevii Islands, Alolan Rattata pop out of their burrows with bright eyes and quivering noses. In the glens outside Celadon City, the Houndooms start to howl.
Almost as one, all Dark-type Pokemon, big and small, young and old, stop and lift their noses to the crisp breeze. Something ancient tingles in their bones. Oh, tonight...tonight is their night. However much they may love their trainer, something higher is calling them. Mischief! Adventure! CANDY!
It’s time!
Fast or slow, brazen or sneaky, the sunset is the signal for each and every Dark-type to break away from their trainers and run off into the night. To do what? Well what do you think, silly humans? You know what night it is!
Some fashion their own costumes and go door to door earning sweet treats alongside the excited children who are out in droves. Or perhaps they might pursue some more unconventional treat-seeking avenues -- sometimes one man’s trash is another mon’s treat!
But there’s more to Halloween than candy; others will develop a nasty streak and put the ‘trick’ in ‘trick or treat’, upsetting outdoor decorations, frighten childrening and little old ladies, or even pantsing people! The horror! Anything can happen on Halloween!
Even the wild Dark-types are filled with the holiday spirit. Last year everyone was too wrapped up with that Ghost-type nonsense to properly enjoy Halloween, so they’re all too happy to make up for lost time. Harried trainers trying to track down their tricky runaways might find themselves befriending the Poochyenas, Murkrows, or even Alolan Meowths that have come out of the woodwork to celebrate. After all, what good is a grand trick if there’s no one to tell about it? What good is a tasty treat with no one to share? Even trainers who don’t have any Dark-types in their arsenal will find themselves approached by these wild Pokemon and invited to tag along!
dear old eckrufjdksls
She looks his costume over again, eyebrows quirking up. ]
... You wanted to dress up like a blood-sucking monster?
[ Is it just her who does not like the too close to home parallels? ]
i'm deliberately echoing danny here
[ marco turns a little, grabbing hold of the cape and lifting it up. ]
Besides, I kind of like the cape.
[ viola gives a little chirp of approval when marco poses, looking up at annie and arlert curiously. ]
so basically these are two cape boys
[ They have the half-capes from the corps, and then there's the full cloaks for winter weather while traveling, so she doesn't... really get the appeal to the flimsier looking cape.
Then again she's dressed like a country girl gone to detect crimes in the city. What the hell does she know about fashion.
Arlert chirp-hoos down to Viola, recognising her and looking pleased. She compliments them both, at least, so Viola can know that she and Marco have at least one admirer. ]
two spooky ghouls
[ for lack of a better word, that's what he's determined it's about. he doesn't know what annie is dressed up as, despite just being something, well, vaguely from home.
viola yips back her thanks, as well as complimenting annie's outfit. it looks good on her!
there's a nearby yell, and then a cackle marco is getting all too familiar with. ]
... We should probably get after them?
deadbois, come back to lyfe
... A country girl.
[ She says this as deadpan as possible. Simple costume idea, right? It's just about dressing up like something you're not.
The yell has her turning her head, lifting an arm up toward her circling hoothoot
who never landed because I forgot she was up in the air.]Yes, we should. Arlert, can you see Lute?
[ Arlert gains some altitude, calling out a confirmation hoot and angling toward Lute. It's thankfully following the already established roadways, since Lute wants candy, so he's acting the steed galavanting toward the nearest candy source. As it turns out, that's a neighbourhood of houses down the way.
In the process of following Arlert again, Annie fists one hand in the skirts of her dress once more and picks up to a jog. It's more irritating that this material has a habit of trying to gather between her legs rather than flow properly around it, and is just long enough that running with her skirts left untouched borders on dangerously bothersome. ]
She sees them down there!
[ She calls out, gesturing toward where Arlert has gone into a silent dive and elicited a "sol!" response before fluttering her way onto a perch on a lamp post. ]
no subject
either way, marco can see the houses coming up on the roadway, and the outraged meowth! that arlert garners in her swoop. ]
More trick or treating?
[ the speed at which they're running is nothing, unencumbered by gear or a fear for their lives. he could keep this up a while. ]
Did he start acting up at sundown?
no subject
[ Marco, you're so fresh from training you're one of the few Annie expects will keep up without pause. She glances his way when he asks about the sundown timing, lips pressing into a frown. ]
Yes, not long after. Was it the same with your...
[ Arlert calls out in another hoot from where she's perched, Lute and Sushi moving right up to the first door behind a trio of kids dressed as a ghost, a pikachu, and a trash can. Annie can see them through a gap in the crowd, though they're still weaving through people to get there before the pokemon duo is off to their next candy slam. ]
no subject
[ case in point - the candy duo ahead of them. viola gives a little cackle, tapping one kid's head and when they look the other way, she sneaks a couple pieces into her pail, before sitting back on lute, looking innocent as can be.
or as a cat with a garbage bag for a cape can look. ]
no subject
[ Sushi's worse. Sushi is far worse than Sasha has ever been. Lute makes a disapproving noise and shoots an unhappy glare back at Sushi for having done that; he wants candy, too, but not to steal it from other candy-seekers. Just from the people being so magnanimous to hand it out for free!
... Granted, he isn't bucking her off, so how effective is it? ]
... Worse than Sasha at orientation.
[ ANNIE, PLEASE ]
How ready are you to tackle a pokemon?
no subject
[ wouldn't that mean she is going to listen to him?? annie, please educate the fool.
sushi shrugs back at lute, but keeps her paws on the pail for now instead of going for more. free ride - she's not going to piss him off! ]
... She is being pretty bad.
[ when she asks that, marco shrugs at her. ]
I'm ready if we have to? It might be our only option.
[ viola barks. she can put ice on people too! ]</small.
no subject
[ Pokemon aren't so far detached from their own lived examples that she can't help the look of disbelief on her face. Marco, what the hell kind of instant loyalty and blind devotion do you expect?
Lute seems appeased when Sushi opts to keep her paws on her own pail, hopping over a patch of lawn to hit up the next person handing out candy. Lute sidles up to allow Sushi to look cute and bewitching, prancing a little so his bell peals. ]
Agreed.
[ Annie glances at Viola. ]
And with whatever help you're offering too, Viola.
[ She doesn't discount Marco's ability to help. His reflexes are good, and unlike so many of their peers, they aren't dulled by peace yet. (Yet.) ]
With how they're moving... we can head them off before they hit the next intersection. If we split up...
[ She gestures to where having them come from two covered angles, the buildings preventing escape in one direction, and the crowd-facing side slowing down their pokemon, they may have a good chance of putting a stop to this. Maybe. ]
