[ Romelle decided to find an out-of-the-way grove to set up camp for the night and figured that she might as well send out a message. She hasn't seen any familiar faces yet, but that doesn't mean that they're not around. Her Growlithe curls on her lap to keep her warm while she sets up her 'gear.

Mumbling: ] The red light is on, so it must be... Oh, hello! My name is Romelle and I'm a new "Trainer." I am not quite sure what that means and that woman rushed me out of the house before really answering any of my questions.

[ She huffs a little. It was rather rude. ]

Anyway. If anyone out there has advice or information for a new Trainer, I would greatly appreciate it.

[ She gives the camera a small and slightly self-conscious wave before turning off her 'gear. ]

Holding up okay? Has anyone said they'd come for you, yet?

Yeah, she does that to everyone. And she's certainly not my mother. Not enough red hair.

[There's a man on the 'gear, wearing a lab coat, a scar on his cheek, and an awkward smile.]

My advice is probably a bit too academic, but there are some books to read that summarize things pretty well.

[Since Shiro got him a Skarmory and he already had the Fly TM, Keith makes it over to Cherrygrove pretty quick. He's still his larger build, but with his longer hair pulled back and a bit of a tan going. Torracat is still large and riding his shoulder but Keith looks a bit more relaxed climbing off Skarmory.]

Romelle?

[An unfamiliar face greets her. The background is fairly indistinct. Definitely beach-y, but not much in terms of recognizable landmarks.]

There should be a basic guide in the backpack you got. But if you have any specific questions, I could try and help answer them as well. Most people have a lot of questions when they first arrive.

Hi, my name's Newt.

There's a map on your gear. You should travel to Cherrygrove, it's only three days away from where you wake up and you can sleep at the pokecenter for free there. It's not good to sleep in the cold. When I got here it was winter too.

Oh that lady lies to everyone, so she wouldn't have any good advice anyway.

[It's been almost a year and no, Newt is not over her hatred of the lying "mom".]

Ha, yeah, it can be pretty confusing when you first get here! I'm Korra.

So...there's a whole lot of information that's good to know from the start. But there is a guide in your bag that's really helpful! And plenty of us who can help clear things up, too.

[ Romelle nods. ]

Keith said that he's on his way to pick me up.

[ She is very mistakenly assuming there's a space ship or a shuttle involved. Haha oops. ]

Hello Romelle, my name is Connor. The woman at the house isn't very helpful, but you'll find the other trainers and breeders here are. There should be a book in your backpack that answers most of your questions, but I'd be happy to elaborate if anything confuses you.

As for general advice... that Growlithe you have will evolve to be very large one day, if you use the appropriate stone on it.

[He switches the camera to focus on a huge Arcanine resting on the floor at the foot of a hotel bed. The bed is a double, but the Arcanine still makes the bed look small.]

It can get a little cramped in a small room.

[Especially with a Magnezone hovering about, too.]

[ Romelle squints at the screen for a moment. He looks a little like... ]

Wait. You're Pidge's brother, aren't you?

[ She remembers seeing him around the Garrison, though they haven't exactly had a proper conversation or anything. ]

Good. Hang in there. If he's flying, he'll be there soon.

[He should be, considering the Skarmory he has now...]

We'll see if we can get the place cleaned up a bit, before you get here.

[ It's cold, but Romelle decides to sit outside of the Pokemon center anyway-- it's the most noticeable building, so she decides that it's the easiest to find.

Her Growlithe perks up from his spot on her lap and jumps down right away. Romelle looks over and perks up immediately. She breaks into a light jog, even though she's tired. ]

Keith! That was much faster than I expected.

Are you native to this planet?

[ He looks human, and there are a lot of humans? ]

[Oh good, he got the right place. He's never been a smiley kind of guy, but the corners of his lips turn up a little when he sees her.

Okay. They're almost all here. Now they just need Allura, Coran, Kosmo... Kolivan, his mom.... Man, they're still short a lot of people.

For now, he raises a hand in a wave.]

Yeah, took a shortcut. [His Skarmory behind him makes a trill.]

No. I was brought here as well, same as you. In fact, I think the only people who have access to this network are non-natives.

[ She smiles. ] Hello, Newt.

[ Romelle frowns slightly. ] Yes, other people have said that she claimed to be their mother too. I wonder why she lies to everyone. It's very unkind.

It's nice to meet you, Korra.

[ Even in all of the confusion, she remembers her Manners. ]

How many others are there?

Nice to meet you, too.

There's a lot of us. I don't know the exact number right now, but dozens and dozens. People come in almost every week or so, but sometimes there'll be nobody for a while or a bunch of people all at once. No one's really entirely sure how it all works, but there's a lot of theories and some of them have pretty convincing evidence. And involve...a lot of stuff you don't have context for yet....

Hello, Connor.

[ Romelle's eyes widen when she sees the Arcaninine. Her Growlithe, meanwhile, pokes his nose at the 'gear. See? One day he'll be that big, trainer! ]

A stone will change my Growlithe?

[ Guess who kind of skimmed the beginner's guide but didn't pay attention. ]

Yes, if you choose to use it. You would have to buy the stone first, though. There are many different stones that evolve certain other pokemon. Most pokemon evolve without using items, but Growlithe requires a Fire Stone.

[The camera pans to a Raichu next, who gives Romelle a cheerful "Rairai!".]

This is a Raichu, for example. I had to use a Thunder Stone to evolve him from a Pikachu.

[ Romelle smiles. They're already a place for her. It's a nice feeling. ]

Where is 'here'?

[ She knows she'll be there soon but she can't help but be curious anyway. ]

[Of course there's a place. He may not know her, but the others do. She knows them... and she needs a place to stay. So of course, he's going to offer.]

The team and I are staying in a house south of where you are. Here --

[He'll swing the camera slowly around the house. He's in the kitchen, now, but out the window is a clear view of the beach. Of the rolling waves, rolling Voltorbs, rolling Spheals... the Tropius munching palm leaves.]

-- I've been living here about a year now. The others moved in soon after.

[ She matches his trace of a smile with a bright one of her own. Her Growlithe, meanwhile, politely noses at Keith's hand and gives him a doggie smile. He appreciated being admired.

It's then that she looks over and sees the giant metal bird. Her mouth falls open. ]

What is that?

[ Romelle and her Growlithe lean forward. She knows that's not how cameras work, but she can't help but be intensely curious the more she sees. The living space is far more personalized than the Garrison quarters she'd been assigned. ]

Is that the ocean?

[ She'd seen it from space and couldn't help being a little disappointed when they landed in a desert. ]

It is. You shouldn't lie about important things like that. Besides, everyone knows it isn't true so it's just stupid.

[Very strong feels about this.]

But there's not really that much in the town and she's always there. So once you leave you don't have to see her ever again.

[ She frowns. ]

That is... strange.

[ Why are they given a private network? ]

Do you know why we are here? I understand that they want me to be a 'trainer,' but none of them seem bothered if I do what I was assigned to do or not.
