Wingulls wheel and dive in the salty springtime air of Olivine City's harbor, as white as the gleaming sides of the ship moored directly below. The S.S. Aqua isn't an infrequent visitor in the slightest, but this time it's for a very special occasion! Colorful banners stream from the sides, each one proudly declaring the word PROM in glittery font.

The boarding starts around noon on Friday, and the sight of the huge ship alone is enough to get many people and Pokemon swept up in the party atmosphere. The captain is even there when the ramp is rolled out, wanting to welcome each otherworlder onto the boat personally with a hearty handshake and (mentioning he's a renowned 'people reader'), a recommendation on what part of the cruise he thinks they'll like best based solely on a glance. Weirdly enough, guests might find that he's usually right!

Unsurprisingly, it takes a good long while for everyone to get on board and accounted for, which leaves each guest with plenty of time to find their rooms, dump their luggage, let their Pokemon out to stretch their legs a little, and finally head back to the deck to wave goodbye to the harbor as the SS Aqua heads out onto the open water.

IT'S FINALLY HERE, THE BEST TIME OF YEAR!


For the next three days until it makes its way back to shore on Monday, the lucky cruisegoers can live it up as much as they want. And, as the captain boasts over the announcement system once things are underway, the S.S. Aqua and its staff truly are the hosts with the most-- not even Gorgeous Resort has as much variety as this!

THE ATTRACTIONS

FIRST OF ALL, THE ROOMS!

Each room is fitted with either one or two king-sized beds, making them perfect to share with partners or friends, along with a wide-screen TV, dimmable lights, and fancy bathrooms. With little soaps that have "Please Steal Us!" printed into them.

Depending on whether they're exterior or interior rooms, they may or may not have porthole windows and balconies on the outside.

Check out the "Mood" channel on your TVs, you won't be disappointed.

GET YOUR SWIM ON @ THE WATER PARK

Possibly the first thing about the ship that most people notice (because it's noticeable from a mile away) are the set of pools and waterslides (proudly titled the Winged Mirage Pools) on the very top deck. It's about as wild as it gets while staying within the acceptable safety level for being pools on top of a huge boat. Each pool has its own set of waterslides that turn and twist to your heart’s content, so be mindful of your fellow guests rushing out to drop in on the fun!

Lifeguards are stationed and well-equipped to keep watch over patrons, and will do their best to keep the pools’ populations separated according to the ship’s rules. It would be unsafe, after all, for a small Pokemon to be bowled over by a group of rowdy folks playing water volleyball, or some similar incident.

The Articuno Pool is limited to human swimmers only! It has a small cold-water jaccuzi on the side, and the mosaic tile laid down looks quite similar to deep arctic ice. Pokemon are allowed in the vicinity of the pool but not within the pool itself.

The Zapdos Pool is special pool just for small to medium sized Pokemon to enjoy! It is staggered in two “tiers” and features greenery and water properly calibrated to suit even the pickiest sea Pokemon’s taste. Humans are allowed to supervise their Pokemon, but are asked to not interfere with the many Lifeguard Starmie on duty.

The Moltres Pool, flanked by two warm jacuzzis, is where people and small Pokemon are allowed to swim together! The water is calibrated carefully to be safe for all swimmers, and while it is expected for swimmers to get a little rowdy, Pokemon larger than their trainers are asked to refrain from cannon-balling, for the safety of everyone around them.

IT'S NOT PROM WITHOUT DANCING!

For the main dancing action, you’ll want to go to the Nido-King and Queen Ballroom. There, you can get down and funky with friends and your roster alike in your nicest prom duds to tunes spun out by a live DJ, who will happily and eagerly take your song requests. Don’t be shy, bust out those moves you’ve been holding onto all year!

For those of you who might prefer an all-night techno thump to your dancing, the Porygon2 Discotheque will keep you up and about long into the wee hours of the morning. Featuring actual Porygon2 assisting their DJ trainer, you’ll have their ill mixes and projected lights guiding you into perpetual party heaven.

AND IT'S NOT A PARTY WITHOUT FOOD AND DRINK!

Food is plentiful on board, nowhere more so than Wailord’s Bounty, a buffet operating round the clock to make sure all guests have the chance to fill their plates with delicious morsels whenever they want. While there’s plenty to go around for people and Pokemon, cruise staff do ask that Munchlax and Snorlax are not brought into the buffet. There have been... incidents.

For those looking for fine dining in the evening, look no further than The Mother-of-Clamperl. Slightly fancier than the other areas of the cruise, guests are expected to be dressed somewhat nicely. No showing up in flip-flops! Wear a dress shirt and have some champagne!

Somewhere in between on the fanciness spectrum, The Shiny Corsola may look like a gaudy bar, but lurking in that sparkly, shimmery haven is a smooth nightlife scene with all of the fancy liquor and exquisite jazz you could ever want. The jazz is live, by the way - the Jazzypuffs play an ever-rotating set for your listening pleasure, setting the mood for a sweet, sexy, relaxing night away from the hustle and bustle of cruise life.

AS FOR NON-AQUATIC RECREATION...

The Radical Croconaw Cove is the dope place to chill for preteen and teen promgoers, ya dig? Chock full of tubular snacks and stocked with retro video games that are the bomb-diggety, this is the off-the-hook zone to get your chill on! There’s also some board games too, for you tabletop nerds who want to squeeze a session in.

If you’re after live entertainment, Sudowoodo Centerstage has all your needs covered. Live comedy? Check. Sketches and skits performed by an ever-rotating cast of human and Pokemon actors fresh from Unova’s Pokemon Musical stage? Check! Opportunities for open mic performances by guests? Oh, honey, that box is done CHECKED! That’s right, guests of all species are encouraged to come on up and belt out that Lady Gardevoir cover that’s been stuck in their head, or perform in any other way! the only limitation is that guests are asked to keep Pokemon moves involved to non-destructive ones. After all, this is a cruise ship, not a Contest! And renovating a ship stage can be pricey.

While Goldenrod and Celadon have their Game Corners, the SS Aqua has the Mystery Egg Arcade, welcoming all ages to come and earn technicolor tickets via timing, chance, sharp eyes, and steady hands! Your first twenty tokens are complimentary, the rest shockingly reasonable in price (the equivalent of twenty-five cents per token), and the prizes you can glean are, while not the usual battle items or rare Pokemon, still very nice! Everything from well-made toys to good quality candies to the usual arcade bits and bobs like whoopie cushions and harmonicas, tiny parachute plastic figurines and paper finger traps...it’s all here, and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg in tickets to win it, either!

For those looking for more intellectually stimulating pursuits, the Mantine Maritime Library offers a decent selection of reading materials, all seafaring in nature. From glossy photo spreads of underwater expeditions to reproductions of nautical journals from early sailors in Johto and Kanto history, this place has...well, not everything, but enough to whet your academic appetite.

What cruise ship is complete without an awesome rock wall to climb? Shuckle’s Challenge is specifically for humans, and any Pokemon that can’t learn Rock Climb or similar moves. It’s a test of ability and will, and the top of the rock wall offers a grand prize - the most spectacular view of the open sea on the entire ship.

Colorful and cheerful, Phanpy’s Putting Green is exactly the kind of kid friendly minigolf experience you could come to expect from the Pokemon world. Springy green turf adorned with figurines and obstacles depicting various baby Pokemon in play, it’s a hit with little children as much as it’s amusing for all ages to play a round or two together.

No ship is complete without a place to get in some rigorous physical activity, and The Rink is the perfect place to do so! Fitted with colored spotlights, this arena is fitted with all sorts of sports stuff that shifts throughout the day. For a few hours, it’s a basketball court, then, poof! It shifts to tennis, or racketball, or even a roller skating rink! And in the evening, it is of course open to Pokemon battles! Feel like hosting an impromptu tourney in your friend group with your best partners? This is the place to do it!

...And oh, don’t worry. We didn’t forget the most essential cruise amenity of all. Shuffle board courts can be found where you least expect them, and are always maintained by at least one friendly-looking elderly staff member willing to show you or your Pokemon the ropes. It’d be criminal not to make sure everyone has access to this timeless and treasured activity!

AND ONCE YOU'RE DONE PARTYING HARD...

Rejuvination is the core to the SS Aqua’s Max Revive Spa Center. Equipped with saunas, mineral soaks, and fancy mud masks, you’ll feel like a new ‘Mon once you emerge from their pampering. There’s even a special Trainer and Pokemon massage package for those of you who would like to try and improve your bond with one of your partners. Does it work? Only one way to find out...

While they may not have a specific name, the outdoor deck lounges can be found most everywhere on the outer decks, offering peaceful views of the ocean and any land in the distance that the ship might pass. These decks are awesome places to work on your tan or read a book or chat with a friend without disturbing others or being disturbed, and hold wonderfully atmospheric aesthetics for anyone looking to spot breaching sea Pokemon or take pictures.

[Dandy is absolutely the kind of person who would jump at the chance to take on a free cruise, possible jellyfish attacks be damned. And as a lover of all things Hawaii and tropical, he's definitely dressed for the occasion. Yeah, that's right, he knows who he is. He even wears his little comfey as a stand-in lei, only this time it's appropriate. It's party time, baby.]

Moltres Pool

[Although Dandy would've liked to spend his time figuring out Pokémon surfing, a dip in the pool with his little monsters didn't sound like a bad idea. He even remembered to pack some swim trunks so he can be the prettiest boy in the pool.

The only problem is that most of his "little" monsters are quite large monsters, and Ass Rat and Honolulu Hot Wings apparently had more important things to do. So it's just him and Martini, his little deino, splashing about as they work on her doggie paddle.

She's definitely a cave dwelling Pokémon, nothing about this feels natural, but she feels safe with Dandy. She strains as she kicks her legs, trying to get some kinda motion going.]

C'mon Martini, you fight the freakin' ocean all the time. You're gonna tell me a pool's gonna beat you...

[T-That's right! She does like to bite at the surf whenever they go to the beach. With a little more motivation, Martini kicks it into high gear, playfully bumping into her trainer and celebrating her tiny victory. It's kind of funny, with the way the water brings Dandy's hair down and causing bangs to stick all over his face, the two of them look a lot alike...]

Wailord's Bounty (Ass Rat)

[Ass Rat wasn't much for swimming, she's a gigantic skuntank after all. With all that fluff, the water would only weigh her down and make her look ridiculous, so she was fine giving Dandy and Martini time to play by themselves. It gave her time to explore the ship, something she never thought she'd be able to do in a million years. She was a street Pokémon back in Goldenrod for most of her life, who would've thought SHE'D ever be in a fancy place like this?

A bell around her neck jingles as she roams, a gift from her trainer and the only thing keeping her from having a heart attack right now. After all, if she's wearing something, then people know she belongs to someone and won't kick her off for being some kinda stowaway!! Haha... Okay, so it's a lingering worry having spent years getting chased out of trash cans, but Ass Rat tries to keep her mind off of it. She's a welcomed guest she repeats in her head before finally catching something that peaks her interest.

Food.

A whole bunch of delicious looking food. Her mouth waters as she rushes inside, but without her trainer, she doesn't exactly have a way to get a plate for herself. She's gonna have to...ask for help.

The only problem is she's a skunk almost the size of a horse, not exactly the champion beggar type. Somehow that doesn't stop her from making puppy dog eyes at the nearest person. Someone help a hungry gal out??]

Ballroom

[What some might call the main event, and Dandy is totally dressed for the occasion. He's done this song and dance before, don't think for one second he doesn't already consider himself the prom king. He's even managed to score a date...somehow. Yup, it's good to be king.

In a weird turn of events, it's Dandy's deino Martini who seems to take a big interest in the dance as well. Wearing something completely out of character for her, the usually rough and tumble dragon looks absolutely elegant tonight. She's even managed to refrain from tearing up her dress! Or anything, for that matter!

Instead, she pretends to be the perfect little socialite, making chattering noises that are supposed to be pleasant conversations, offering her...um, front paw to anything who acknowledges her.]

You gotta kiss her hand... [Dandy will inform the unlucky victim Martini's decided to play her games with.] And you gotta call her "Lady Martini" or else she's gonna bite your balls off.

[Martini smiles. She will absolutely bite your balls off.]

[ jack just looks at dandy with the deadest look he can manage because he's only accepting part of this game. who he did bring over here, though, is her good friend bandit, who has had his tie done up in a windsor so that he matches martini's lovely get up.

he gives a chatter back, taking her paw and making a show of pressing his muzzle to it. lady martini, what do you think of the place so far?

jack shakes his head but looks at dandy. ]

So, have you met up with your date yet?

[Martini's head whips away from Jack, he's officially being ignored for the rest of the night, how dare! Of course, there's a smile on her face as she acts all "offended," apparently snubbing people is all part of the fancy lady act.

Thank Arceus for Bandit though, picking up the manners Jack apparently left behind. There's a big ol grin on her face as Bandit's muzzle touches her paw, and her little tail wags rapidly from under her dress. She did it. She is A Lady™.

If she could see, she'd probably comment on his outfit, instead she can only comment how lovely the atmosphere is etc etc, let's dance already!! Using her mouth, she starts to guide Bandit towards the dance floor...]

She's around here somewhere. [Dandy takes a sip of his drink as he watches his deino toddle off. Ass Rat's still sitting next to him, much more of a wallflower than either Martini or her trainer. She's just happy to be here.] You ever seen a chick get excited about...everything? I can't stop that kind of wonder, I gotta let her live her dreams, go through the motions of her own destiny.

[A pause.]

...I might've lost her.

[ bandit is just fine being tugged towards the dance floor. since martini can't see the people looking at them, he waves to them with a happy growl. they .. may be getting some space on the dance floor, but that's fine, they'll need it with the length of martini's Proper Lady Gown.

jack crouches down a bit to pet ass rat behind the ears, always happy to see the more anxious but well behaved member of dandy's team.

he does quirk an eyebrow. ]

Can't say I have, but from what I've seen of her, she's a sweetheart. [ so he's not surprised.

meanwhile, from under the table (? how), a white and blue ribbon pops up holding a pink bow. heeeey ass raaaaat. ]

... How'd you lose her. She's got bright pink hair.

[Thankfully Dandy's skuntank isn't a massive ball of stress right now and her tongue pokes out as she enjoys a good pet. She's with her trainer again, her friends, and she proooooobably spent a lot of time at the spa to calm down. She doesn't even jump when Jolene's ribbons snake their way up to her. Ah yes, totally normal-- Wait, what?

Ass Rat whips her head in a double take as the bow comes ever closer. W-What's going on here?!]

Yeah, and she's also a giant. It's a big ship, okay? [Plus Rose is a grown woman, surely she can take care of herself.] Just...y'know, lemme know if you see her before I do...[He clears his throat a bit as he starts to fix his collar. Sadly he doesn't have a tie to play with...] Dandy needs to make an entrance for her.

[When Martini feels like they're properly out on the dance floor, she finally lets go of his arm and turns around at him expectantly. The gentleman is supposed to lead, or so she's heard, don't make her wait too long.

...Or else she might take things into her own hands. And no one wants that.]

[ jolene's head pops up from under the tablecloth, chirping happily at ass rat. she quickly pushes the ribbon and ties it around her neck, giving her a cute little bow. there! outfit complete.

jack chuckles. ]

All right, kid, I'll let you know if I see her. You've certainly taken the outfit to the next level, at least.

[ listen, bandit is not here to make martini wait! even if he's never danced really, before, he's watched jack. he has an idea here of what to do! he takes martini's two front paws in his own and starts them on a gentle one-two step. ]

[Oh wow, it's the guy from the network! It's good to see him in person, it's just too bad it looks like he's one wrong move away from getting his balls bitten off. Dandy gives a lazy shrug.]

Look, she ain't aiming for perfect, buddy.

[Martini can only further emphasize how hard she's sticking out her front leg right now, only with the added bonus of some very unladylike snarling. Kiss. Her. Hand.]

[Britt's rather rude remark is interrupted when something pushes him forward. Looking down there's his Nidoran behind him, trying to buckle his legs in Martini's direction. He means business, Britt]

Come on, not you too! Why the hell am I being bossed around by two Pokemon and also this guy?

[Looks like one of his own Pokemon wants him to do it too. Get to the kissing already, Britt]

[He grabs the leg, but also is hesitating because wow he feels so weird having to do this. This is coercion]

[Look at that! Reinforcements! Dandy really didn't expect anyone to actually kiss his dog's feet, but he supposes that's just the magic of Pokemon.

Martini's snarly face suddenly turns into one of pure delight as her leg gets grabbed, and she makes sure Britt doesn't back out last second by shoving her paw right up in his lips. He doesn't even have to go through the motions at this point, face touched her foot and that's all she needs to have someone win her favor. He passes the test, Britt's allowed to be socialized with.]

Damn, I didn't realize you were such a hit with the ladies.

[Dandy's trying so hard not to laugh, but he absolutely has no right to say anything. He probably kissed her feet like twice now. ...She's his dog, though, so that's totally normal.

Once Martini can get her hand free, she's going to run around Britt and try to get to his nidoran instead. Although she can't tackle and bite like she'd really want to, Pokemon are still much more fun to play with.]

The Nidoran -- Brutus -- welcomes the Deino with a rather friendly wave. Thanks so much for messing with his trainer. After nuzzling Britt's ankle with real affection, he runs to Martini, more than willing to tackle and bite]

[Jinx found herself returning to the various food establishments on the ship perhaps out of habit. Diana always wanted to get her snack on and even if Diana wasn't here Jinx kept circling back to places she would be.

As she helps herself to some desserts from the buffet she's oblivious to the adorable puppy dog eyes of Ass Rat.

Thankfully Jinx's Purrloin Carmen happens to be with her holding an ice cream cone between her paws and balancing on her hind legs.]

What's the matter fluffy? Ditch your trainer somewhere?

[Ass Rat's fur bristles in surprise when she's addressed, despite purposely trying to get attention. It's like she wasn't expecting it to work or to be noticed at all...somehow.

She instantly calms down when she realizes she's not in any trouble though, but it lasts all of two seconds before she suddenly finds herself on the defense.]

Eh?! Of course not-- I wouldn't-- [Sputtering intensifies. She totally got permission, she swears!! Does she really look like the kind of Pokemon who would do something so terrible?! ...She does, doesn't she?! That's it, her life is over. Unable to come up with any explanation right there on the spot, she can only stand there defeated, ears drooping as she looks down at her feet.] I just wanted to eat...

[Her front foot kicks at the floor a little.]

[Carmen rolls her eyes and chuckles licking from her ice cream cone.]

You're somewhere between adorable and pathetic right now. You realize this party is for us right? So these humans? They work for us! And if you want something you just need to get them to do it for you.

How do you usually get your human to do what you want?

[Ice cream sounds so good right about now... Ass Rat looks at the snack more than she looks at the purrloin, at least until she snaps back into reality after hearing Carmen suggest she boss humans around.]

I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. [There's a whole lot of doubt on her face. She's spent too much time being chased away by humans to know they aren't good with suggestions, let alone commands. Maybe it's easier for the cuter Pokemon, who knows...] My trainer kinda does his own thing, anyway...

[She can't begin to imagine telling someone like Dandy what to do. He barely listens to other humans...]

[The Purrloin takes a long luxurious lick off her ice cream and turns around to stare intently at the server until one of them notices her and she lets out a happy cry.]

[The server beams and puts some pokepuffs on a plat setting it down on the floor for Carmen who meows apprecitively and sets her ice cream down on top of the puffs so she can push the plate away.]

See? It's so easy even you can do it.

[ Annie, also standing there in a deep blue gown that's been all she's had not get lost in clothing related luggage accidents since getting on board this cruise, holds Martini's paw and lifts her eyesbrows to stare at Dandy when he speaks up.

Then she looks at Martini, and smiles with all her teeth showing. ]

Please. I'd be impressed if she could.

[ All conversational, considering Annie... does not have any to bite off, but also seems about as concerned over threatened violence as some people are at hearing it'd be partly cloudy weather today. ]

[If Martini could see that smile, she'd probably find it super entertaining and play along by showing some teeth herself. Instead, she just wiggles her paw a little, still insisting that she kiss it. It's the most important part!

Dandy's attitude changes completely when he turns around and sees who has his dog's hand this time around. He was mostly just saying that crap to bother other guys, he didn't think a chick would stop by and humor his pet.

Neat.]

Well, obviously I didn't mean you. Besides, she only bites people who really deserve it.

[ She's fairly sure she should rate as deserving on a bite scale. Only seems sensible of the dimensions, which of course means it also shouldn't be true. (Sensibility is overrated.)

She's not going to kiss anyone's foot, dainty or otherwise, unless they've just come out of a bath. Her unadmitted fondness for Dark-types due to her own Absol, Lute, has Annie kissing the fingers of her unoccupied hand, then pressing them to the top of Martini's paw: that's the best she's getting. ]

[ No lady, sorry. Please feel free to go for a bite, Martini, though Annie's probably going to try to avoid being bitten. ]

[Eh, she'll take it. It's still more than what other people have attempted. ...Or haven't attempted. Still, she can't help but huff and turn a head away when she's just Martini.

...The smile on her face makes it pretty obvious it's all just pretend, though.]

I'll have you know we both have the same set of standards~ [It's like he doesn't even know what he's talking about, he makes it sound like he has his own standards when it comes to...biting people?] She must really like you if she hasn't chomped your face off yet.

[ Annie lets go of Martini's paw, standing in a smooth motion. If she can get away with it, she'll lightly pat Martini's head in the process, the kind of tactile contact Lute's gotten her used to over the last half year. In some ways, pokemon teach their trainers as much as trainers teach their pokemon. ]

Oh? I'm glad we can all agree to having standards for who we're willing to bite.

[ It's a dry statement, because she thinks of it on a far larger scale, where... well, Titans biting people goes poorly for good reason, and the last time she'd been engaged in such was to try and kidnap someone, so.

Standards are great. Especially when she doubts that's what he's intended to say, if he's meaning to be flattering at all.

Addressed to Martini, straight-faced: ]

Thank you for taking pity on this poor young woman and leaving my face intact. I also like you enough to not want to gnaw your face off.

[ Quirking an eyebrow, she looks up at Dandy, because the days she's not the shortest person in a room usually involves kids or notably short teenagers. ]

Not that I spend time biting people I don't like, but to each their own.

[Despite her size and overall pinkness, keeping track of Rose on the dance floor isn't the easiest thing to do. She loves to dance. She danced back on Earth whenever she had opportunity, usually with or for Greg. But she's never been to a dance party like this.]

[It's nothing like the ones on Homeworld.]

[When she catches sight of Dandy, she remembers that they're here as dates. She really ought to be more attentive, it's just that there's so much and so many people want to dance with her! But she rushes over with a wide grin on her face, zooming in and scooping Dandy up in her arms to swing him around in joy.]

This is the best party ever!

[Dandy's just minding his own business, sipping a drink, trying to get people to kiss his dog, AND THEN SUDDENLY his feet are no longer touching the ground. The world spins as he slowly pieces together that someone just picked up his stupid ass, and Dandy can only lie in her grasp like the world's most confused rag doll.

Oh good, he found Rose.]

Holy shit-- I mean, yeah, you ain't wrong.

[That's not a lie, the cruise has been so kind to him. The dance alone has been a blast.]
