Hey everybody!

I'm gonna be heading up to Mahogany for a little bit, and I was thinking, since I'll be there...

Mount Mortar! Is it worth it to really delve into it? I've never actually seriously gone into it before and explored it all the way through. I'm not looking for any specific types or anything, but I know there's some rare fire kinds that you can sometimes find so obviously I'll be keeping my eyes out....

But I'm mostly asking if it's worth it from a recreational cave diving perspective.

[Korra apparently didn't get enough excitement at prom.]

Mt. Mortar is a wonderful cave to explore is you are prepared for it and well-equipped. However, if you find yourself there by accident, without supplies or Pokémon, it is absolutely hellish.

[But very exciting, is a stressful way.]

It was a step up from waking up in the middle of the Ice Path after one of those busy weekends, but barely so.

Weird weekend only. The Ice Path was a particularly popular 'destination', especially the first few years... as were many places beyond the Sudowoodo that was blocking the path to Ecruteak at the time.

I had to battle my way back from Mt. Mortar to celadon with a single Chimchar who agreed to accompany me until I could find a pokéball. It's not an experience I recommend. Being forced to move on to Ecruteak until my friend could fetch me was less of a pain.

I do not have a Chimchar anymore, but I do train a strong and wonderful Infernape, these days.

[Excuse him, he thinks he's funny.]

He was past the usual level for his first evolution, I was lost and without either Pokémon or supplies. An alliance was advantageous to us both, and we soon learned to cooperate. But it still took us about three weeks to return, first to Goldenrod, then to Saffron and Celadon by train, by which time he'd managed to reach his last evolutionary stage.

Of course we do. After such a first meeting, there was no doubt we'd understand each other perfectly, both during and outside of battles.
