[There's a pale, black-haired young woman on the network today, inspecting her new 'Gear. She has a little Noibat chilling in her mass of hair like an adorable bat-shaped barrette. She studies the Pokegear seriously for a moment or two before noticing something else:]

Oh snap, and it broadcasts! Sweet!

Hey! Barkeep guy! You were right, that Mom lady was really weird! She gave me a lot of snacks, though, so that's cool.

But, uh, I kind of. Already ate them all? Look, I got carried away, okay? Does anyone know if there's anything else to eat on, what is it, Route 29? Besides the berries, I mean. My girl here - [she gestures to her new Noibat pal] - really digs them buuuuuut I still think they seem kinda suspect. For me to eat, that is. Thanks, peeps!

Well, not together--I have yet to encounter any sort of fungal-based spectral activity in my home dimension, but there are a species of Pokémon that almost act as will-o'-wisp, leading travelers astray and draining them of their life force.

[He says all of this with a perfectly straight face.]

I apply this knowledge practically, of course. My partners and I were the first to perfect capturing and containing a ghost indefinitely in a confined capsule.

[She wants to ask about the will-o'-wisp 'mons, because that sounds seriously cool, but indefinite ghost trapping sounds seriously uncool.]

...Wait, what? Why?

[Egon blinks. What does she mean, why? Obviously, it's because--]

Most of the spirits and spectres that inhabit my native dimension are fundamentally malicious, or otherwise prove to be a danger to humans living around them. Thus, my partners and I work to trap them and further study them for research purposes. More dangerous entities need to be contained for both the sake of other ghosts and the living.

[A pause.] The device we use is not unlike a PokéBall, I suppose.

Oh. Yeah, okay, that makes sense. Some ghosts can be real jerks.

[Weird, for some reason she was expecting this guy to be way more dull than he is? Could previous reports of his overwhelming nerdery have been greatly exaggerated??

What kinds of stuff did you learn from them?

...Well, we've learned that most ghosts--at least, those that are human in origin--tend to have some sort of "unfinished business" in the living world or have suffered a violent, or otherwise emotionally tumultuous death, as previously theorized by fiction writers.

We've also learned that people general don't like ghosts in their business, for a lack of a better term.

[He peers at the screen.]

Do you have ghosts or otherwise supernatural entities in your dimension?

Oh, yeah, ghosts, ghouls, mummies, zombies, demons...well, the demons mostly stay in the Nightosphere, and the zombies and mummies generally stay in their various coffins and sarcophagi, but most ghosts are pretty chill to hang. Ghouls can be kinda touchy.
