6. Video | Fuchsia City

[Hey pokemon world, there's a cardboard sign in front of the camera. It reads, Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained. You can also hear a lot of kids in the background. And the sign goes away to show...yup it's Dipper. He's standing inside what looks like a kids restaurant.]

Welcome to the first pokemon world edition of Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained. We're on, Anomaly number 13 "The Pizza Parlor." Now I know what you're thinking. Dipper, this is totally just a normal place, where kids come and play games, eat pizza and learn to fear animatronics, right?

[The Camera shows scenes of all three of these things, ending with a creepy looking animatronic Mienshao. It is dressed like a ninja and very purple. The camera goes back to Dipper and you can see the group of animatronic ninja pokemon in the background.]

Wrong! This is no ordinary pizza place. I found it on a map that I got at the end of the last summer for doing the scavenger hunt. So there's definitely something different about this place. Plus I've been hearing some rumours since I got here about strange things happenin-

[Whatever pokemon is holding the camera seems to make a noise and Dipper glances behind him. Have those animatronics moved? Probably not. He looks back.]

So we're going to investigate the place and see what we can find out!

[And we go to Dipper investigating the place, talking to people. And probably something you at home might note is that the animatronic Mienshao Ninja, now seems to be orange. And around. Like a lot. Like Dipper is starting to notice. He glances over at the camera as another person almost runs off, claiming that nothing is wrong here he just really needs to leave NOW. Totally nothing to do with animatronics! Also don't work the night shift here!]

Okay so there's something....huh, we might be getting lost, Moon. I think we've passed this one a few times.

[Dipper scratches his head and then turns around.]

Well so far there's the usual, the animatronics are creepy but that seems to be it. ...Maybe Nephelis just really liked pizza and-

[And as the camera looks away there's a zapping noise and a scream and then the camera drops to the ground. The gear is dropped and there's a sound of a fight before Dipper manages to grab the gear back up. He looks slightly singed. There's also very angry Gothitelle who had been holding the camera till now. And may have just attacked something.]

I knew it! It's....

[The camera is now pointed at a beat up, now purple again Mienshao ninja animatronic. With a smug looking Rotom floating above it.]

Really!? Well I guess that explains the weird rumours, since I got here! Faraday, really? This was-

[There's suddenly a voice in the background. Apparently someone heard the fight]

"Hey, what happened to Ninja Nickie! She's all beat up!"

Uh...and that concludes Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained. Tune in next time and maybe we won't be filming this from a jail cell... Run!

[Dipper will pull the Rotom in the pokeball and make a break for it with his other pokemon. So much for the first episode.]

[Oh...oh dear. Carly goes a bit quiet, rubbing the back of her neck.] I...I didn't...

...I shouldn't have said so much, I'm so...so sorry, [she rambles, swallowing.]

[He rubs the back of his head.]

[Totally. He's not going to try and build a portal. Or get lost in the woods. ....his bars are low okay.]

Nmmmh, only child over here...it's pretty common where I'm from, if I'm honest. I...

It's ah, it's an area of Tokyo, in Japan. [It is Also in the Future. But not that far in the future, weirdly.]

There are people from all sorts of places here.

[He should know, he has a growing list.]

I'm from Piedmont, California in the United States. But I was still in Gravity Falls, Oregon when I got pulled here.

Oooh, America~!

...I've heard...a little about California? ...Not much about Oregon, is it any nice there..?

The place we were staying was nice. It was a small town, kind of isolated but good people and a lot of paranormal phenomena in the area."

That apparently is just normal to him.

"We were there visiting our Grunkle Stan for the summer. I think our parents wanted us to go outside more or something....I mean it worked. There's a huge forest around the town I spent a lot of time in."

"Hooo...countryside..." Carly suspects Nothing. "Yeah I guess that would do it, at least if there was nothing much to do inside...apparently there's good spots like that outside of town back home, but I guess I won't know now huh..."

"Yeah plus there wasn't much going on in town. Even the Mystery Shack, Stan runs and we were living at was out in the woods as well."

Totally why they were infested with gnomes.

"Also inside, Stan just tried to get us to work in the Shack all the time."

"Ohhh? Mystery Shack? ...What's a Mystery Shack? Is it like an Escape Room?"

Definitely Not, but it probably could be.

"...sounds like how working with relatives goes though yeah..." Not that she got to experience it, but she knows enough people!

"Escape? No, it's a tourist trap that sells stuff to gullible people and has fake exhibits about paranormal creatures that don't actually exist. It's a neat place but I don't know how so many tourists keep falling for all the fake stuff."

I mean Stan is really good at scamming people so that helps.

"Hnnnn... ...The concept is definitely familiar, but the name sure isn't." Weird.

Oh, but- "Oh- Escape rooms are like...Puzzle rooms! The goal is to solve all the puzzles to 'escape' by a certain time! They have all kinds of themes too. Like horror movies, or superhero things, or sci-fi...they all have a story, like, you're stuck in a madman's basement, and now you've got to get out! ...They seem kinda fun, but I never got to try one..."

"That makes sense. I mean, it's a really local thing that my Grunkle set up and we usually just get people from town or the tourists that pass through."

And always fall for the stuff.

"Wait...really? That sounds amazing. I've never heard of those. I wonder if this place has any of them. I totally want to try one now."

"Right? I think they're more fun in groups...I hear you CAN do it alone, but something like that you've gotta do with friends right?"

A pause, and then-

"...I mean...if there isn't, we'd be the first to think about it then huh..."

~~Carly no you don't have the funds to be an entrepreneur~~

"I bet Armin would want to try one."

He has a few friends here he could probably drag into this. If there are ones.

And if there aren't...

"If they don't exist here....and you know a lot about them, and I know a lot about puzzles and stories. I bet we could make a simple one."

"Armin..? ...Oh, I think he's one of the people who told me about the fish here..." He Is.

But hey. "...Ah-! Y...You know...I think maybe you're right?? ...I dunno where I'd get the money to build it or anything, I mean...I guess if I beat enough gyms maybe..."

"I bet, Armin knows almost everything about water pokemon. And he's great with puzzles and codes."

They are nerd friends. Also Dipper is thinking this over.

"It is a good source of money here....Plus there's at least one pokemon that just makes money. If we beat gyms we could probably put together something."

"Oh- I have one of those~ Meowth! I should take her out for more walks come to think..."

But hey, she can ponder that issue later.

"Mhhhnn....it'll take a bit...I don't even think I can fight the first one right now but..." But... "...But it's worth trying then..!"

"Yeah, that's the one. They have a move that just makes money. Somehow. Possibly magic, or maybe it steals it from one location and it appears there. I don't have one myself."

Otherwise he'd study it.

"If you're new, the gyms would be pretty hard. I haven't really tried any myself, maybe I should though."

"Oh yeah? Maybe you'll find one..." Or maybe Carly is in for a surprise when she goes back to check on her lovely breed compatible dorm 'mons.

Ah.

Aha. "Ahh...I'm...slightly less new?"
