It's prom time, baby

This year, transport arranged by Riegfried and Soy will deliver everyone to the Sevii Islands -- a short trip for some, a longer journey for others. Either way, at around eleven AM, everyone who was interested in joining will have been gathered at a cheery cafe, fully reserved for the event so people have somewhere to sit and wait while the rest arrive. All bags will be taken by the couple's employees immediately upon arrival, with the promise that Trainers will find them waiting for them on the ship.

At eleven, Soy checks a pocket watch, then he addresses the crowd.

"Welcome all! Riegfried and I are so happy to see so many of you here. It heartens us greatly to see you trust us again with the hosting of this event. Please be assured that everything in our power has been done to prevent a repeat of last year's catastrophe, and we've worked closely with the League to ensure that everyone involved in this project is trustworthy. Now, if you'll follow me."

It's just a short trek from the bright little cafe to the ship's mooring. Or such is what all will be told as they walk. Riegfried and Soy lead the possession, coming to a momentary halt as the gathered Trainers crest a small dune. There, they both sweep off their top hats, giving deep and theatrical bows as they gesture towards a small, private bay where not one, not even two, but three airships lay moored along a pier, waiting for everyone to board.

"Welcome to Prom."

THE ITINERARY

Inside their rooms, every visitor will find a short itinerary for this prom trip. There is also a small map, which shows the route they will fly to get to the mentioned island. Of course, considering the route is entirely over water, it is not the most useful thing. There is also a second, more useful map, of each of the three ships and where the various amenities can be found.

Friday, 12PM - Lift off
Saturday, 3PM - Island arrival
Sunday, 8PM - Prom
Monday, 5PM - Scheduled return

Breakfast hours - 7:30AM - 9AM
Lunch hours - 12AM - 2PM
Dinner hours - 6:30PM - 8PM

Small meals and drinks can be requested between these hours!

THE FLEET

Tyrantic

The largest of the three ships, the Tyrantic will be the entertainment centre and hub during this trip.

Of the three ships, it’s the only one with a top deck where characters will be able to take in the spectacular view and bask in the sunlight as we travel. Standing at the prow, you’ll really feel on top of the world, watching the ocean pass beneath you! Do mind the railings, please! We wouldn’t want anyone to fall off.

Inside, Riegfried and Soy have tried to provide as many amenities as possible within the limited space, including:

A small library – For anyone looking for some peace and quiet, this is the place to go. A few large windows let in plenty of natural light, and the shelves are stocked to the brim with various adventure and exploration novels. Leather armchairs are scattered around the room, giving readers a comfortable place to curl up. And when night falls, a variety of lamps bathe the room in a soft, yellow light, mimicking that produced by candles or oil lamps.

A bar – Yes, for anyone old enough to drink (and the attendants will be checking!) Riegfried and Soy have provided a small bar with complimentary drinks. Take a seat at one of the small tables, or perch on one of the leather barstools and allow yourself to be poured a scotch. Perhaps you can share a story or two with the other adults hanging out here.

A casino – Care to place a little wager? Or sit down for a hand of poker? Perhaps even test your luck at the Wheel?

It seems Riegfried and Soy drew some inspiration from the Goldenrod City Game Corner, and have provided everybody with a chance to place some bets. Please note that betting in the casino does cost actual pokebucks, but the House is also rich and generous, so your odds are pretty good. And the attendants will make sure to herd you out before you can lose all your hard-earned cash.

Every prom attendant also gets one (1!) complimentary spin on the Wheel for a chance to win incredible prizes. Make sure to claim yours!

A ballroom – Naturally, no prom can be complete without one of these.
The ballroom takes up the entire aft portion of the ship. The room itself is towering, easily spanning two decks. Two staircases lead to a balcony section over part of the dance floor where those who would like to sit down can find some tables and chairs available to them.

The curved back wall of the ship is nearly entirely comprised of large windows that prevent the room from feeling cramped. Unlike previous years, there is no balcony portion available, though if your characters would like a bit of fresh air, they can always climb up to the top deck.

Mary Celebi

The Mary Celebi likely won’t be where your characters spend most of their time, but it is rather important as this ship houses everyone’s sleeping quarters. Due to the limited space abroad the ship, there are only two types of rooms available: single rooms, clearly meant for, well, a single occupant, and rooms with a double bed, meant for two.

The bathrooms are somewhat small but contain all the essentials (shower, toilet, sink, and some storage). Every double room will have its own bathroom, and every two singles will share one bathroom between them.

Oranguru Medan

The smallest of the three ships is the Oranguru Medan, and even then, only half of it will actually be accessible to characters. In the accessible part of the ship, you can find a large dining room where characters can take their meals, as well as a small infirmary for anyone who might find themselves in need of some Drampamine to combat air-sickness. In addition to caring for human needs, the infirmary also has a small set-up for healing Pokemon and a PC where characters can switch their party if the need arises.

But why would the need arise, certainly nothing ever goes wrong during Prom!

The rest of the ship houses things like the kitchens and storage areas. Characters will be kindly but firmly shooed away from these. Please, the cooks are working very hard and don’t need anyone getting in the way. And the hold has nothing more exciting than potatoes. You do NOT need to check the kitchen trash cans for items.

Each ship will also contain a warp pad room, allowing people to warp between the different ships. Why, were you expecting zip lines? A tight rope walk? Please.

THE ISLAND

As mentioned on the travel itinerary, early in the afternoon, characters who are hanging out on the deck of the Tyrantic will start seeing a small speck in the distance -- a small speck that grows and grows until it becomes a rather cute looking island.

The island is not particularly big, and from what can be gleaned, there are no houses or other structures on it. Instead, the island retains all its natural splendour, with plenty of greenery and an inviting beach. It's the perfect location to moor down at (the ships will remain in the air, but a plank will be let down so people can depart, and for everybody to stretch their legs. There is only so much space on these ships, after all!

While the ocean waters are probably still a bit too cold to go swimming, the beach gives a nice opportunity to go for a stroll and perhaps collect a few seashells. The meadow and forests are perfect for people who'd love to go on a bit of a hike, and if you are the kind of person who is always on the look-out for a new friend to add to your roster, why not go and see if you can find one of the island pokemon?

Available Pokemon

Beach/Ocean
Krabby, Clauncher, Wishiwashi, Pyukumuku, Mantine, Barboach, Bruxish, Finneon, Corsola, Cramorant

Meadow
Bellossom, Petilil, Cherubi, Butterfree, Oricorio (all styles), Cutiefly, Kecleon, Tropius

Forest
Aipom, Spinarak, Pikipek, Trumbeak, Nincada, Chatot

The level range for these pokemon is lvl 5 - lvl 25

THE DANCE

Despite the shenanigans Saturday evening, on Sunday evening, Prom will commence as planned. Of course, Riegfried and Soy understand if you aren't in much of a dancing mood after having dealt with three rather unfriendly birds, but on the other hand, isn't successfully handling three legendary pokemon worthy of a small celebration? You've met a challenge that few will ever meet in their lives and you have bested it! Surely that deserves some exuberance.

Also, the band was already paid for anyway.

So, for all those who are still interested in dancing and merriment, the big doors of the ball room will open on Sunday evening, admitting all within.

For an airship, the room is relatively large, ornate and almost toweringly high. The ground floor is obviously set up for dancing, though there is also a small podium. Twisting staircases allow access to a balcony section about the dance floor where people can take a break, sit down at one of the many tables, and even get some refreshments from the banquet table.

However, it's not the dancefloor or the fancy balcony that will be the star of this evening. About half an hour after prom has formally started, there is an actual live band climbing onto the stage. With painted faces and elaborate costumes Steam Powered Girafarig is here to provide your entertainment for the night.

(And then quickly re-negotiate their contract, because nobody told them they'd be dealing with angry poke-gods here)

However, that's not the final surprise Riegfried and Soy have in store for their guests. Once Steam Powered Girafarig completes their set, and the hour slowly starts crawling towards midnight, they invite everybody to the upper deck of the ship to witness a spectacular display of Fireworks, painting the dark sky with a wash of colour.

Pre-Prom! OTA

i. Departure/Top deck of the Tyrantic (obligatory Titanic comparison)
["Tyrantic", "Mary Celebi", and "Oranguru Medan"... All very interesting names, especially one of them, which was much too similar in name to one of the biggest tragedies at sea a century prior.

Oh dear. If this Tyrantic was going to be anything like the Titanic, Tooru is very grateful that he's got Aoi, his Corviknight, on his team for him and Iwaizumi to fly on. Just in case.

Though he hopes the need for that doesn't happen.]

Tyrantic, huh? The name sounds too much like the Titanic, which ended in tragedy at sea a century ago where I'm from... I sure hope this isn't this world's version of it!
ii. Library
[While exploring the Tyrantic was fun enough, having gone to every place he possibly could go, even checking out the Mary Celebi and Oranguru Medan, Tooru finds himself back in the library with a book about a daring adventurer who took to the sea in hopes of finding riches. It's not a bad book, but the atmosphere of the library and his Mimikyu, Yūrei, in his lap, the whole thing seemed that much better and more comfortable.

Eventually, he sets the book down to let Yūrei wander about, keeping his eye on her, and shushing her if she gets too loud. It is a library after all.]
iii. Island
[Tooru has managed to add an Oricorio to his team after she cheered on Yūrei earlier when they'd run into Sandalphon. She hadn't battled Yūrei, but the yellow bird had befriended the ghost and eagerly had joined Tooru to stay with her new friend.

Though that doesn't stop her from getting groups of her own kind, or Chatot, together and chirping loudly to orchestrate some form of dance. And song? Though it sounds more like a chaotic mess of bird noises instead. Charming in its own way, in Tooru's opinion.]

Kanpai, don't you think you're being a little silly?

[Chirp chirp! And dancing around with the other Oricorio is the response, with chattering noises and repeated "silly!" from the Chatot.]
Wildcard
[(OOC: What it says on the tin! He'll be around and all over prior to the main dance. He'll primarily be wearing this outfit around and saving the flashy steampunk look for the main event. When he's got the jacket off, he's got fresh scars on his left arm and shoulder thanks to the Alpha Hisuian Braviary a few weeks back that swarmed.)]

Holy crap, dude! That's your opener when we're already underway?

[ Kirishima comes to lean beside Oikawa against the railing of the aforementioned ship, his back to the view over the side. Instead he folds his arms and considers the other male dubiously, one red brow cocked. He's dressed in a pair of red-orange board shorts, krooks, and a tank-top that proclaims "Suns Out, Guns Out". They sure are. The look completes itself by way of a pair of white sunglasses tucked above the brow into a spiked mane of cherry red hair that fades into a black undercut.

A tentative grin ticks the edge of his lips, albeit a little awkwardly. ]

I brought a Noivern you'd get along with, tryin' to spook people like that. Are you Best Setter?

[ They may have exchanged actual names - at least Kirishima gave his - but come on, a username is more fun, right? Unless this isn't the guy he agreed to meet up with, in which case he's going to have some explaining to do. ]

OOZES IN LATE... sorry x.x irl was bleh

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-04-17 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt there's too many people who even know what the Titanic even was, besides it's probably just a coincidence with all the puns going on around here.

[Yeah. He's picked up on the weird puns. Though he stifles a laugh at what the redhead is wearing once he looks over, nodding, and arching an eyebrow at the mention of the Noivern.

Now he's curious, he hasn't seen one of those yet.]

Yep, that's me. You must be Kirishima then. What's this Noivern of yours like?
machismost: (Default)

same tbh it's all good

[personal profile] machismost 2022-04-21 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! She takes every opportunity to scare people ever since she was a baby bat.

[ Kirishima gestures with his hands, making like he's grasping some invisible orb between his palms and shrinking it down before him. The next obvious maneuver might be to put this 'scary' ball in his hands away, but he doesn't. Instead, Kirishima unhooks a ball at his belt and lets it tumble away on the deck. ]

I'm Kirishima! And I'm hoping the balls you brought me-- opp!

[ Light spews like an aside as it hits the deck, off to the side. It seems to cometo nothing for now. Kirishima moves to try and pick it up and shut it again like some sort of haphazard spill. ]

Thanks, dude, for pickin' those balls up for me. I was sure after Kurt made his recent announcement his balls would be in high demand for a while. Dude is the only one who really specializes in Pokeballs like that around here. When did you get here?
grandtrashking: (Seijoh-036)

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-04-22 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Okay that sounds hilariously cute, and he has the feeling Shiro, his Hisuian Zoroark, would enjoy doing just the same. Maybe even his Liepard, Kuroo, too. Chaos duo, those two. But before he can say anything, there's that flash of light and him arching a brow at the redhead before shrugging with a nod.]

'S no problem, I was in the area. I got myself a Rowlet in one of the ones I got for myself, actually. I've got 'em for you in my bag on the Mary Celebi in my room if you wanna go get them now? I don't mind heading back, I'm starting to get a little hungry too.

Here? As in this world or around Goldenrod? If you mean this world, since a few days before the Snorunt showed up. I've been in Goldenrod since the 2nd.

[personal profile] machismost 2022-04-23 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[ To Kirishima's credit, he really does think the Pokeball just fell off of his belt and is going about meeting this new guy who's been kind enough to buy him these specialized things. He didn't see the aside of light even if a part of him does have a niggling feeling when he has to shut the ball before shrinking and replacing it on his belt. Honestly, he should know better, but he's distracted. ]

Aw man, so like real in the heart of winter! That had to be really tough going outta New Bark Town. But you made some great time. I mean after Cherrygrove and Azalea, Goldenrod's the place to be. I'm kinda only saying Azalea because of the Slowpokes. They were great to hang out with after traveling for a while, but I came in myself in--

[ Welp, excuse her, boys, but there's the sudden and forceful face of a Noivern over the side of the ship, ears quivering with a shriek like someone accosted with a knife in a shower. Even Kirishima jumps and it's his own damn Pokemon. ]

Pretty much, yeah. But back home it was the same time of year. The date was really close too, only a couple of days off. Weird.

Oh yeah? Got any rec--

[Not much else is said back before that sudden shriek, which makes Tooru jump about a good foot, maybe foot and a half, in the air. He was not expecting an ambush from a Pokémon, not when they're several hundreds of feet in the air.

He doesn't purposely send any Pokémon out but his Corviknight has other plans by just jumping out anyway, cawing just as loudly at the Noivern. Nearly toppling his trainer over in the process.]

What the HELL?!
freckledarcher: (smiling ashe)

ii. Library

[personal profile] freckledarcher 2022-04-18 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Ashe walked by to return one book he finished to grab another one when his Piplup stopped at the Mimikyu in front of him. He looked over when Piplup chirped in greeting and placed his finger over his lips.]

Not too loud Ky, we're in a library. [Ashe whispered when he saw Mimikyu next to Piplup. He gave a smile as he waved. It looked like the Mimikyu was having a lot of fun in the library too.]
grandtrashking: (Seijoh-056)

The good boy!!

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-04-18 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
[The Mimikyu is just minding her business, but when she sees the Piplup close to her, making some kind of happy noise at another small Pokémon around her size. Even making "play with me" movements. As much as a critter with a disguise over her body could.

Tooru, on the other hand, notices both the blue bird and his trainer, and decides to get up. Half to make sure his Mimikyu wasn't about to unleash (or suggest unleashing) chaos, half to make conversation.]

I'd be careful there little bird, Yūrei-chan can be a little bit of a mischief maker.

She's not causing any troubles herself, is she?
freckledarcher: (i'm so happy)

He!!

[personal profile] freckledarcher 2022-04-23 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Piplup looked up at Oikawa then back at the Mimikyu with another happy chirp in response. Another pokemon ready to make some mischief sounded good to him. Ashe shook his head with a laugh.]

I think he's even more interested in her now. [Ashe shook his head as he adjusted the book in his arm.] No, she's been good. I was on my way to return this book. Is there one I should check out?
grandtrashking: (Seijoh-093)

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-04-29 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[His Mimikyu makes shuffling motions to the Piplup, chittering away happily and making strange motions about who knows what, but Tooru can tell it's mischief. It's Fine. He hopes. Not like a small blue bird and... Whatever Mimikyu is can burn down an entire ship, right?

But the attention turns back to Ashe, looking down at the book in his own hands.]

Oh good, but looks like Yūrei-chan is plotting something. But for a good book? This one, I just finished it. It's about an adventurer who took to the sea in hopes of finding riches. I won't say whether he does or not, spoilers are rude!
freckledarcher: (happy ashe)

[personal profile] freckledarcher 2022-05-06 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Piplup happily chirped as he waved his flippers in response. He can get behind causing some mischief and he's a water pokemon so he could put out any fires if he needed to. Ashe looked over at the way Ky happily chirped with a fond smile. He was always happy to see when Piplup made friends, though he hoped they wouldn't cause too much trouble.

Same with Ky, but I'll pull him back before he does anything. [Ashe's eyes lit up when he looked at the book.] Really? Thanks! I can't wait to read this one. The one I finished is pretty good too. This one is about an adventurer that gathers a group on his way to looking for something good! Um, you can read this one if you want?
grandtrashking: (Seijoh-042)

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-05-24 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Likewise, if they can behave then I don't see why they can't have fun either.

[There's ominous... Cackles? Crackles? Chitter? Something mischief oriented coming from the Mimikyu as she waves her disguise's tail around in ways only Pokémon can understand for being gremlins. At least there's two trainers to keep eyes on them.]

Oh yeah? Sounds like a good one! They've got some pretty good books in this library here.

[A brief pause before holding out a hand in greetings.]

Oikawa, Tooru. A pleasure.

[Grant is definitely fretting a bit, looking around to make sure he's still keeping track of where the rest of his group is. He glances over, however, at that comment, and gives a weak laugh.]

Same in mine, actually... I've been tryin' not to think about it too much, admittedly, but... fingers crossed, man.
grandtrashking: (Seijoh-017)

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-04-22 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Strange that there would be so many similar names, I wonder if this place is related to Earth somehow. Sure seems like it with all the names of things sounding like things back home!

[There's a nervous chuckle with a nod.]

Luckily one of my birds knows Fly, so if anything did happen, I could get myself and my best friend out safely.
woofdad: the entire history of magic (let me explain to you)

[personal profile] woofdad 2022-04-25 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's pretty odd - though it sounds like there are people from a few different versions of Earth here, too, so it kinda makes me wonder... if we think of the different Earths as "related" worlds, then maybe this place itself is just another step removed from those, while still being closely connected...?

[Wait, right. The nature of the multiverse is not what they're talking about here. He gives a quick shake of his head, and a slightly sheepish laugh.] --Sorry, that was... only barely related. But, that sounds like a good call - and, same here. I think a lot of the people I'm here with brought Pokemon with Fly, just... in case.
grandtrashking: (Seijoh-025)

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-04-29 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Y'know, maybe you're right. Not that I understand any of that sci-fi multiverse theory stuff, but if there's people who are all from different Earths like that, who knows? MAYBE!

[But being just a high school senior without any proper higher education in science, it's like getting him to learn a fourth language on top of the one he's fluent in and the two he's studying. Probably could, but that's a headache and a half at Best.

Tooru laughs it off, shrugging at the apology.]

's fine, don't worry about it. Do weird things usually happen with these events?

[that "just in case" has him just a bit concerned.]
woofdad: (but that's none of my business)

[personal profile] woofdad 2022-05-04 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yyyeah that's pretty fair, honestly. Grant pretty much never expects people to engage when he gets distracted rambling about stuff like that, SO. UNDERSTANDABLE.]

Ah... yeah, Prom has... a bit of a reputation. This is only my second one, but the first I went to went, uh... badly. And apparently that's something of a pattern.

[So. Yes, he is pretty worried about the whole airship thing.]
grandtrashking: (Seijoh-017)

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-05-04 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[If only he had more knowledge on the subject, it was an interesting one.]

A... Reputation? How badly did this last one go?

[THIS IS CONCERNING, WHAT HAS HE GOTTEN HIMSELF INTO!! But showing, or even actually panicking isn't the best course of action. Instead, Tooru chooses to just criticise their hosts.]

So... I'm getting the feeling our hosts are either ill-prepared, careless, or just have terrible luck with these events. But I suppose if you get a large number of people together, something may happen regardless.
woofdad: (but that's none of my business)

[personal profile] woofdad 2022-05-07 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Last one... [Grant presses his lips together as he tries to think on... how to put this.] Uh, Team Rocket got a bunch of people possessed with Yamask masks. And then they used the chaos to rob Riegfriend and Soy's mansion, where the whole thing was being held.

...Funnily enough, they're actually the first hosts to take it on for a second time. Apparently most people run it once, it goes wrong, and... they don't try again.
grandtrashking: (Seijoh-047)

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-05-20 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well THAT is interesting information!!]

I haven't run into these Rockets yet, but you're telling me they used Pokémon to... possess people?

And that our hosts decided to run this again a second year in a row, knowing some chaos could possibly happen?

[Rich people... Too much money and not enough brains, seems to hold true no matter where one went. Nevermind he came from some money himself, but nowhere near that level, and had sense enough not to be Like That.]
woofdad: i'll be alive then (i'm dead come back tomorrow)

[personal profile] woofdad 2022-05-29 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's, uh... it seems to be an organized crime syndicate? Aaand... they did. Combination Ghost Pokemon and... I guess some masks they'd tampered with ahead of time?

[He sighs, running a hand through his hair.] Mm-hm. I guess they think getting away from civilization will make it, uh... safer, but the Rockets must have infiltrated ahead of time for things to happen the way they did last time, so... I'm not sure how much I'm expecting it to help if they try again.
grandtrashking: (Seijoh-061)

[personal profile] grandtrashking 2022-06-12 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yanno, as awful as that all is, I gotta say I'm impressed with coming up with a plan like that. Seems pretty smart, which makes these people more dangerous, though.

[Not much of a win, unfortunately, win-lose more like. Or a straight up losing situation if they ran into the really smart ones. BEST NOT TO DWELL ON THAT THOUGHT--]

Our hosts, however, I doubt would understand that isolating everyone if something happened would be better if they're thinking like that. Guess it's a good thing I decided to have three of my strongest with me instead of all six I'm working on training.

[Maybe a topic change would help ease up on some stress.]

Aside from all of that, you seem to know about all this chaos, how long have you been here if you don't mind my asking? I've only been here since January, right before the cute snow hat Pokémon showed up. Snorunt, I think.
woofdad: the entire history of magic (let me explain to you)

[personal profile] woofdad 2022-06-15 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm-hm. It was clearly planned well in advance. [Speaking of which...] Keeping strong Pokemon with you is definitely a good idea, yeah. At the very least, we can try and be prepared for something to go wrong.

[That said, he will gladly take that topic change! ...Even if he laughs a bit awkwardly at the mention of Snorunt.] Oh, boy, the Snorunts... Anyway, I've been here, uh... around a year and a half?
