Luisa Madrigal | Encanto

A. Goldenrod City

[ The first strange thing to happen to Luisa was finding herself in Goldenrod City. She and Mirabel had been heading towards the city anyway, but she had thought that they still had a few more days to travel. She wasn't about to complain about arriving earlier than expected though, it was just surprising.

The second thing was when she had started doing her workout routine. She'd felt a little...different since she had woken up that morning, and yet it was a bit of a familiar feeling. She hadn't thought too much about it, though, as she went to work.

However, as she was doing push-ups against the wall of the inn, the whole building suddenly seemed to moved, and Luisa nearly fell over when it was no longer supporting her. She tensed, especially hearing some of the startled cries from the people inside. ]

Oh no! Oh no, oh no, oh no...!

[ She doesn't even think about it as she reaches down and pulls the building back into place, getting it back to where it had been before. But once the she's sure the building is settled, she looks down at her hands a moment, confused. ]

What...?

B. Network | Video

[ The feed opens up to Luisa, and it looks like she's running a few laps. Which was pretty normal. She even had some of her Pokemon on her back, which wasn't that out of the ordinary either.

What might have been more unusual were the specific Pokemon she was carrying as she ran: her Tyranitar, Tropius, Luxray, Corviknight, Gardevoir, and Bibarel were all somehow perfectly balanced on her back, and she carried all of them with no effort at all, as if they weren't even there.

As she slows to a stop, she seems to finally notice the camera on her, and she gives an awkward smile. ]

So, uh...I think I've gotten my strength back? Does this usually happen?

[Radley has to stop and stare when he sees Luisa move the building and pull it back into place. He's already seen a lot of people with powers he hadn't expected, but this is still surprising to him even though he knew about Luisa's town and Casita being magic. They hadn't actually discussed the people having powers too.

He finds he's not quite sure what to say. He could crack a joke about the weak foundation of the building, but he's not sure that would break the ice of the awkward moment. The last thing he wants to do is to say something offensive.

Evie decides to help by frolicking over with happy chirps. The other three Eevees follow. Luisa hasn't met Kiryu and Isla yet.

Grateful, Radley smiles as he goes over.]

Hi there.

[He'll play it cool for now.]

[neverbreaks]

[ The sound of the Eevees get her attention, and as Luisa looks up and sees him approaching, she offers a smile and hope she doesn't look too embarrassed. ]

Oh, uh...hey. How are you?

[ She can only hope that he hadn't seen what just happened. ]

[crystalmaster]

I'm pretty good. I wasn't expecting to see you here in town. Was that planned, or did you show up here because of the wacky event?

[The Eevees all dance around, warbling cute.]

Well, Mirabel and I had planned to come here anyway. But it didn't take as long to get here as we thought it would.

[ So a little of both. ]

[crystalmaster]

Cool. So I guess the next step is that we need to find her. Hopefully she showed up here too....

[neverbreaks]

Yeah, we arrived in the city together. I think she's just shopping right now.

[crystalmaster]

Oh, okay. That's good that she's not lost.

[The Eevees dance around warbling. The Skitty meows.]

I got some more new friends. A couple more Eevees, as you can see, and this little cutie.

[Radley pets the Skitty.]

I also have a Rookidee egg, thanks to your suggestion.

[He smiles.]

[ Luisa can't help a smile. ] Yeah? That's great! I hope they get along well with you and your team.

I've kinda been hoping to maybe get an Eevee sometime myself. I think they're pretty rare in the wild, though.

[Mirabel was doing some shopping around the big department store - because when you teleport to a random big city why not look around? She checks her gear when she sees Luisa doing her usual workout routine and uh - huh...]

Luisa! Your strength is back? When did that happen?

[neverbreaks]

[ Hearing her sister's voice on the Pokegear, Luisa carefully lets her Pokemon down, except for Juana who perches back on her shoulders once everyone else is back on the ground. ]

Just this morning, I think. When I woke up, I noticed something felt a little strange, and then I accidentally...moved a building.

[nonmagical]

That's pretty incredible! Are you relieved to have it back?

[She doesn't have to use it here, and she seemed like she was doing fine without it. But Mirabel did wonder if it was something she missed having.]

... Oh no, I just realized - that means keeping up with you in training is going to be way harder now!

[She's literally only started her Luisa-style training today.]

[ Luisa is silent for a moment as she thinks over Mirabel's question. Is she relieved to have it back? She had been a bit uncertain at the start when she first arrived here and discovered she was without her Gift again. But she can't think of any moment that she had wished she'd had it back.

But then, there is still something familiar about having it. A kind of warmth that she only ever realizes is missing until it's gone. ]

...Honestly, I'm not sure? It's kind of fun having it now, I guess. [ Her Pokemon seem to be getting a kick out of it, anyway. ] But I don't know if I'm relieved to have it back.

[ Truthfully, she had been getting by just fine without it.

Her sister mentioning training earns a bemused smile. ] What kind of training are you doing?

[nonmagical]

[Well, at least there's no pressure to use her strength here! And if anyone does pressure her... well, Mirabel's got a good kicking leg for that sort of thing.]

Well, as long as your having fun with it…

[And at the mention of training, Mirabel puffs up proudly.]

I started training today! Like yours! Like the whole... running, and lifting things! Me and my Pokemon are taking training seriously now!

[She's bad at it so very bad at it.]

[ Luisa can't help an amused smile; it's not that she didn't believe her sister could take training seriously, but the thought of Mirabel just suddenly jumping in to her type of workouts was probably not the best idea. ]

Oh yeah? That's great. Just, uh...don't try to push so hard all at once, okay?

[nonmagical]

[It's really not, but considering Luisa is pretty much the only person she hangs around, she's adopting her strategies.]

I'm not sure if I could, but I'll try to ease into it!

[She definitely did try earlier - running laps with her Pokemon. It went about as well as expected.]

I want to get serious about training my Pokemon!

[neverbreaks]

[ This time she does laugh a little; not in a way that she's making fun of Mirabel, but because she thinks it's kind of sweet that her sister is, in some ways, kind of imitating her. ]

Y'know, that kind of reminds me of when we were little. Do you remember when you used to try to copy some of my workouts?

[ She wouldn't be entirely surprised if Mirabel didn't remember. She had been pretty young, and had stopped copying her after her disappointment of not getting a gift of her own. But Luisa could still think back to when her sister was a toddler, running around and trying to do some of the exercises that she would do. ]

[... Dang, she doesn't think Luisa's mentioned having super strength before (although with her build, Allura's not too surprised), but WOW.]

Ah... yes, actually. Now that I remember, something similar happened in December; I received most of my Altean abilities back, including my own strength.

[neverbreaks]

[ Somehow Luisa manages to keep balancing all of her Pokemon on her back and shoulders, even as she reaches down to pick up her Pokegear from where it was sitting. ]

Really? [ She considers that for a moment, because she couldn't remember Allura mentioning any of that when they had first met in person either. ] So does it not last?

[heartofalioness]

No, it was only for a few days. And at the time, there was a weird fog and unseen versions of Pokémon. ... Almost like the Hisuian Pokémon that have been appearing the last few months.

[neverbreaks]

[ She nods a little, and she isn't sure how to feel about the fact that she won't have her strength permanently. It would make some things easier...but then she has been getting by all right without it so far.

Still, the rest of Allura's words intrigue her a bit. ] Really? Do you think more strange Pokemon might show up now?

[heartofalioness]

I'm not sure. I think it'd be best to keep an eye out, just in case.

[And it's at that moment Allura's passing through some door or archway, aaaand promptly lands in the middle of somewhere flat on her face. That somewhere just happens to be right in Luisa's general facility, which the muscular girl will know by the very regal yelp she suddenly hears.]

[neverbreaks]

[ Luisa had been placing her Pokemon back on the ground when there's a yelp followed by a 'thump' behind her, causing her to jump a little. As she turns, she realizes that it's Allura, having fallen from...somewhere. ]

Oh geez...! [ She hurries over to help the other girl up. ] You okay?

[heartofalioness]

Gah, yes-- Luisa?! [She quickly looks around.] But... I was just... where are we?

[neverbreaks]

Uh...We're in Goldenrod City right now.

[ She had a feeling that Allura hadn't exactly been close to the city a few moments before, though. ]
