First Spell. Between Violet City and Cherrygrove City. [Backdated]
[OOC: EDITED!]
Things Keldor is not doing yet: going onCareless Cara Liss' magical mystery tour back into the past. A shame he's not yet, really. Time travel is a doable thing [very rarely done, but doable] in Eternia, meaning he'd be one of the few who will take it well and might actually enjoy it.
Really, it'll be cool to experience when he does get snagged up, but, well... We've got other things we want to do first. Backdate-y things.
Things Keldor is currently doing before Hilarity Hits: trying to keep his recently-acquired Growlithe egg warm. This would be a whole lot easier if he had his magic, but he doesn't, which means making do. He's currently on Route 30, somewhere between Cherrygrove and Violet, and has got a fire going at the moment, where he has a bunch of stones encircling it to heat up. Once they're hot enough, they're placed around the egg using tongs [because it's that or third degree burns when you're magicless]. Gingko, watching all this, seems to have remembered that he's a bird, and is doing his best to help, but he's only half the size of the egg and can only warm so much of it up. Momiji the Sentret and Ganpi the Scatterbug are doing their best to assist, but those stones are hot, and, well. Bug pokemon and fire. You know how well the two go together, but A for effort on Ganpi's part.
Judging from the looks of things, and the fact he's been at this for a few days, it shouldn't be much longer before the egg hatches and everyone can say "hello".

[Said animal, Panthor, is making full use of the fact that there's a nice warm fire he can curl up his purple, Maine-Coon-y fluff next to. Mmmm toasty.]

[Radley stares at Panthor in amazement.]
I had no idea people's animals from home could come with them. You're really lucky you got to start out here with an old friend as well as a new one!
no subject
[Pause for effect.]
A lot larger. I was able to use him for a steed.
[Stop bragging, Keldor.]

[Longing shows in Radley's eyes. He would have loved to bring a friend from home when arriving in a new place. Of course, he's grateful for all his Pokemon, who have become his second family.
Then the rest of the statement finally processes.]
You rode him?! Cats are even bigger in your world than in mine!
no subject
[Panthor is not complaining about being shrunk down to about 1/20th his original size, though, if it means not having to serve as taxi for his master.]
His species can boast impressive sizes, this is true.
no subject
Are there other big animals in your world?
no subject
[Pause.]
Not many cats, though.

[They're pretty sizeable. Seeing as they're tigers.]
no subject
Do all the animals come in colors like that?
no subject
[He says this like he's wondering amazing technicolour wildlife is strange to some people.]

[Just not always where you'd expect them to be, going by earth standards.]
no subject
[He's also sort of wondering if humanoids also come in vibrant colors (if there are humanoids there at all), but thinks that would be tactless to ask.]
Are the plants like that too?
no subject
Certainly.
[Some will even try to eat you, or strangle you, or whatever. Eternian flora is wild like that.]

[And it will be much grander once he's in charge, should he reclaim his birthright.]

[Okay, now that surprises Keldor. Every person on Eternia has been taught since childhood about things like other worlds and that their own is the centre of the universe. Even things like alternate dimensions and realities are known to people—in fact, you can even go there.
Or be given a one-way ticket into another dimension, in the case of Miro, whose absence is not being missed.]

[He laughs.]
I wonder how they'd fare here.

[Momiji dashes over and starts tugging at Keldor's clothing.]
Sen! Sensensen!
[She's pointing at the egg. Apparently the rocks have gone cold and need to be replaced with hotter ones. Ganpi is doing her level best to throw the stones in the direction of the fire she's avoiding with all the strength she has in her nubby little legs. Which is to say they land two inches in front of her. Three if she puts some real muscle into it. The Scatterbug gets a pat on the head for trying as the stones are picked up with the tongs and placed by the fire, as hotter ones are set by the egg.
Once done, Keldor checks to see if the egg is still warm.
Did... Did it wiggle? It wiggled, right? Just a teeny bit?]

[Radley comes to attention at the problem.]
Do you want some help putting new stones around?
[Evie wags her tail. She can help!]
no subject
[Don't burn yourself.]
Though, I think the egg moved a little.
[That means the Growlithe won't end up hard-boiled. Hopefully.]
no subject
[Radley brings some with his own tongs. Evie follows cheerily!]
That's great!
no subject
Does it take very long for an egg to go from "laid" to "hatching"?
[You'd be surprised.]
