018 - Starytube Stream
[First of all, there's a link posted on the Pokegear network from one Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd. As in, literally posted, you might have to copy paste it into the address bar? He's doing his best, bless him.]
Gremlin is doing streams for charity on his channel. Please support him. Thank you.
[And those who follow the link will find a stream shortly starting up on Staryutube, for a user called DABrat! Gremlin the Rattata is set up on, like.... so many little cushions on what looks like a tried and true gamer's chair, squeaking happily as Dimitri gingerly makes sure his little Rattata-sized headset is fit on perfectly.]
[Did you know that they make headphones just for Rattata? Now you do!]
[With that done with, Gremlin excitedly waves both of his tiny little rat hands up at the camera, and Dimitri smiles as well.]
Hello again, everyone. Gremlin has decided to make this month's series of streams very special. Since it is October, he has thought that he would do a horror game playthrough every day. All donations he gets from these streams will go right to charity!
[Gremlin gestures ENTHUSIASTICALLY.]
[....Behind both Dimitri and Gremlin, in the neon-lit gloom from the rest of the room, a shape begins to form, with the faint red glow of eyes towering there in the shadows.]
For those who managed to send their donations in during specified times, they will even get to put forth what horror game that they would like to see Gremlin play. He has managed to amass a bit of a collection just for this month, and we are also not afraid to buy things if they are readily available.
[The mysterious shadowy figure slowly fades away. Dimitri and Gremlin remain none the wiser.]
Chat, you know that you must behave as is proper while we finish setting up, and then we will be taking the first suggestions!
[ooc: WELCOME TO GREMLIN'S HALLOWEEN CHARITY STREAM please ignore the chat and what they say about Dimitri, because he sure is
Basically how this will work is that you can assume that - so long as they donated! - your character can suggest whatever horror game they like for Gremlin to play, and that can be threaded out to varying degrees! Alternatively, they can just comment and chill as Gremlin plays games with Dimitri there to offer commentary, and make sure his rat is doing well.
This will basically happen for long hours during all of October, so you can have your character comment whenever. This also ensures anyone can suggest whatever game and be guaranteed Gremlin will play it.
Suggested games can be completely made up, or Poke-parodies of actual horror games. If you're having trouble thinking of them, I have a whole spreadsheet of various horror games that you can riff off of.
Happy October!]

[Live your bliss, Hisuian Zoroark- he can't really do anything too overt or it'll give you away but you have been....Acknowledged-
Ahem.] It's definitely going to be an undertaking...but I think it should work well! And, it's for a good cause!
no subject
Still, it will take some time, but we have prepared for this with things like snacks, and -
[And it is around this time that, unfortunately, Dimitri turns around.]
[He'd meant to simply gesture in the direction of some snacks. However, with the presence of something there - a something intentionally doing spooky red glowing eyes - his fight or flight instincts kick in.]
[Dimitri tries to slug his own Zoroark.]
[What happens next behind Gremlin's chair is a flurry of yelling, screeching, fur, and two idiots hitting the ground in a tangle, out of sight.]
[Gremlin perks up, smacks his hands against the keyboard, and raises his hands in victory.]
DOWNLOADED SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!
no subject
Er... [Sorry Gremlin but-] Are those two going to be alright by the way?
no subject
[...]
[Gremlin then clambers over the back of his chair, tiny little Rattata legs hard at work, so that he can perch on the back of it to get an idea of the stupid scuffle happening there on the floor, tail bobbing back and forth.]
[He stays there for a second before spin-hopping around, and slides down the back of his chair to plop right back onto the cushions. Keyboard smack time!]
YEAHITSTOTESFINEHESALREADYDEAD
[And with that reassurance given, Gremlin minimizes the LPer screen as he starts the game up properly, giving it the main focus!]

[Can't be talking over someone's stream after all!! For that matter he should be in the chat of the stream, so off he goes!]
I'm a little excited. I didn't get to play or watch a lot of modern games at home, and these seem even newer.

NEWVIEWERHELLOANDWELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GAMEGO
TIMETODOELECTRICIANJOBS!!!!!!
[And what a fun opening cutscene it is! Although Gremlin seems confused initially, cocking his head from side to side with every fake commercial flip.]
[In the background, the sounds of scuffling and fighting finally ease up a little bit. There's huffing. Boots scraping the floor. Dimitri pulls himself up, one hand keeping his eyepatch in place and wholly ignoring a split lip. His hand hand is holding his Zoroark by the scruff of the neck.]
Oh, I see we've started the game.

Your new friend looks more like a meowth that got caught than a zoroark, hahah.
[This early in on any game and there's more dialogue and story than there is gameplay, so he doesn't feel so bad about keeping his commentary light.]
no subject
Yes, he is unfortunately something of a troublemaker. I suppose I should not be surprised that he has decided that this was the perfect occasion with which to bother people. I doubt he meant to get caught so early on.
[Mononoke huffs a bit. FOILED....]
[However, Dimitri's attention soon joins Gremlin's, and becomes just confused.]
Did we turn on another video by mistake...? Oh!
[WELL THAT TITLE SCREEN SURE CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. And then there's the gameplay he thought he knew!]
[Gremlin smacks his hands excitedly. GAME TIME PROPER]
no subject
Anyway, excellent! Game time game time.]
It kind of feels like if you put muppets over the older survival horror games, or horror adventures...neat.
no subject
[....So he's done something, which has both trainer and rat staring.]
....Oh.
ILEFT
[Guess who accidentally discovered an ending?]
no subject
Emporio of course, breaks down laughing.]
The end!?
[Ok but let's try that again now,]

SOTHATWASTHESTREAMEVERYONE
THANKYOUFORCOMING
THATWASTHEGAME!!!!!!!
Gremlin, no, restart -
[Mononoke, at least, seems to be snickering, so at least one person is having a good time.]
[But hey, here we go again! At least Gremlin is a little more focused this time, making sure not to turn the keys in the ignition, and instead go where the game has been telling him to go all this time. As he does so, Dimitri shakes his head.]
I did not realize such an option happened in games!
no subject
Secret early game endings don't count, that was way too short!
It was pretty funny though. Let's see what happens for real now.
[What happens: Sock Puppet Time]
no subject
[Perhaps as a product of being a modern rat, Gremlin rolls along with it much easier, nodding as though these statements make perfect sense. When their new companion finally slips away, Gremlin wastes no time in trying to poke around. There's so much to look at! Stairs to ascend! Doors that are locked!]
[While Gremlin is thoroughly nosy, Dimitri speaks up again.]
So that sort of creation was normal in children's entertainment?
no subject
Apparently. I didn't get to watch a lot of it growing up, but there was at least one series that focused on humans interacting with puppets.
They weren't actually alive though.
no subject
[Dimitri considers this, even as Gremlin takes what little he can get (which is mainly some sort of strange and flat metal object) before running outside only to immediately (zero hesitation) pursue the first figure in the distance he possibly can. Stranger danger? Not here with this rat.]
I suppose it could be different here, considering the sort of lives which exist. For example, ah... Shuppet? I know very little about it -
[On the basis that Dimitri tries, so hard, every day, to continue being ignorant about ghost type, with varying degrees of success (as Mononoke under his arm attests to).]
- but I wonder if that lead to an inspiration for this sort of game...?
no subject
...It doesn't quite work.]
Some people find animatronics scary- probably something like that.
A banette might fit the idea you have better.
[You chase those Dangers, Gremlin!! Whoo!]
no subject
[...You know, after nosing around a little and poking curiously at some papers hanging around here and there. Presumably the chattering is him making commentary for his Pokemon viewers...?]
[Or maybe he just needs to chatter a little bit. As is his rat ways.]
[Meanwhile, Dimitri's ways are just staring blankly at the screen for a moment.]
I see. I would not be too familiar with ghost types and the like. I will take your word for it.
...And I do not like animatronics either, so I will readily believe you in that respect.
no subject
I do my best!
In a way, this is proof in concept; if you don't like animatronics, you have good reason to be scared of them, so the game's successful.
no subject
...although I do not think Gremlin has such problems.
[Because with his need to nose around, he's already made his way into the next room, and, just, run straight into one of the game enemies! No hesitation there, although he squeaks in surprise when he's abruptly grabbed.]
[...Chase music would be appropriate for how he nyooms around the little backstage area while being chased by a peculiar and Pokemon-themed giant muppet.]
[Dimitri watches - although, really, he listens more than that.]
I didn't think a horror game would be so - talkative?
[so much is happening here, even as Gremlin finally makes a bolt into one of the only other doors. Notably not the one the enemy was guarding.]
no subject
I think the chatter is supposed to be part of the charm here; it fits with the mood of the game in this case at least.
(Nice get-away Gremlin!)
no subject
[...So that's how Gremlin feels about the compliment, at least.]
[While he's busy poking around in all the corners and getting strange little bags of some sort, Dimitri is left to ponder that himself.]
I suppose you are right... It reminds me a bit of Gremlin himself. He is also very talkative, after all.
[As demonstrated, like, literally right now. With the neverending stream of Rattata chittering, only paused occasionally such as when he drops down from some sort of ledge only to find himself face to face with another puppet and a... stop light?]
[But he makes up for that with the constant cocking of his head and twitching of ears.]
no subject
no subject
[Cue break in the gameplay for Dimitri to reach over to pat Gremlin as his little Rat makes it past that harrowing Red Light Green Light section to start nosing about in a room with some... very nice music in it, Dimitri decides.]
But he is like this even when he is off camera.
[Rats have so much to say]
no subject
Nice music here by the way.
