Event: The Reveal Glass

Across the Pokémon world, characters may have spotted a falling star last night. Or at least, one would think that's what it was: a naturally occurring phenomenon, rather than a legendary artifact. Specifically, the Reveal Glass fell to earth during a fight among a group of legendaries started by the return of a long-lost family member. But it's probably best to leave them to handle all that themselves, while your characters deal with other consequences.

The Reveal Glass shattered upon impact, and the shards scattered throughout Kanto, Johto, and the Sevii Islands… And made their way into the hearts of your characters. But bleeding isn't the concern here. Instead, the impact will hit when a character first looks into any reflective service. An eerie feeling hits them as they're transported to the Mirror Dimension.

While this realm can be many different things for different characters, one thing is always true: It is a place of honesty, where true selves are revealed. Those struck by a shard will find themselves facing truths they are no longer able to hide, and now must accept. Fortunately enough, even those who haven't been struck will be able to enter the Mirror Dimension during this event via a reflective surface to offer help. By the end of the 29th, things will return to normal. Characters will be back in the usual Pokémon world and their hearts will be rid of the shards, but time is strange in the Mirror Dimension, and the experience may feel like it goes on far longer than a day. Or, maybe that's just the emotional exhaustion.

“They are a species of winged horses with a skeletal body, faces with reptilian features and wide leather like wings reminiscent of bat wings. Despite their strange appearance and their carnivorous diet along with being seen by my world as signs of ill omens, they’re actually gentle kind clever creatures and they’re very loyal to whoever they consider as friends and they will defend them from anyone or anything they deem as a threat,” Harry explains to him.

"Huhhh..." He's picturing it...he's picturing it...

"Sounds cool!" That's Emporio for you. "...Sounds a lot like what Dark types amount to here, too. That and ghost types...I wonder what they'd classify one as if they were here."

Considering what makes them invisible, almost certainly 'Ghost'.

“Yeah that is very much possible. They could fit either Ghost or Dark or even both,” he chimes in, “They probably wouldn’t look too out of place when they are placed among the Dark and Ghost type Pokémon.”

“Sen! Sentret, Sentret.”

"Dark Ghost........."

Emporio thinks about the pokemon he knows that are Dark and Ghost type.

He winces.

"....That's a rough crowd..."

“Sen?”

“I haven’t encountered that many Pokémon who are both Dark/Ghost types so far despite having Pokémon who are either part Dark or part Ghost. Maybe it is probably for the best that I should watch out for them before they try to do too horrible,” Harry admits to him while petting Dobby on the head.

"There's only two," Emporio explains with a shrug though. "When you look at how many pokemon there are, and how many types there are... ...there's so many possible combinations that there are some that haven't even been recorded- like 'Bug' and 'Dragon'. But Dark Ghost only has two examples of pokemon having the two types at once. Sableye, the rock-eater, and Spiritomb, the collection of vengeful ghosts."

With a small laugh, he can't help but add- "It's kind of a relief when a pokemon is something nice and simple, like Normal type..."

“A ghost that eats rocks and a collection of spirits? That is something very unusual. Some type combinations are very rare to find out in the world,” Harry nods while Dobby snuggles up to him.

“Same, it is quite refreshing to find something less complicated and simple like a Normal Pokémon. Funnily enough, Normal types are usual immune to Ghost types like how Dobby and my Hoothoot are immune to them. My Eeveelutions were used to be immune to that too before they evolved into their current forms.”

"Yep! Neither are really bringing to mind the kind of personality you attributed to Thestrals though," he laughs quietly. "I actually used that when I fought Whitney and Morty...sure, Normal pokemon are immune, but Ghosts are immune to normal moves too- so I figured, what better challenge for the gym leader than a pokemon with Normalize?"

“Oh, so you went into the gym battles against Whitney and Morty with mostly Normal types?” Harry is intrigued, “I remember when I went to face Morty, I had brought along Rowan and Minerva since they have the Ghost typing which means they can get affected by Ghost moves as much as his Pokémon. It was a gamble but it did managed to work out in the end. Maybe when I decide to challenge Morty on the Elite level I might consider taking Dobby with me as a part of the team perhaps.”

“Sentret! Sen-Tret, Tret, Sen, Sentret!” Dobby cheerfully squeaks at the idea of him trying to outsmart Morty’s Team as a Normal Pokémon.

The boy grins- the first since that place in the mirror realm- and nods. "Yep. Well...For Morty anyway. For Whitney, I used all ghost types; she still has Fairy moves on her side after all. I figured...The gym leaders obviously have to use certain teams for regular challengers. Sure, they have the elite teams...but it probably gets boring, being faced with the same type of opponent otherwise. So...I like to try mixing it up," he adds with a shrug.

Ohoho though! "Dobby? He'd probably be a great choice! See about looking into the move 'Foresight'- he should have it, and it'll let him hit ghosts."

“Sen! Sentret!”

Dobby happily squeaks in joy, he would love to face Morty someday. He is determined to grow stronger so he can become as strong as many of his older teammates someday and fight plenty of Ghost types. Harry is quite bemused by his Sentret’s battle ready eagerness and willingness to challenge Ghost types.

“Well that must have been an interesting experience to witness: I always assume that I need to counter the gym leaders’ teams with the types they’re weak against. For example I almost got worried when I sent out Pyra on Bugsy’s Heracross since she was partly weak to Fighting type but I was still amazed that she survived the whole battle and won her fight against it.”

Emporio’s suggestion does get him grinning in intrigued already, “Well now. It sounds like he is excited to face off Morty someday. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for Foresight and see about how to teach him that move. He would love to learn it as much as he wants to go after his team.”

“Sentret!”

"Generally, yeah! I wouldn't really recommend trying the opposite unless you were really sure what you were doing. Even I don't go with exact opposites most of the time..."

Ground isn't effective against flying for example, but it at least isn't Weak to flying either.

“Yeah. That is a fair and valid point. Doing the same strategy does get very boring once it becomes being overdone. I might have to help my team to learn some new strategies by the time I will have to face the remaining gym leader in Jotho and Kanto.”

“Sen-tret, Sentret, Sentret.”

"If you ever need advice, I could try helping?"

This talk has definitely done its job to make him forget (a bit) about the mirror world. He's already looking more like himself!

“Oh yes, I would love to get any help in training and gym battles at any time. Never hurts to learn new things and tricks along the way,” Harry happily smiles back as he wholeheartedly accepts any kind of help on getting better in battles from anyone.

Dobby happily bounces up and down in sheer joy too, squeaking varying versions of ‘Sentret’ too.

Now.

"So... ...where are we, right now?"

Because this sure isn't Sevii.

Oh right, he didn’t expect to realize that Emporio needs to get back to where he was supposed to be at.

“Hang on a minute. It looks like we’re now in Olivine City right now,” Harry could definitely spot the lighthouse from where they are at, “It must be the city’s very own lighthouse we’re seeing at the moment.

“Sentret?” Dobby soon stands on his tail to see the lighthouse properly.

"OLIVINE!?" Geeze! "At least there should be a ferry here to get me back then..."

Now that he looks though... Yep. "...Yep, that's the lighthouse alright..."

“Yeah, the ferry shouldn’t be this far away from here,” Harry nods in agreement as he checks to see the ferry schedule on his PokéGear, “I might be planning to go to Cianwood City and face Chuck first real soon before I could battle Jasmine. Last time I checked at her gym earlier this year, she was apparently too busy to attend to my gym challenge bid.”

“Sentret, Sentret,” Dobby squeaks as he begins to find the ferry in question.”

"Cianwood huh? That might be a good idea; it's weird, but Chuck's team is a little lower levelled than Jasmine I think..." He might be remembering wrong though. Don't quote him.

"Well...I guess I'll see you later, then. Good luck with your challenge!"

“I suppose that is possible. I will definitely need to get ready and hope for the best in that upcoming gym battle. Chuck is probably not going to go easy on me though. I mean, he does specialise in the Fighting type after all,” he nods as he tries to come up with a good battle plan against Chuck.

“Okay then. Will be seeing you around later on. And thanks for the good luck too, I’m going to be needing it after my horrible luck from earlier this year.”
