[ Next up in your feed is a man with green hair and whiskers filming selfie-style. He has a wide, crooked grin when he begins to talk.]

I think I've found my new favorite Pokemon! C'mere, get in the shot. C'mere babygurl, mwah mwah mwah mwah!

[ A Chatot sidles up his arm to settle next to his head. She bobs up and down and watches the reflection on the Poke'Gear's screen with excitement.]

Show 'em what you can do! Come on! Daddy's perfect girl!

[ The Chatot fluffs up her feathers and bobs her head before speaking in a low gravely voice:]

Son of a bitch! BJ is the coolest! Good girl, Chatterbox! Good girl! Ha ha ha! Motherfucker! Cookie? Cookie?

[Beetlejuice brays with laughter as the Chatot continues to babble nonsense and curses.]

Cookie? Cookie time? Cookie? Arrest this, asshole! BJ is so sexy! You're so smart! You're so smart! God I'm so tired of being alone!

[ Beetlejuice gently but swiftly pinches her beak shut. ]

Alright, that's enough! No clue where she picked that up. BJ out!

[ The video ends. ]

[Being a teenager and all, Louie finds a funny little animal that swears very funny.]

That's pretty great. Her name's Chatterbox?

Heh, yeah. She hasn't stopped talking since I caught her.

Heh, she wouldn't be the first bird I've met who's like that.

And when it comes to pokemon, I usually go for ones that are like cats, but a lot of the birds are pretty unique, in cool ways. And it's hard to beat the convenience of flying-types for getting around.

[ Beetlejuice looks thoughtful. He brings Chatterbox into frame. She's big for a parrot, taking up his whole shoulder. ]

Yeah, I see people flying over on Charizards or whatever. I don't think this little lady is gonna be taking me anywhere though. Unless?

Oh, no, she would be too small, you're right.

[He pauses a beat.]

At least, I think she'd be too small, but she can probably learn the attack fly, right?

[ Beetlejuice is gazing at Chatterbox as he formulates a plan to see if he can use her like a parachute if he were to hold her feet and jump off a building. ]

Can't see why she couldn't. Where's a guy go to teach his Pokemon that move?

You need the HM for it. One of the gym leaders should give it away as a reward for beating them.

[Wait... This is a business opportunity!]

But still, a Chatot probably would be too small. I mean, look at her... She's great! Cleraly. But with a talented pokemon like that, do you really want to take any risks? You're probably better off finding a different pokemon who can learn the move.

Just do some research into what options you have where, no big deal. Oh, but you'd also need to know which gym gives the HM away... And get there. And you'd probably want to have a good strategy and team prepared, so you're not doing all that travel for nothing, too.

Or, you could save yourself all that trouble by just hiring a breeder who already has access and can get you a custom-order egg for the flying type you need, one that will hatch knowing the move.

[A subtle salesman, he is not. Nor as clever as he thinks of himself being...]

[ Beetlejuice sees through the kid's spiel and he admires it. This guy's got determination! He loves it! And BJ loves acquiring new Pokemon.]

Is thaaat so? You wouldn't happen to know where I could find a breeder like that, would ya?

I can take a break from my final ranking project from the JKBA to help someone achieve flight. It would break my mother's heart if I did anything else.

[Oh wait, that probably would hold more weight for people who know--]

[There, fixed it, time to get back into the pitch... With a bit of fine print mixed in there.]

So, of course I'll take the job. Once I get the egg to you, all you'll need to do is wait for it to hatch and get the right gym badge and you'll be able to take to the skies in no time.

[ A yellow grin. ]

Sounds great! What'll I owe ya? A 'mon like that's bound to fetch a pretty penny. Or whatever we use here. I don't care about money.

[Louie already knows his answer, based on his usual rate for more special eggs-- You know, plus just a bit more because this is a custom order. It's just good business sense! --but he makes a point of seeming thoughtful for a few seconds first. That'll come off as more professional, right, if he's giving this careful consideration?]

Let's call it eighteen-hundred. Fifteen-hundred for the egg, plus a little extra for the time away from my ranking assignment. What do you say?

I say, you've got yourself a deal, kid! Operation Beetle Airlines is in swing!

[Okay, he had to laugh at that. Pretty sure those weren't words that were generally meant to be heard across the network.]

She's talkative! I didn't know there was a Pokemon that could do that.

You've- [Snicker] -trained her well?

[ Okay good this guy isn't commenting on CB's little slip up. ]

When I caughtt her I thougt well she looks like a parrot, she can probably do parrot things--which includes talking and biting the shit out of my fingers, hah! She's a real spitfire!

[He had to laugh again, just at the clear, sheer joy in this guy's voice.]

That's great! Seems like you've found a real friend there.

How long did it take her to learn all that? And I guess she picked them up from you or your friends?

Not long at all! She already says a bunch of other stuff in other peoples voices--probably from around Violet. She does some Pokemon voices too. Show 'em, Chatterbox!

[ He brings his arm into the frame where the bird is perched. She blinks at her reflection in the Poke'Gear's screen. She leans down to peck at it and hits the button that swaps BJ's camera from selfie mode to the front-facing camera so the fraggle gets a nice shot of the man's boots and the sidewalk. ]

Hey, quit messin' around. I'll give ya a peanut!

[ He doesn't notice the change in his camera and fishes something out of his pockets to bribe her with. She instantly starts squawking and then-- ]

Pika-chu! Pi pika chu!

Atta girl!

[The mischief gets a good-natured snort out of him, but hey, that pride in a Pokemon is really catching, and he smiles brightly.]

That's amazing! I've never seen another Pokemon who can copy someone like that.

But uh, I think she changed the camera angle on you, eh?

Heh, what? Oh--can't deprive you of my beautiful face!

[ He quickly fixes his Poke'Gear's view. Chatterbox is now on his shoulder and squished up against his head as close as she can get. In one claw she holds a shell-on peanut that she is nibbling at. ]

I know about ditto--but I've never met one. Dunno if they can copy voices or not.

[ Meanwhile, Chatterbox does her best impression of the bell over a shop door dinging. ]

[He grins at Chatterbox, utterly delighted by her antics.]

Ohh, I've seen a couple Ditto before! Out there in my exploring; never caught one, though. But I don't think they copy the voices, or. [He stops to ponder.] At least any I've encountered haven't.

[ Beetlejuice chuckles. ]

Guess that's a good way to tell if you've got a real Chatot or not!

Yeah, absolutely!

I almost wish I could take you guys back to my home world. I bet the other Fraggles would get a real kick out of her, she's a real laugh!

What's a Fraggle?

Well-!

[He stops a moment to consider, then laughs softly.]

Fraggles are a lot different than how everybody looks here. Usually we're pretty small, like maybe as tall as two of your Chatots standing on top of each other? [Yeah, that would look about right, he figures.] We're furry and colorful, with long tails.

But more importantly, we love a good time! It's not a day that goes by where there's not lots of partying, music, and games. [Barring the occasional ecological disaster, of course-] So that's why I think all of this would fit right in.

[ Beetlejuice listens while Chatterbox preens his gross green hair. ]

A whole species whose whole thing is partying? I love it! Almost makes me wish I'd been born a Fraggle. I think you and me could be pals.

[ He flashes a yellow grin. Beetlejuice loves partying, music, and games but also spreading terror and chaos--his idea of a good time might be a little different than Gobo's. ]

[It might be different but that's neither here nor there at the moment. He'll... cross that road when they get to it?]

Yeah! Hey, more friends is never a bad thing, right? Especially anyone out there looking for a party.

My name's Gobo.

Hah, nice ta meet ya Gobo! Call me BJ!

[ He gives Gobo a cheesy wink. ]

So, party guy, where's the best place in Johto to cut loose? I think I've seen everything there is to see in Goldenrod.

Ahh, I dunno about Johto, you're asking the wrong guy for that. But I could tell you all about some great spots on Kanto! Fraggles are practically born able to swim, so of course there's the Cerulean City water park.

And there's this... [Hold on, he has to search for the word. ...Nope, can't find it.] Well, I don't remember what it's called, it's not a word I'm all that familiar with. But it's in Celadon City, and it's got lots of flashy lights and music, and great games! I haven't actually gone in there yet, I'm usually just passing through the city on my way to the next cave. But it seems pretty cool!

[The casino, of course.]

Oh, I'm down for Kanto if the party's lit!

[ He gives the fraggle a grin. ]

Hey, if you haven't seen it and I haven't seen it, why don't we both check it out?

[...Lit?

Oh, but he definitely brightens at the question.]

Yeah sure, that sounds great! Somewhere like that's gotta be even better when you've got someone with you.
