save our snorunts event log
Who: Everyone!
When: January 2-26
Where: Practically everywhere. Maybe not the volcano on Cinnabar Island.
What: Save those Snorunts!
OOC Info: here!
The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?
It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.
But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)
In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

He sounds like Evie.
[He picks Evie up with a free hand.]
That'd be great, thanks. We were trying to get these cough drops and food to New Bark.

[Jotaro slides to the side of the drivers' seat so Radley has some more room. Then he picks up a Pokemon that was sitting on the driver's seat- a small Espurr. The Espurr gives a small mewl as she's settled on Jotaro's lap.]
Cough drops? Huh... I may take a couple of those off you. My own Glalie has been coughing up a storm as of late.
[He gestures to a rather frosty looking Pokeball on his belt. Jotaro's Glalie had just fallen asleep, meaning Jotaro could put him safely in his Pokeball. He imagines as soon as Omikuji wakes up, he'll sneeze his way out of the ball.]
no subject
[Radley smiles and gets in with Evie and the cargo. Evie happily greets the Espurr too!
Radley winces at the news of more sick Pokemon.]
Sure, I always bring extra in case we run into more who need them.
no subject
[After greeting Evie, Vivian nods. With a small mewl, her eyes glow blue and she begins to envelop the sled in the same aura. Then sled lifts a centimeter off the ground, hovering in place. After gently tugging the reins, Jotaro's Aurorus begins to carefully walk back across the ice towards the land.]
I should be thanking you. Anyone helping Snorunt and their evolution line is good in my book. I'll get it off you once we get to town... Let my Glalie rest a bit.
no subject
Sure. So you’re a Snorunt fan?
no subject
At the question, Jotaro snorts, amused.]
I like them well enough. No more than any other Pokemon but they're pretty cool. The ones that come at the start of the year have treated me and my love ones kindly. Same with Omikuji, my Glalie.
no subject
So what’s the way to end up being treated well by them? We tried to be nice and ended up with a Snorlax blocking our new front door for a month.
no subject
[Thanks, JoJo]

I hope they aren’t deliberately causing any of the weird luck people are having while trying to help them.
no subject
But if they are causing the weird luck, I wouldn't be surprised. It's not the oddest or the worst thing a Pokemon could control. Pokemon tend to react differently to humans and Snorunt are no different.
no subject
[He sighs and nods.]
Yeah, that’s a good point. All my Pokemon react differently to things.
no subject
[Thankfully, Jotaro doesn't have to worry about money or research grants in this place. He doesn't even have to worry about publishing - the research is all for fun and he can do it at his own pace.]
Mmm... Individuals comprehending things differently from others. Species having different understandings to others. So I wouldn't blame the Snorunt if they are making the weird luck intentionally... All we can do is do our best to help them and try understand that we are doing so. [He glances at Radley and snorts.] Even if it does cause us to slip on the ice on occasion.
no subject
[He nods.]
Yeah…. It probably won’t be the last weird thing to happen, the way things are going.
no subject
[Despite his appearance... Jotaro is a nerd.]
Probably not. New Year, new load of bullshit.
no subject
[He laughs at that.]
Yeah, pretty much.
no subject
[It may be as fruitless as trying to figure out where eggs come from but Jotaro's going to keep trying.]
So you a trainer?
no subject
Nah, I’m a breeder. Mainly of Eevees, but sometimes kitties too.
no subject
[At the mention of kitties, Vivian the Espurr raises her head, giving a small 'nyah?' at that. She's clearly asking if Radley also breeds Espurrs like her.]
Same. No sort of Pokemon in particular though. Just whatever people ask of me or whatever my Pokemon want to produce.
no subject
I’ve got a family of Skitties and Espurrs.
no subject
Do you keep all the Pokemon you breed? [Jotaro asks, curious. He hasn't talked to a lot of breeders.] Or do you give them away?
no subject
[Evie chirps happily. She loves having so many friends and family!]
no subject
[Vivian's not sure if she'd like have more Espurrs around. On one hand, it would be fun but she also likes being the lone Espurr princess of Jotaro's team. She simply 'nyas' and goes back to focusing on keeping the sleigh ride smooth.]
Do you find being a breeder satisfying? It feels aimless to me at times...
no subject
[He chuckles.]
My only Shinies have been gifts.
no subject
Must be a pain to try breed one. Feels like you need a lot of luck. [Luck he doesn't really have.]
no subject
[He laughs.]
Yeah, luck isn't very good odds.
