The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?

It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.

But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)

In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

Marigold chirps that chamomile is wonderful and lovely and Rosie mentions Radley making the tea.

"Yeah," Radley frowns. "Are any of yours really bad off?"

His have been spared so far, at least.

That does seem to grab Moon's interest. She doesn't move, but she does lift her head to look around the café for any sign of it.

"Boo is. The rest should be okay." He laughs awkwardly, remembering not all of them are behaving like they will be. "Ry and Min-un are acting pretty miserable, but we think they're milking it. They like the attention."

Not that they need to be sick to get it, but the way they've been acting since they started sneezing you'd think Ryan and Min-Gi didn't so much as look at them most of the time.

Rosie says there’s some in the cafe and Sabrina could bring it! She indicates an Espurr.

Radley chuckles. “Uh oh. They’re acting out The Man Who Came To Dinner, huh?”

Moon does look interested at the offer, and nods. If Sabrina will bring her her favourite tea, she's happy to accept it.

"Maybe not that bad, but..." He shrugs, unsure whether they're being nice by indulging them or if they're only fostering bad habits they'll regret later. "Yeah. I guess they're taking advantage a bit. Just while they're sick."

Sabrina walks off, deadpan, heading for the cafe.

“I guess sometimes it is kinda tempting to do that,” Radley chuckles. “The extra attention can be nice.”

Sabrina returns, floating a cup of tea.

"Yeah. They like it. And it's hard to say no to those faces."

He knows full well that he and Ryan are manipulated by them at times, but they try, and it's hard not to give in occasionally. Especially when they're sick, no matter how superficially.

Moon has waited patiently while Sabrina fetched the tea, poofing up her fur to keep her nice and warm until it arrives. She seems glad when it does, though makes no move to drink until it's set before her.

“Oh yeah. I usually give in to what these guys want too,” Radley remarks.

Sabrina lowers the teacup in front of Moon.

"I try not to too often, but it's tough when they're sick."

Even if he's 100% they're not as sick as they've been putting on. Min's seen them when they think he's not looking.

The tea smells pleasantly floral, and Moon's eyes flutter closed as she inhales the scent. It smells delicious!

"It sure is," Radley chuckles.

He looks around at the white Pokemon. "I'd probably better start getting the bath ready. You wanna come while I'm setting it up?"

Radley's right. Those Pokémon are still really in need of a bath, and the café will likely need a good cleaning too once everyone stops traipsing flour everywhere. He glances at Moon and seeing she's already quite happily occupied with her tea, he nods.

"Yeah. I guess I could give you a hand."

With so many to round up and wash he could probably use it.

Radley smiles. "That'd be great, thanks," he says.

Soon he's leading Min to the bathroom and setting up for the bath, filling the tub and getting out Pokemon Shampoo. Evie chirps happily. She loves baths!

It definitely makes it easier if they're excited. Even small Pokémon can be unruly if they really don't want to do something.

"Do they all like baths just as much?" he asks, leaning down to pet Evie's powdery fur.

Evie beams and nuzzles Min.

Radley chuckles. "Not as much as Evie does, but they're usually pretty good about it," he says. "Sammy likes it too, of course."

Sammy the Slowpoke wanders in. "Sloooowpoooke."

"Well, he is a water-type..."

In addition to Min's less favoured typing, but that's not Sammy's fault. He steps aside, letting him get by the side of the running bath in case he's hoping to be first up.

Sammy lazily goes on two legs and climbs up, flopping into the tub in pleasure and splashing water everywhere.

Radley chuckles and sidesteps, used to it.

The Eevees start jumping in too. A couple of them are swimming around.

"I'm glad I had a custom tub put in that's big," Radley remarks. It was more for the Pokemon than him, figuring there might be situations like this.

It definitely makes things easier, and it seems like a lot of fun for them too. Almost more like a game than a sorely needed bath.

"We only have a regular sized tub. It can make things tough for some of our bigger Pokémon," Min admits. They get by, but this is definitely a nicer set up.

Evie jumps in too and starts to swim.

Radley kneels down to start shampooing. "That sounds awkward," he says with a sympathetic wince.

Some of the Pokemon come over to the side to let him work on getting the flour out.

"We're used to it," he says with a shrug, taking the bottle once Radley is done with it so he can start shampooing some of the floury too. "But it still can be with a few of them.

At least everyone is good about getting shampooed. They hold very still while it's going on.

Radley nods. "What's your biggest Pokemon? Mine is probably Lapras."

Radley's Eevees definitely seem less wriggly than some of Min and Ryan's Pokémon that need a hand. Not that they're all poorly behaved, but with someone else's Pokémon he'd been bracing himself for at least a little mischief.

"On my team? Corviknight. We don't even try washing Red indoors. Ryan has an Orthworm and he's even bigger than she is. Thankfully they don't mind even if the weather is a little colder."

At just under 7' Blitz, Xandadu, and especially Beat who needs a hand are all awkward, but still possible.

The Eevees are definitely well-behaved! But they also love to play, and they're soon swimming again after being shampooed.

"An Orthworm, huh? Did he get that when they were running all over the place?"

That is not a happy memory for Radley.

It's a pretty uncomfortable memory for Min-Gi too, but at least they got Dune out of it. He nods, letting the Eevee he'd soaped up go and moving onto the next Pokémon to swim by him.

"Riz helped us catch him. He was a tough catch, but Dune's really settled in."

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, I'll bet that was tough," Radley agrees. "Good to hear it's working out, though. Is he friendly?"

He certainly hadn't wanted one of the worms.

The Eevees swim around while Sammy just lounges. Finally Radley starts trying to rinse off the remaining shampoo.

"Super friendly," Min tells him, which isn't what he expected when Ryan had decided to catch him. "He's always happy."

"I don't think you could ask for a friendlier Pokémon."

[crystalmaster]

"Wow. That's pretty cute," Radley has to admit.

"Eevee-vee!" Evie exclaims, popping up at the side of the tub.

Radley chuckles. "I think Evie wants to meet him now."

"Vee!" says Evie.
