The hills are alive with the sound of… sneezing?

It’s almost a week into January, and trainers may have started to get nervous about the lack of Snorunts. Whether you’re excited to see them, or just want the metaphorical bomb to drop and be over with - the wait is finally done. Snorunts have started to make their way into town.

But instead of fortunes, what they have to give right now is coughs, bleary eyes, and sad little flops sideways into the snow. They’re not alone, either: every once in a while you’ll see an equally sick Glalie or Froslass. (Be careful - a sneezing Glalie is basically a wrecking ball waiting to happen, prone to launching itself backward! And if you’ve been struck by an odd spurt of bad luck, maybe you’ll be right in the way when it does…)

In cities across Johto and Kanto, and in field camps in between, Nurse Joys are scrambling to treat the miserable Ice Pokemon. But they’re direly in need of more helping hands. Will you pitch in?

"Hmm... I doubt we'd ever find out if it was. Whether it was successful or not, they'd be foolish to admit something like this because it would make others aware that they were doing it. It does seem like, as a whole, it could have been used for something like that."

He didn't think they would either. As far as he was aware, potentially killing Pokemon was not their motive. Catching them was.

“Yeah, I doubt we’d ever find out unless there’s a whistle-blower or something,” Radley said. “Seems like there aren’t any of those for Team Rocket.”

And he kind of wondered why. Were all the members really that gung-ho? Or were nicer members too afraid to speak out, even anonymously?

"At least not that we are aware of. If there is one, he is not doing a good job."

Ulaz wondered that as well. He knew fully well how people could be corrupted, but there were always people who resisted.

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, he's sure not.

"Well, let's hope things will settle down after we finally get all the sick Pokemon taken care of. I'm sure everyone will need a break after that."

[scalpelofmarmora]

"I hope that they do as well. Maybe we are all a bit out of sorts with so many sick Snorunts."

Maybe the universe was out of sorts...

"We probably are. It must be a lot worse for people who actually have some of the sick Pokemon."

[scalpelofmarmora]

"Yes, I do not envy them how much they are worrying about their Pokemon right now, either trying to care for them while sick or trying to prevent them from getting sick knowing what is out there."

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, I'd be a basket case if there was something affecting Eevees," Radley said. "Hopefully we'll be able to figure this out soon."

"Eevee," said Evie.

"I would as well since I'd know that it would be hard for you and your team."

Irkut came wandering with his daughter Espurr in tow.

Radley smiled at that. "I'd feel the same about anything affecting yours."

He smiled at the kitties. "Hey there. How are you guys doing?"

Evie greeted them happily.

"Thank you."

Ulaz glanced over and smiled as Irkut, now a big boy Meowstic gave a wave and a squeak. His daughter also squeaked too, immediately "running" to go see Evie.

"These two have been a lot of help with distracting the Pokemon that need entertainment."

They were short so they were harder to spot (thus not becoming targets themselves) and psychic powers meant they could move things around.

Radley chuckled fondly as Evie hurried over too.

"That's good. I wasn't sure what to think about having mine try that. I didn't wanna risk them being caught."

Irkut's Espurr daughter was very happy to see the Eevee. She's telling her father that Evie is very fluffy.

"Yes, I wouldn't risk them, but Irkut believed they could do it and he has defensive powers just in case."

Evie warbled cheerfully. Radley always brushed her every day and kept her very fluffy!

"That's good," Radley said. "Pokemon so willing to hurt other Pokemon always creep me out." Or made him mad, but he just wasn't sure what to think of these Ice Pokemon.

Irkut's daughter might be trying to brush her own fluff out to try and be fluffier. Fluffy like Evie.

"It is disappointing. But at least many of the ones in our care do not do the same thing."

Radley chuckled at that cute sight, while Evie warbled encouragement!

"That's good, at least. I wonder what makes some of them act like that."

He supposed it was similar to how some animals behaved back home, but when Pokemon seemed to have higher levels of intelligence it seemed particularly unsettling from them.

... Maybe that was more comparable to how some people behaved back home.

Irkut was going to help her, but she squeaked at him. No, Dad! She's doing it herself! And she keeps trying to fluff herself up.

Ulaz was amused by this as he watched.

"Territory probably is some of it. Other might be general temperament of the Pokemon."

Radley was also very amused. How cute.

"Yeah. It's probably a different reason for each individual Pokemon," he mused. At least sometimes. Maybe some species really were inclined to certain behaviors.

Ulaz considered for a moment that this little girl Espurr - who hadn't named yet in case she found a home - was a lot like her father when he had been an Espurr. It was very cute. He had a feeling she was going to be staying, but hadn't committed fully today.

"Agreed, but I think any of them can change for the better."

Radley would hope she would be staying, if he was told about her. He's reminded of Irkut too.

"I'd like to think that too," he agreed.

He watched the Espurr. "So, does she have a name yet?" he wondered, knowing how thoughtful Ulaz was with names.

"She does not. I had not decided on one in case someone wanted to take her. However, it seems like she and Irkut are attached. So I have a feeling she will probably be staying."

Watching as she continued to try and fluff herself.

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, it seems like it'd be too sad to take her away now," Radley said. He knew he wouldn't have the heart to in such a situation.

[scalpelofmarmora]

"Agreed. They are very much a father and daughter. As much as she should go out on her own with her own trainer, they have become close and that will make it more difficult now."

It was easier when they were still relatively newly hatched. She was older and of course, Irkut had taken her under his wing so to speak.

"I'm sure she'd be happier staying on," Radley said. He didn't think a Pokemon needed to go off on their own unless that was what they'd be happier doing. "I've got quite a few Pokemon who hatched from eggs that stayed on."

"Vee!" said Evie, happily watching the fluffing.

"I think she would as well. Irkut would like it as well. I will probably have to think of a name for her then."

Fluffing complete! How did she do? She squeaked.
