[Frisk frowns into the camera, sitting a ways away from Elm's lab with their backpack in their lap and a worried looking Skiddo hovering over their shoulder. They chew on their lip and look back in the direction of Mom's house before finally speaking up.]

Does anyone know where Mount Ebott is? I...I think I'm lost.

Mom? If you're here, I'm by a lab right now...I made a new friend! His name's Buddy, lemme show you--

[The feed swings around, and now you all have a...very close up view of the Skiddo's face. It sneezes on the lens.]

He's really nice! I think you'll like him, too. He doesn't say a whole lot, though.

Um, okay, bye!

[ACTION]

[Frisk shuts off the feed, and slumps forward over their backpack, the cheerful facade falling away into worry. Buddy bleats and nudges their cheek, but Frisk doesn't respond outside of reaching up a hand to pet the Pokemon.]

[This is really bad. Nothing like this has ever happened before...it doesn't feel like a RESET, but Frisk can't think of anything else that would pull them away like this. And on top of that...]

[Again, Frisk closes their eyes and turns their mental focus inward, reaching and reaching and trying...but they're alone. Nobody came.]

[Frisk sniffles, and buries their face in their arms.]

...I wanna go home...

[They nod with a small smile.]

Um, okay! I will!

But...I don't know where here is.

[Isn't that exactly what being lost is?]

[Buddy is staying right where he is, thankyouverymuch, but Frisk hops off the bench and zooms over before Riku's even finished with his second sentence. One simply does not pass up the chance to hug a dragon!]

[That's what they're doing, if that wasn't clear. Hope you like small children clinging on you, buddy.]

He's so warm!

Ah, not exactly- oh, that's pretty cool! [Okay, she's impressed by that tongue trick.] No, but I mean... like, special abilities, unique to the individuals - Quirks! Like... I could make things weightless by touching them!

[She holds out her hands, palms up, fingers splayed, and wiggles them, showing the little soft pads on the ends of her fingertips]

[Cloud returns the smile with a faint one of his own.]

Take care of yourself, Frisk.

[He's not sure of the kid's circumstances, but even so he's got some ideas - even if old man Joestar is still around, his mom is the only close family he's got left. Even if sometimes she goes. Completely overboard with things. Enough that he's okay without her.

On the other hand, nothing Josuke could say would bring Frisk's mom here or get them home.]

Sorry, but... I can't help you get home and I'm not sure anyone here can.

Maybe your mom's here too, though? What's she look like?

[Oh. Hugs. Flare blinks at first, then lets out another rumbling laugh. He tries to bend down so he can give the kid a pat on the head. His arms aren't quite long enough for epic hugs.

As this happens, Riku makes his way toward the nervous goat. Might as well offer some support, right?]

Heh, yeah, but that's what happens when you're a fire-breathing reptile. And that's ignoring the flame on his tail.

Mmm...it does sound fun! But I gotta wait for mom first...

[SIGH at it again with the monster racism...]

Monsters aren't mean, they're nice! You just gotta get t' know them!

Really? That's great! I'll be there soon as I can!

Well, they weren't anywhere but th' Underground until a little ago.

[At least Frisk's monsters are much, much nicer...even if they did try to take their SOUL. Um.]

Whadda ya mean 'bout the world stuff?

Mm-hmm! She's a boss monster.

[Sorry, Rakka, but this kid is way, way too used to things that are weird even for their world.]

[Gosh dang right you're impressed by the tongue thing! They worked hard to perfect that one. But what she's talking about...Frisk blinks in surprise.]

You have blue magic?

Blue... magic?

[...is that a video game thing? She never played many RPGs]

It's not really magic, it's more like... a special ability? I guess it seems pretty magical, but where I come from, pretty much everyone has some kind of power!

[Frisk holds their bag a little tighter, but they smile when he asks about their mom.]

Oh, she's really super nice! She's real tall an' she wears glasses sometimes, an' she's got white fur an' red eyes!

[Buddy looks at Riku and bleats again, one hoof scuffing against the bench seat anxiously, but he doesn't back away. Frisk, meanwhile, laughs and grins up at Flare when he pats their head.]

Thank you! I like you, too!

[Now that they have properly made friends with Flare, Frisk turns to speak to Riku again.]

I guess! I know someone that's all fire, too! He doesn't burn you if he doesn't want to, though.

A-a monster? [Okay. Well. Rakka's used to some pretty weird things too, honestly. Her life revolved around weird things even before her arrival in this world.]

...W-well, uh, if she still looks like a boss monster, then it will probably be really easy to find her! [a hopeful twinge in her voice fades a bit.] Or she might be a Human now...

[She's trying, all right. Smiling at the camera, tilting her head like she's listening to everything Frisk says.]

This is Johto, it's a nice place--I promise. You have a map installed on your Gear, too, so you will not get lost!

I saw it...but it doesn't say which way Home is.

[New New Home, technically, but the shorthand is easier.]

I never heard'a Johto b'fore...

Well...that's because you are not home, you're in Johto. Johto is a whole other world and all of us are brought here from our homes.

[Well, here. He'll hold out a hand for the little goat to sniff. Simple enough, right?

Flare cracks a sort of lazy smile. What a funny kid.]

...Huh. Like he's literally made of fire? Must make rainy days a pain.

But--but how do I get back? I-it's really important, I gotta--I gotta be there!

[Their panic is infectious.]

You can't go back until you're sent back, but it's okay, I promise! Nothing will happen in your home while you are gone, your friends will be all right when you come back! --Actually, you might find some friends of yours here right now, that happens a lot.

[Buddy's ears and tail flick a few times, and he leans forward to sniff very carefully at Riku before bleating again with a somewhat less nervous 'Skiiiiii.']

Uh-huh! But he lived in Snowdin before, so he knows how'ta keep himself dry! He's got a real big umbrella an' good shoes an' everythin'!

Human? Why would she change t' a human?
