[It's Cecil's voice speaking, but his face isn't anywhere near the camera. Instead, the video shows a pan filled with pudding. Pudding that looks like it contains enough food dye to poison a man, all mixed together into some sort of eye-searing slurry, but pudding still.]

Is this recognizable as rainbow pudding in any way, shape or form? The... separation between the colors is not quite as clear as I'd hoped it would be.

[Apologies to both pudding-haters and fans of tasteful color palettes.]

This is new. And colorful. And strange.

He's gonna take a long moment to process this... feast.]

So, what's the flavor even supposed to be?

Each of the seven colors is supposed to taste like a specific fruit, from the red strawberry to the violet plum. Ideally, the first layer subtly gives way to the second, and so on.

[A beat, and a sigh.]

Which means that this tastes like bland fruit salad blended with pure sugar, obviously.

[He offers a small, sympathetic smile.]

Wonder what the trick is. Gotta admit, making pudding's not really my strong point, but there must be some way to pull it off.

There must be, but I've not found it in this world and it is completely unknown to mine. We usually harvest it instead of preparing it, you see.

[Following a recipe? Easy. Making up half of it as he goes? Not so.]

[Uh. What. Do pardon him while he stares, squints, and tries to process this.]

How?

By being very, very careful when we battle monsters of the flan family. Their inner pockets of rainbow pudding rupture extremely easily, which makes it inedible.

[Doesn't that sound tasty?]

Cecil, the staring continues for several long seconds, though he does raise an index finger and try to verbalize a few times.

... ... ...]

There are flan monsters. Edible flan monsters.

The monsters themselves are not edible. Only the pudding they produce.

[Do not eat monsters. Monsters are not tasty.]

They're often a pain to fight, especially the Flan Princesses. Those would give any warrior nightmares.

...Okay, but are they literally royalty, or is that just an ironic name?

Because now you have me picturing wiggling blobs with pretty tiaras.

...They've no tiaras, but their strength and commanding presence is nearly unmatched among monsters. With a single samba, they can drive opponents into a terrible frenzy. Their weaker cousins would surely obey their every order, if they ever met.

[A beat.]

You should picture them bright pink, for the record.
