[He'd read up on eevees. He'd done a lot of reading. He'd looked into all the different evolutions and had set his sights on trying to turn Gongaga into a Jolteon. It just seemed like a good route to go.

Cloud would have accomplished this were it not for the fact that his little eevee had grown extremely attached to him...and then learned a fairy move when it leveled up next.

Cue a slightly irritated blonde coming over the network holding a rather pleased looking Sylveon in the crook of one arm, the fairy-type's fleshy tendrils wrapped around Cloud's arm as it nuzzles against him.]

...I have a feeling this evolution is suppose to be cute but it's kind of unnerving.

[Gongaga chirps happily at him, peering up at him with absolute adoration in it's eyes.]

There's no way to change him back, is there?

[He knows the answer but a part of him is holding out hope, okay.]

[ Come on, it isn't all that bad... is it? Rosa's seen her fair share of strange Pokemon since her arrival but nothing like this one. It's only when she leans in to get a better look over the PokeGear does she notice all of the feelers that a part of the Pokemon itself, having mistaken them for ribbon at first. ]

Change him back? [ That doesn't seem possible but if it is, it'd be good to know. Caine may grow a bit too large for her in the future. ]

Why not adopt a companion for him and try again?

[ See, problem solved. Mostly. It does nothing for his current situation but there's no helping it now. ]

[The fleshy..bow-ribbon things are the creepiest part okay. And it won't stop latching onto him with them.]

Because I really didn't want him to turn into this.

[Exasperation is heavy in his voice but he glances down at the Sylveon and it's clear that he's not about to get rid of it or anything.]

I guess I could try to get another eevee.

[Hopefully it's not as clingy and loving as this one is.]

[ Aww... but won't he love his Pokemon no matter the form it takes? ] Some Pokemon are a little too headstrong to instruct in their evolution. Perhaps he felt this was the path he could best protect you with?

[ Really, it's hard to comfort someone when they're disappointed over something they couldn't control. ]

May I ask how this evolution came about?

[Gongaga squirms a bit in Cloud's arm, chirping at Basch merrily. The blonde still looks wary of it but it's definitely still the same creature..]

I don't even know what this is.

But Gongaga seems to enjoy it. So much so that he reaches out with his tendrils to try and grab the pokedex, churring happily.]

Huh. Wonder what causes them to change in the first place. Some sort of natural evolution but sped up? [Snake wasn't into all the science behind it but it seemed useful. A tactical advantage on the battlefield.]

I'm guessing this evolution makes them stronger?

[Gongaga twills happily, ears perked as he squrims around and manages to get up onto Cloud's shoulder despite the blonde's protests, barely managing to balance there thanks to his size.]

Ah-hah...no, evolution is more like growing older than a transformation. And you get used to the, uh, ribbons after a while.

[Mostly out of necessity, but hey! An Eevee perched on Al's shoulder looks at at the camera, then chirps his own greeting to his brethren. Hello!]

[Gongaga's ears perk at the chirp and he let's out one of his own, squirming around a bit in Cloud's arm. Hello friend!]

Awwwww man...You can't say that in front of him when he's looking at you like that.

[He can see that look in that pokemon's eyes. While yes, it's ribbons are a little odd, it's fucking precious and look at all that love it's got. He wants one.] Open your heart up a little more. When you've got that kind of love backing you, it's kind of scary what it'll be capable of if it's protecting you.
