Hello there everyone, my name is Pamela Isley.

I arrived yesterday and I have been doing some reading. It appears there is a whole sub division of these creatures based on plant life. Referred to as 'Grass', I believe? I'm not entirely sure how accurate is it to name a whole diverse sub species after Poaceae but I am a little out of my element here.

Anyway, I would be very interested in collecting some information on this specific type. If you have one of the vast array of specimens that fall into this 'Grass typing' please tell me about them. Also, if anyone would be kind enough let me know where I could find some for myself that would be very helpful.

Ivy is sat in the grass, watching her newly caught Hoppip dance and spin around with a bunch of its fellows. She scribbles notes furiously in her book with her brow furrowed in thought, her Bulbasaur watching her with keen interest.

Occasionally, she pulls out her PokeGear to look at something, or consults the book she has laid out beside her.

Have you noticed any difference between those you have intentionally gathered and those that have just appeared?

Not in particular. Their personalities all vary widely regardless, the only possible difference is that those hatching from eggs received from other trainers and breeders sometimes know more moves at the start than otherwise.

I've seen mentioned about eggs and alternate colours, do you know anything about this?

Ah, yes, sometimes eggs received from whatever mysterious benefactor gives them to everyone will hatch into pokemon with alternate or "shiny" coloration for their species. The same sometimes occurs with eggs from breeders where one of the parents is such, though we haven't been able to figure out if there's any way to tell what causes this, or whether it can happen otherwise.

Presumably, there may be wild ones with such alternate coloration, but since many people seem to value them for being "rare", they're naturally incredibly unlikely to come across. I don't think I've seen any in the wild in my time here.

People have always been interested in placing value in things that are deemed 'rare' so I suppose it would only make sense they'd be interested in collecting and hording those things.

Exactly. That, and in some cases, the coloring is so strikingly different from usual that I imagine those individuals are much easier to spot. Which would certainly make them easier targets.

*whether for trainers or for attacks from other pokemon; Sion suspects wild pokemon probably behave much more aggressively towards each other than trained ones...*

Well, that's not too surprising. Wild animals can often turn on those with significant colour variations, through isolation or aggression. [Which is why plants are so much better.]

Do you own many of these alternate versions?

A few, yes. At the moment I have... four, altogether.

Do you also possess their typically coloured counterpart?

Of one, yes.

How do they react to each other?

Well, they seem to get along just fine? Then again, Cloud--the one I had first--isn't particularly aggressive or anything in the first place...

May I ask what 'Cloud' is?

My furfrou--well, one of them, now. It's a type of pokemon that resembles a dog.

And it wasn't territorial? Or aggressive towards an abnormal looking member of its species?

[dreamsofahero]

Well, not exactly. I'd already had him for over two years, however, which means he's certainly used to being around all of the others. Not to mention, pokemon seem to often be rather more intelligent than animals of other worlds, especially once they've had time to learn things from their trainers, so I wouldn't expect one that's been trained for some time to behave in the same way a wild one would.

*which doesn't mean he's never had slight issues between members of his team before, just not in this case*

That, and as I said, Cloud has a particularly calm demeanor to begin with.
