Hello there everyone, my name is Pamela Isley.
I arrived yesterday and I have been doing some reading. It appears there is a whole sub division of these creatures based on plant life. Referred to as 'Grass', I believe? I'm not entirely sure how accurate is it to name a whole diverse sub species after Poaceae but I am a little out of my element here.
Anyway, I would be very interested in collecting some information on this specific type. If you have one of the vast array of specimens that fall into this 'Grass typing' please tell me about them. Also, if anyone would be kind enough let me know where I could find some for myself that would be very helpful.
Action [Route 29]
Ivy is sat in the grass, watching her newly caught Hoppip dance and spin around with a bunch of its fellows. She scribbles notes furiously in her book with her brow furrowed in thought, her Bulbasaur watching her with keen interest.
Occasionally, she pulls out her PokeGear to look at something, or consults the book she has laid out beside her.

In fact, it is where I caught my Oddish. I could tell you about that evolutionary line if you want. It's not a pure grass type though. It's poison / grass.
Text;
My Bulbasaur is the same so yes, I would be very interested in your Oddish's growth.

Bulbasaur's have buds and flowers coming from their backs, come to think of it. Oddish and it's line have flowers too. [ pause ] A lot of Grass-types have leaves or flowers coming off of their bodies in different ways, honestly.
voice;
So it's rather common for them? I have a Bulbasaur but you're the second person to mention Oddish. Is this a common grass type?
[video]
[Perhaps that's too generic for an introduction? She did say she's done some reading, after all.]
I can personally recommend the Chikorita, Petilil, Tangela, Lileep, Deerling, Chespin, Phantump and Budew lines. They've never disappointed me, and I know for a fact that they breed strong children.
[video]
So you're rather experienced with them? And you've bred them, can I ask what that entails?

Seedy was my first Pokemon. When we first met, he was a Sunkern, a small yellow seed with black stripes. He could not move much on his own at that time; I imagine that in the wild they are tended closely by their parents. He evolved when he was exposed to a Sun Stone. Now he is a Sunflora - very much like an ambulatory sunflower.
Wisp is the only one of the three who is not a pure Grass type. She is a Phantump, part-Ghost. She appears to be a black ghost inhabiting a small tree stump? I understand that she can evolve as well, but she has not yet.
Daisy is my newest Pokemon. She only hatched a few days ago. All Pokemon hatch from eggs, regardless of their appearance. She is a Gogoat, a species like a goat with leaves growing from around her neck. It seems her coloration is extremely rare for her kind. That happens sometimes, I hear, with these eggs that appear from nowhere.

Yes, others have mentioned the idea of 'pure Grass' typing. Though it seems in this instance 'pure' does not indicate a superiority.
All? How odd. Would you say most grass types appear to have plant life on them?

oh yeah! There's also a national park up past Goldenrod City that I think has some grass pokemon? But I think there's less there due to the bug pokemon that live there. So, uh, it depends on if you want to see some of the bug types too, I guess.

I have three grass types. This is Blume...
[Behold the majestic Ivysaur, who raises one paw and waves in a friendly fashion.]
This is Burrito...
[She has a small Lotad standing beside her, dwarfed by her bulk. It's shyer, and ducks behind one of Blume's massive legs.]
And this is Colossal Treetrunk!
[Jean's voice rises in delight as he spans his camera up, and up, and up, until it's focused on the Alolan Eggecutor's face. Faces. Whatever.]
video;
[Ivy stares at her screen for a moment, a mad glint in her eye. She must have one.] Well, aren't they just wonderful.

I've got a Tropius which is a big dinosaur with leaf wings and she grows bananas
and I've got a Carnivine which is a giant hovering venus flytrap who likes to sneak up on people when they least expect it, and I've never seen another one anywhere else
[text]
When you say wings, do you mean functioning or for display purposes?
Interesting. May I ask how you came in possession of one?

Safari Zone's got a decent selection, too- that's down in Cianwood. But honestly, grass types in general are really easy to come by. Not as common as water and normal types, but they're up for.
As for specifics... I could always show you over video. Might be a bit more informative.

I'm glad to here I won't be hard pressed in building up a collection.
I would be very interested in seeing them. Images on information pages aren't always the best.

If you're curious about grass-types, I do have one...
[The camera shifts from her to the pokemon to her right - an Abomasnow, letting out a curious huff as it leans curiously toward the camera.]
He doesn't quite look like a plant at first glance, and his primary type is ice, but he's definitely part grass as well.

[Ivy looks reasonably impressed.]

I'm afraid I don't have any Grass types myself, but my friend Jade has a lot! They're defensively weak against Ice, Fire, Bug, Flying, and Poison type attacks and resist Electric, Water, Ground, and other Grass attacks. But they're offensively strong against Water, Ground, and Rock type Pokemon. And a lot of them are dual-typed, so that will affect their defenses too.
There's a few available on the early routes, but once you reach the Ilex Forest there's a LOT of them.
[text]
It seems Grass is one of the more abundant types, though not the most. That seems to be a type referred to as 'normal'.

or I mean, like, DON'T, but taxonomy here is really weird.
I don't have any grass types myself but the people I live with have a bunch. Most of them are pretty relaxed,
which I guess makes sense given the whole photosynthesis thing
[Text]
So it's confirmed that Grass Pokemon perform photosynthesis?
