[ The 'gear flips on for whoever might be paying attention. In view is a young lady with blonde hair and gold eyes holding the camera out in front of herself Selfie Style with a big grin. She isn't familiar but she already seems... Pretty settled and HAPPY TO BE HERE. ]

Ciao~!! I hope everyone is having a looooo~ooovely day! Your newest resident is here!! It's been a couple days and a loooong boat ride but Mari is here~!

I didn't wanna say hi until I got settled in with my new friend-- [ She pans the camera over her shoulder to a Staryu doing what appears to be a half-assed cartwheel behind her. ] Say hi, Spinel! Time for your close-up!

We're so happy to be here. I can't wait to tell my friends back home about all the cute animals I'm supposed to be looking after. [ Animals, yes. Also, she seems okay and not having a panic attack?? That's good. ]

We're gonna be heading out soon to do some exploring. If anyone has any tips or knows the cutest critters, let me know what to look out for~

Well, I wouldn't want to jump to any conclusions, you know.

Not to mention, there's quite a few pokemon that start out small and cute, but grow much larger later.

[Ford is always excited to see new arrivals who are also excited. Not that he can't also address the whole 'I'm in a new and unfamiliar place and I don't know how I got here and I'm scared' angle, since that was his life for thirty years, but since it was his life for thirty years he's kind of past it and on into just taking things as they come. There's so much to do in this world that it seems the best thing to just get right into doing it, particular when as unfamiliar worlds go it's one of the nicest to fall into accidentally. For goodness' sake, all new arrivals get legal identification and a welcome basket!]

I believe 'cutest' might be somewhat subjective. But in terms of general tips... purchase a cookbook. One of simple recipes that you can make while camping, because that is something you are going to wind up doing often.

[Can he be said to have a favorite? Beheeyem is probably the right answer since his Elgyem was his starter, but there's others he finds just as fascinating for their own equally compelling reasons...

Alright. No. He knows the answer. Logically weighing everything, he absolutely knows the answer. He plucks one of the pokéballs from the strap across his chest. It grows to full size, and out pops a Sigilyph.]

I wouldn't call it cute exactly, but there is a lot about it that I find charming. It's an ancient creature that used to fill the role of a sentry, so its movements are locked into specific patterns.

I've long thought Cleffa and their evolutions are darling. And many people are fond of the cat and puppy Pokemon. Skitty is often held as the cutest of the cat Pokemon, but I beg to differ.

Well, it's subjective, isn't it? I think Spheals are precious, but plenty think they're boring and too big to be cute.

No, this is Mehitabel, she's an Espurr. A very young one, I can't tell her and her brothers apart so she wears bows and the handsome young gentlemen wear ties.

[Did someone ask for cute?

Instead of Newt responding to the video it's several of his younger Pokemon companions who had been messing around with their trainer's 'gear and, well, the enthusiasm drew their attention.

Poly the Sylveon, the one who turned the 'gear on in the first place, is striking a pose for the enthusiastic girl, ribbons flicking about as she proudly shows off how cute she is. Oswald the Alola-pix is peering around Poly, the shiny little thing rather shy but he can't help but want to see this person. The third member of the watch party is Lady the Lillipup who is currently sporting a few members of The Colony on her head.

[ Instead of responding like a normal human, Newt is going to receive a SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAL in reply that shakes up the camera and sends Spinel into another cartwheel. ]

[The squeal not only sends Oswald fleeing but it gets Poly and Lady yipping and barking in delight.

And finally draws their trainer over.]

[Newt comes into view as he picks the 'gear up, the wizard looking tousled, as always, with Niffler on his shoulder. His Sylveon gives an indignant yip and a pink and white paw comes into view as she tries to grab the 'gear.

HER AUDIENCE, NEWT.]

Oh, ah--hello.

[ The gear flicks on and it seems there's a minor fight going on. Potya, the Glameow was seen briefly before a Lopunny, Devanna was picking it up and turning it onto herself and Vesna the Floette and her petal-less flower. No no look at them!

Then Potya's shoving her face up in between them again, the gear getting knocked aside. Soon, an Ariados is standing over it, prodding it gently with a long leg. Chur makes a soft noise to attract Yuri who finally salvages the gear. ]

What are you even doing?! Hey, down, DOWN. Let me see. Ugh, she said she wanted to see cute Pokemon, not badass Pokemon so I guess you're all disqualified.

[ And then rabble roused around him as he holds his gear up over his head to keep them from grabbing it. It gave a nice view of the top of his head where three little Joltik were hiding, waving their little legs up at the gear. ]

[ Irritating for their trainers or not, Pokemon that have been scuttling to the cameras or bickering for attention are giving Mari the time of her life. When the top of the man's head and the little bugs appear to flail their legs all friendly-like at the camera, Mari sucks her lips in past her teeth to stifle a giggle. ]

Mm! It's okay~ I think they're all beautiful if you don't want me to say cute...!

The three Joltik make little distressed sparks when Yuri brings the gear back down, flicking his hair out of hia face with a head toss.

Well, what's your definition of cute, exactly? Because it's different for everyone. I think Bean's pretty cute--

[Noctis, who had been grinning at the 'gear, lifts it over his head now so he can tilt it up towards a massive Snorlax standing behind him. She's wearing a yellow winter hat with a puff-ball on the top and lifts a massive paw to wave.]

Or there's me! Me, I'm cute!

[That gets Noctis laughing and there's a moment of the video going crazy as he ducks under the weight of Carbuncle the shiny Espeon on his head. The happy go-lucky Pokemon twills in delight, flicking his twin tails as he makes happy paws on Noct's head.]

[ Mari claps her free hand behind her wrist which jostles the 'gear a little. She's so happy that so many Pokemon want to put on a show for her. She giggles-- ]

They're perfect! Loving the big one's hat and the color of the other one~

[WOAH THIS GIRL IS A LOT. Anna is sad that she's decided to start off in Kanto, because if they were close by, she'd absolutely want to be friends with this girl. She's even more sunny and cheerful than Anna herself, and that's saying something.]

[Cute isn't really his strong point, as evident by the Charizard chilling in the background. Really, most of Riku's team is centered around the cool factor more than anything else. Big, intimidating, powerful...

Still, cute... isn't impossible to figure out. He's seen enough 'mons to toss out a few suggestions.]

Well, I think just about anything with the fairy type's got you covered. Togekiss, Clefable, Azumarill, Sylveon... Actually, any form of Eevee would probably be right up your alley.

Swablu's one of the cuter dragon types, but there's also Dragonite, if you want something big and... huggable, I guess?

[He'd show his Dragonite, but Draco's more aggressive than the average member of his species.]

If you like foxes, there's always the Vulpix and Fennekin lines. Both evolve into something more beautiful than cute, but hey. Maybe that's still your cup of tea.

The book doesn't say much about Fairy Pokemon! I was starting to get attached to the fish ones buuuut if there are actual fairies...
