The Eve's Garden Circus has been a constant in Goldenrod for four years, now. It's brilliantly colored Big Top can be seen even from down the street, and it makes a fine marker for anyone flying in. Past its ticket booth guarded gates lie rows of game stalls, food alleys with heavenly smells, and various set ups from local shops or craftsman with everything from face painting to handmade goods available. While it's often been open, with the main shows playing on weekends, this month it's been especially ramping up to welcome spring.

So come in, enjoy some food, watch a show, and relax!




♤ Flight Service

Before the handy days of teleportation, the Circus offered its own Fly service to help people get to the Circus with a one-way ticket, or a return one to get right back to where they came from! Needless to say, these days, there's not much use for it.... However, some still prefer a more scenic view coming into Goldenrod, or they just want to get a nice view of the city before coming down for a little bit. Either way, various Flying types, courtesy of Falkner, are available for anyone, for a small fee.





♤ Gamer's Alley

It wouldn't be a circus if there weren't any games, would it...?

And boy, are there a bunch of them in this corner of the circus, all of them with their own various prizes to win from simple "magic" wanders to stuffed toys bigger then most people. There's something for everyone, from simple balloon popping to corkgun aiming to picking a floating toy Ducklett with a potential lucky number on the bottom. Heck, pick up a hammer and test your strength!

With everything being metaphorically and literally fun and games, feel free to try some a game or five! And only a couple of them are rigged. Just be careful not to cheat... Among Joker's personal 'troupe' of Pokemon are more than a few Psychic types, and they'll quietly alert stall owners if they think someone is cheating with either skill or Pokemon of their own.

Along with the usual games, however, there are also plenty of other things which are more of an experience than anything. A carousel with all sorts of Pokemon, known and Legendary alike, is available for a simple little ride for children, and people who like getting dizzy. There's also a funhouse of a maze available for people to wander and get lost through, with mirror mazes and moving floors galore.





♤ Circus Food

Now what could be called the best part of the circus.

For those who love the classics, don't worry. The scent of buttery popcorn fills the air, and one rarely needs to go far before stumbling onto someone selling cotton candy. Want a hot dog? There's plenty. Want to try something fried that should never be fried? Yeah, don't worry, there's those, too.

It's not all wildly unhealthy food, however. Welcoming in spring means that there's a lot of seasonal foods being sold as well, some more light than the heavier junk food that's about. Sakura mochi seems to be a pretty popular thing that's being sold at more than a few stalls... Sakura is in a lot of things, actually, from desserts to... lattes? There's also a lot of fresh strawberries from certain stalls, some dipped in delicious things like chocolate and others plain. There are also simple things such as chicken and corn on sticks, and other things.

There's something for everyone, so make sure to dig in and enjoy yourself!





♤ Shopping Stalls

For all that they're definitely the draw of the circus, delicious food and fun games aren't the only things it has to offer. Eve's Garden Circus likes to think of itself as a place where various small creators can promote themselves. Who knows- if you run a business, perhaps you've been invited to set up shop!

Either way, there are all sorts of things on sale to welcome in the new year. Some are artists, offering drawings of trainers and-or their Pokemon, or to paint their face with something. Others offer much more physical goods: blankets with various Pokemon patterns, homemade plushes of just about every Grass and Bug type you can imagine...

And did you know that flower crowns are in right now? Oh, sure, floral accessories seem to be a constant in general, whether those are simple earrings or pressed flowers made into light glass bowties. But it's really the flower crows that are a hit, and anyone venturing in will find plenty of people trying to sell them. Hey, it's spring. Why not give it a go?





♤ Showtime

What really makes a circus aren't the games, or the food, or anything else... but the show lying behind the flaps of the Big Top. There, people will get to see all sorts of dazzling things, from a certain daring young woman performing daredevil tricks on her steed, to a pair of 'siblings' doing an amazing trapeze act high up in the air. Should that small child be allowed around throwing knives? Don't worry about it.

It's not only humans who are taking part of the act, either! All of Joker's troupe have a part to play, whether that's the Charizard zooming high speed in the air, or a shiny Zoroark creating amazing illusions to take people's breath away.

Sit back, and enjoy the show. Plenty of applause is more than welcome when the finale hits, as various flowers float throughout the air.

...Just don't try to follow the performers, Pokemon or otherwise, through the backdoors to the staff area. They'll kick you out if they find you, which they will sooner than later. This is a place for rest, drinks and snacks and all, and it's employees only.





♤ Welcoming Spring!

To celebrate the warmer weather coming back... All trainers who enter with a grass type Pokemon in their team will get a discount! But that's not all... Those very same trainers will be given a shimmering rainbow ribbon, which their grass type Pokemon is encouraged to hold onto. (Only one per team, Ivy.) They, and any other trainers who come through, will be told of a game that's being played...

Capture the ribbons!

The name of the game is getting other ribbons from other people in the carnival, whether through cunning, battle, or just asking nicely, if that's your thing. Trade in your ribbons for fantastic prizes!

Not only that.... but Joker's own Pokemon are taking part in the festivities! For anyone who manages to nab one of the special ribbons for the ringleader's own, they'll find a special prize for those...

Here's the list of things that can be exchanged for the ribbons!

1 ribbon: A candy Pokeball
5 ribbons: A marble Bulbasaur succulent holder! Succulent included.
10 ribbons: A backpack shaped like a Bulbasaur's bulb! Very sturdy.
20 ribbons: A life-sized Serperior plush. Yes, the full ten feet. It is fortunately not 139 pounds, although the amount of sturdy stuffing in it sure must be impressive.

For those who capture one of Joker's pokemon and their ribbons, they get the honor of being allowed to choose two different TMs from the Department Store, and the Circus will happily foot the bill! But only two.

So go out, celebrate spring, and have fun!

A - Food

Fair style food is terribly unhealthy, but Lust doesn't care. She loves it. And god knows she needs all of those carbohydrates, with performing. Which is why she can be found, when not flying through the air under the big top, parked at a table by the food stalls. Wearing an off the shoulder, cut off black T-shirt and wrap around dancer's skirt over her acrobat leotard, she has a veritable feast of the most fried, breaded, and buttered fare available. Fried sausages on a stick with cheese sauce, fried pickles, thick cut fries topped with chili and cheese, buttered roast corn, a waffle cup full of fried wings...

And of course, there are the deserts.

This...this can't all be for just one person, can it?

B - Games

As always, Lust likes to watch the games. She doesn't often play them herself, but she enjoys watching others try. And unlike traditional carnival style games, these aren't all unfairly rigged against the guests. Plenty of people walk away with prizes. It's pleasant, seeing how excited people get over such simple things.

Though she has to admit, the mirror maze is rather tempting...

C - Staff Area

The big spring debut always takes a great deal out of everyone. Lust is no exception. Between performances and enjoying the festivities, she's taking advantage of the staff only area to decompress and stay hydrated and take some time with her Pokemon. Guttle and Gilda, of course, are with her...but she's brought her littlest Espurr, as well.

She can be found on the floor, playing with her Espurr while the seals rest by her.

[It's not really Jane playing the games - it's Dinah, but Jane is supervising her Pokemon while the Audino drags Dart the Bisharp around and tries and fails, quite hilariously, to win anything, but by gum she is a plucky little thing. Nearby, Lust can hear Jane's signature laugh as Dinah finally manages to net one of the toy Duckletts.]

Hoo hoo hoo! Very good, Dinah - I guess the old adage of perseverance paying off really is true!

[There's a small prize indicator on the bottom of the Ducklett, but Dinah doesn't seem interested in any of those - instead, she takes the actual Ducklett and gives it to Bisharp. Oh...even the stall runner looks amused...]

[Well there's a pair of familiar faces. Lust moves from her vantage point and heads over to where Jane and her Audino are playing one of the carnival games.]

She seems to be getting the hang of this...

[Chuckling as she draws near enough to witness Dinah's actions.]

[Dinah chirps a greeting, pointing to Dart as he tries to sneak the Ducklett toy back into the pond to exchange it for a prize. The stall runner is trying very hard not to laugh audibly.]

It only took her ten tries, but she finally got what she wanted. I don't suppose I'd be better off ordering those things in bulk for myself, would I?

Hello. She certainly did. I remember a summer or two ago...I can't even remember which festival. Timothy won me a stuffed prize at one of these sorts of games. A little stuffed Eevee, I still have it. It's a time honored tradition.

[Lust tips her chin approvingly in Dinah's direction. Though the Pokemon has a very unique approach to it.]

[Dart returns with a tiny plush Pokeball, the kind that's on a keychain hook, and gives it to Dinah. She looks at it in puzzlement. What's this for?]

A - oh, oooh, I see what you mean. [She smiles a little mischievously.] I am honestly not sure if her actual plan is to woo him or befriend him, but she keeps trying, so that must be worth something.

Either way, she's set her heart to it. The poor fellow may as well just give in now, she's not going to give up. I know how these things go.

[She'd worn Scar down, after all. She knows that determination.]

[Dinah is now trying to "capture" Dart in the Pokeball by pressing it into his shoulder. He looks as exasperated as a creature without obvious facial expressions can be.]

Oh, no question about it, it's adorable to watch. And perhaps he doesn't hate it, if he keeps going along with her, so that's really the one thing that keeps me from separating them - it doesn't result in full-on fights.

No, if it truly bothered him, he'd let her know. It could simply be how he flirts - some of us just don't know how to properly express our feelings.

[Another thing she's well familiar with. Pokemon aren't really that much different from people, when it comes down to it. Their habits and ways of thinking and communicating may be different, but Lust is rather certain the feelings are all the same.]

Honestly, they rather remind me of me and my husband, before we were properly courting. I drove him mad, I wouldn't leave him alone, but...he never actually told me to leave him alone, and he always answered when I called. Even if I could feel the irritation coming off of him. They'll figure it all out.

Oh my...should I be concerned about...eggs, then? If they do figure it out?

[They're not even in remotely the same egg groups Jane you're okay]

I don't think you have to worry about that! And if you did have to...not for some time, I'm sure.

[She can't help but laugh. She doesn't know much about how breeding works, but she imagines it highly unlikely the two are compatible. Of course she's been surprised before.]

Have you found yourself surprised by any eggs, yet? It happens to some people with alarming regularity. I've only had it happen once. And the eggs weren't even mine.

Even if I did, it seems like egg surprises are a very common thing here...you can't blame me for worrying!

[Seriously, sometimes folks end up with more egg-raised Pokemon than caught ones!]

But no, nothing yet. I guess I ought to count myself lucky.

No, you're very right about that. I'm honestly amazed it took this long for it to happen to me. I do have males and females of the same types. Then again, I think it happens to breeders more often than it does trainers. I can't imagine being a breeder.

[Lust shakes her head, grimacing slightly.]

I can barely keep track of which types are compatible among my own teams, the amount of sheer knowledge they need to have. Not to mention maintaining records and lineages and matching compatible inheritance traits...

[Lust looks up from her feeding, polite enough to wipe her mouth with a handful of paper napkins, now that she has company.]

We've been doing it for years, now. Many of our old life skills aren't terribly applicable to employment, but we found our niche here at the circus. Please, sit down.

I'm glad to hear that. Finding something that you're good at and enjoy is always difficult.

You've no idea. I hadn't any traditional work experience before I came here. Most of my education was in a very specific branch of science that doesn't exist here, or areas one can't make a living at."

Not in any way she'd want to, anyway. Lust has no idea what Johto's Red Light landscape is, and she's perfectly happy never knowing.

"I lived off of wealthy friends for months. I had a monthly allotment from a friend, and Greed always paid for everything when we were together, he liked showing off that he had money. We were travel companions, before we bought the house."

Harry nods, taking a sip of coffee.

"But now you've found something. And a good hobby with that radio program of yours. Also owning a house. I've mostly lived in apartments after I moved out of my mothers house. It's strange but nice living in one again."

"Where else would I live? I'm not the sort that can spend all their time traveling, a house is just logical. I don't think I'd be happy, in an apartment. They seem so small. I prefer the house, with room for the family. I couldn't live on my own."

Which is why she's so glad Henry, at least, is near as permanent a fixture as she is. Envy and Heather and Wrath all come and go, sometimes going for months and months at a time.

And of course now there's Mr. Mason.

"I promise we'll get you set up more comfortably soon, winter's simply a terrible time to begin home renovations."

"Apartments aren't that bad. And you don't have to be alone in them. Jodie and I lived in one before we found Cher- Heather. And then Heather and I lived in ....well quite a few. Some were better then others but we made it as homelike as we could."

Well they tried, they both agree they've never really had a true home after that town. Not with the cult after them for so long.

"But it's nice to have a real home again. And it's a nice house. I don't mind waiting for renovations."

"They just seem like...boxes stacked together. I don't know, there's something claustrophobic about them, to me." Lust can't quite place her finger on it, she's never spent much time in any. It's all just a concept.

"Perhaps it has something to do with being brought up in a place of large spaces." Who knows?

"They're long overdue, really. We never expected so many, when we first bought it. The neighbors will likely complain about the construction, but really, if they're still here at this point, it's their own fault and they've lost all right to complain. They know what they live adjacent to."

"That might be it. Even growing up, the house I lived in was on the small side."

Right neighbours. Heather had mentioned something about them.

"People don't do construction here?"

"Oh they do. But our neighbors simply like to complain. They find us eccentric. The house wasn't even all boarded up for that long. Really...and Wrath knows which rubbish bins to leave alone. I think."

Really, if they'd just drop by for a cup of sugar or whatever neighbors did, they'd find a warm and welcoming and loving household. Simply a different sort. So what if it was a bit chaotic and macabre? Some people are. They're still a loving family who'd do anything for one another, and live their lives as makes them happy. Like everyone else.

"Oh, I'm well aware of that." Lust chuckles, and there's something dark and a touch cold about it. "People are the same everywhere, really. Everything's the same, at it's skeletal frame, in every world out there. The people, the things they do, the turning points in histories...line them up all together, and you'll see striking similarity after striking similarity."
