[The video clicks on to show a brightly smiling Hermione.]
Well, there's been a pleasant and much needed development.
I've just secured and moved into my own rental property. The real estate agent was reluctant to rent to someone so young but I had excellent references from Nurse Joy and the head Librarian at Goldenrod, plus I was able to produce all my recent payslips. The owners are a really nice couple who even threw in the furniture. It's small, rustic and outdated, but it's perfect for me and my pokemon. It sits on an acre, which is excellent, as now I can let all the pokemon roam instead of being stuck in their pokeballs or in the computer. It even has a little lake for my water pokemon and a barn which the owners said they're happy for me to use.
[She turns the camera to show off the cottage and land.]

It's just outside Goldenrod City, off route 34, so if you ever need a place to stop and rest, please feel free to drop in.

Hermione had just let the last of her pokemon out and explained to them that this was now their new home, encouraging them to go explore.
As she watched she felt a lump in her throat. She missed her friends and family. Getting her own place was a huge milestone, one that she'd achieved far earlier than anticipated, but she didn't have anyone to share the excitement with. She sighed, as she turned to fill food bowls for her pokemon. Renting a place meant permanency. Despite all her research and fact checking over the past three months, it seemed she was stuck here until something new was uncovered.
Cyto floated over to nuzzle her. 'It's okay Cyto, " she said smiling at the green plasma pokemon, hugging him back.
"I just wish... "
What did she wish? That she was back home? That she wasn't here with her pokemon any more? To go back to that point where dementors were giving her the kiss of death?
"....I miss my friends and family back home."

I meant to contact you and thank you for inviting me to the party the other week. I didn't get a chance to say it while I was there, but it was a wonderful party.
no subject
You and Credence seemed to really hit it off.
no subject
Oh, I um...yes, he's a really nice person, and we're from the same world, and have a lot in common, so I guess it's not surprising that we got along well?
no subject
Yes, our little Hellebore is a dear. I'm glad he's made a friend, he seemed so nervous at the prospect when I told him to go socialize at the event.
no subject
Hellebore? You nicknamed him after a plant? I hope not one of poisonous ones...
[Hermione gave a small smile.]
Yes, I can understand why the prospect of meeting new people would be daunting for him. But we had a really nice talk, and he's really a wonderful person once you get to know him. I'm glad you encouraged him to be social.
no subject
I'm not sure what it matters. People name their children 'Lily' constantly which are poisonous to consume.
Well, the party wasn't particularity crowded so I was confident he could handle the challenge. He's rather cautious and unsure, so he just needs a little push here and there.
no subject
I guess that's true, I just meant it was an unusual nickname. Can I ask what prompted it?
And yes he's similar to one of my friends back home in that respect. Worse, actually. But he opened up to me a little during our chat, so I hope he feels more comfortable talking to me now...
[Well after the awkward exchange when she kissed him on the cheek she wasn't so sure...]
no subject
You may, but are you actually interested?
[She lifts her finger like a teacher about to gently to correct a student.]
Credence is not 'worse' than anyone else. He simply is. While any progress he makes is an improvement, it does not mean he is 'worse' now. Credence has a tendency to take words, especially negative ones, to heart. You need to be selective.
[Pamela offers her a small smile.]
But I am confident he can grow and blossom under the right conditions. Like how you made him comfortable enough to speak at the party.
no subject
[Hermione had the good grace to blush, mortified. She hadn't meant it that way and she felt awful that it had come across negatively. That certainly wasn't her intention.]
I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it in that way. I should have used a unit of measure rather than a comparative state of being. I just meant that he was more nervous than a friend of mine, so I was familiar conversing with people like that. I would never intentionally hurt him. I'll make sure to be more mindful of my terminology.
[She felt terrible, looking down and biting her lip, trying not to cry.]
no subject
Now don't upset yourself. I'm not chastising you and I'm well aware you didn't mean anything ill towards Credence. I'm just guessing that you'd be very upset if you made Credence uncomfortable like that so I thought it best to help you avoid it. It's clear the way you reacted you didn't mean to speak poorly of him.
[She sees Hermione getting tearful and sighs, reminded of Harley's over emotional states.]
None of that, unless you want your nickname to be weeping willow. Trust me, if I was mad or upset with you, you would know. I'll give you a moment to calm yourself.
no subject
That's a really pretty way to describe his hair. I thought perhaps it was because he has a well of inner strength, and some hellebores are quite robust.
I...appreciate the reminder. Thank you, I know you're looking out for him. I honestly wouldn't want to do anything to unintentionally hurt Credence. He's one of the sweetest people I've ever met.
...you seem to like nicknaming people after plants - are you a horticulturalist?
don't mind Ivy slipping a bit of her plant nerd in there
Also that. See? There's many reasons. You just needed to think it through.
I know you wouldn't, dear. It seems the two of you are on your way to being fast friends.
[Ivy gives Hermione a knowing look before moving on.]
My field certainly covers horticulture but that term is more... 'human' minded than I like. It's very focused around cultivars. I prefer the term botanist.
My Doctrines are in Botany and Toxicology after all. So while I'm well versed in horticulture, because it falls under the larger net of botany, I wouldn't call myself exclusively a horticulturalist.
[Because it's more about plants serving human needs than the other way around. And while she's cultivating around here, the mindset itself is the opposite of her own.]
Hermione doesn't mind - it's not like she doesn't nerd out all the time haha
Human minded in that it focuses more on how humans can use plants?
Oh Credence did say you had a doctorate but didn't mention what it was in. That's fascinating - do you specialise in a particular area or plant species? And toxicology - that's the study of toxins and poisons?
no subject
Every and all. Including those off-world. [She pauses to elaborate.] Interstellar travel is not totally uncommon by any means around those I frequent.
But yes, I don't limit my focus to just one plant. I 'specialize' in them all. The enitely of Archaeplastida I would say. And Fungi, though most tend to include that with plants but they're a completely separate kingdom to Plantae.
no subject
[Hermione eyes widen at the talk of interstellar travel.]
Oh we haven't reached that phase yet. The furthest our technology has taken us is to the moon but only once. It must be fascinating learning about plants from different worlds.
I'm not familiar with Archaeplastida - could you elaborate?
no subject
It certainly stimulates your intellectual curiosity.
Barebones wise? Archaeplastida a major group under the domain Eukaryota and is has the kingdom a Plantae within it.
no subject
You're going to think me awfully uncultured but although I study Herbology at school, it most definitely doesn't go into the kind of detail and terminology you're addressing. I'd love to learn and understand more...?
[Hermione trails off, looking hopeful.]
no subject
Just try not to distract my hellebore too much when he's helping Newt, won't you?
[She's smiling playfully.]
no subject
Of course I wouldn't! I take my studying very seriously, and I wouldn't interrupt Credence while he's working. That would be completely irresponsible of me.
But I would love to learn from you. Are you usually around the cottage or do you travel a lot?
i forgot hermione didnt know XD
I live there, dear. Newt and I are in a relationship, so I'm staying at his residence.
[She supposes most would be upset her partner hadn't mentioned them but... No. She wasn't. What did it matter? Besides, that wasn't the sort of person Newt was.]
Did Credence forget to mention?
no subject
[Newt and Credence didn't mention that at all which surprised Hermione - she thought Newt would have mentioned something about Ivy while they were at the Ruins.]
No, he didn't say anything, though he might have thought it wasn't his place to.
no subject
[We don't talk about the Ruin's trip.]
Perhaps. He's sharing the house too though, with his own room of course, so I would have thought it came up during the conversation.
[She shrugs and tucks a lock of her red hair behind her ear.]
I'm afraid my boys find me rather forgettable most days. I suppose I don't leave much of an impression on them.
no subject
[A light blush spreads across her cheeks.]
Credence only really said Mr Scamander lets him stay at the cottage, and in return he helps with chores.
I'm sure that's not the case! You're a very interesting person, not easily forgotten...Maybe they've just been busy? Or didn't think it relevant to say anything?
no subject
[Her expression is knowing.]
You really don't need to come up with excuses for them, it's fine.
