GHOST TRICK PART ONE: Festival Log!

Who: Everyone!
Where: Either Ecruteak City or Lavender Town; please mark your toplevel comments accordingly!
When: August 13th-15th
Summary: Celebrate O-bon at a festival near you! For details, see the infopost.
Rating: Will vary from thread to thread. Warn for common triggers if something comes up.
Log:

The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening (August 15th) of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

The closer you get to midnight on the last night of the festival, the more ghosts pop up.

Again, please say which city your character's in and note what dates/times they're there in the header of or within your top--level comment to avoid confusion. Play nice and have fun!

[Snake found it really helpful that Kaz was with him during the festival. He was helping point out what everything was and what it meant. Without him Snake would have been wandering around aimlessly dressed ridiculously. Kaz had a nice Yukata at least.]

Want a game of Goldeen Scoop? I'm pretty good at fishing.

[Would Kaz be too?]

Nice choice of colour for your outfit too. The blue suits you.

Thanks.

[he lets out an amused huff.]

It's less like fishing than you'd think. Someone told me once it was all about patience and knowing how and when to strike. 'And quickly, when you do', they said. I only heard the last part, never caught a thing.

[read: I ripped through every single net going too fast or trying for multiple fish.]

Sure. I'm curious to see if this is easier or harder with fish that size.

[Snake shrugged. He just thought it would be easy like normal fishing. Easy, right? Not so now. Huh. Well, whatever it was he'll still be doing it, as he didn't really feel like letting a game beat him.]

How about you go first? Maybe you could give me some tips, huh?

[He offered Kaz a coy smile. What? He could learn something from a guy who grew up on a lot of fish. Whale didn't he say?]

[a snort, then sarcastically:]

Yeah, sure. Watch the master at work.

[and soon enough he's given a paper net of his very own, one that's at least four times the size of any of the ones he's ever seen, and twice as thick. when he sees what's swimming around in the water, he sees why. these fish are all around two feet long.]

[interesting.]

[but unlike the last time he played this, Kaz has the patience to wait for an opportunity, and it's nearly a minute and a half before he strikes. he has a fish, it's on the net, it's halfway out of the water--]

[--and the Goldeen thrashes violently, ripping the net wide open and throwing a good amount of water all over Kaz in one fell swoop.]

[Snake stood back to let Kaz have his go with the scoop. Couldn't be too hard, right? This guy would obviously be a pro....]

Huh.

[....or not. Damn. The fish was bigger than Snake had anticipated and had ripped the net. There went Kaz's catch. Looked like his sub commander was covered in water too. Oops. Snake suppressed a smirk and walked up to Kaz gazing back into the rippling water.]

Tough little bastards, aren't they? Guess it's my go now.

[Snake grabbed a scoop and readied himself. Even if he did make a fool of himself in front of Kaz, it wouldn't be bad, right? The old soldier grunted, as he spotted a movement underneath the calm water, striking to try and swipe the net from the right. He cornered the fish to the left side of the tank then felt it tug...]

Think I might have it....come on....

[Snake concentrated then used a quick wrist motion and swiped the net around it's tail end, pulling the net up in one. Result: one thrashing fish.]

Looks good enough to eat.
