GHOST TRICK PART ONE: Festival Log!

Log:

The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening (August 15th) of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

The closer you get to midnight on the last night of the festival, the more ghosts pop up.

Good thing I showed up when I did then.

[Even if he knew he was needed back home, despite whatever terrible things were waiting for him on the horizon, knowing they needed to be finished, that time couldn't stand still forever, he was still thankful that he could be here for Cloud. There was something different about Cloud that only ever seemed to come out around him, and he was honored to be the person who caused those reactions to happen.

Even if he was currently getting a blank stare.] Come on, Cloud, would getting up and dancing with me really be so bad?

[There's a definite hint of teasing there, just a little edge to try and prod Cloud along. Although he won't be too disappointed if he can't talk him into it. Sitting here enjoying the warmth of the fire and clear night was just as good.]

[Cloud makes a noise of agreement, not really sure how to put into words just how much having Zack here helps. A part of him still worries that he's going to wake up and it'll all have been a dream and Zack will be gone. Every morning he wakes up with that same fear but he's trying to break the habit.

One day at a time.

The blank look melts into something that could be considered flustered but it's Cloud so it just looks a bit angry, the blonde scoffing lightly as he shakes his head.]

I don't dance. It's not you--I just don't dance.

[It's not that he can't he's just..not as outgoing as Zack okay.]

[Thankfully, Zack isn't the least bit fazed by the reaction Cloud gives him.]

Well, maybe it's time you start.

[Angel stares up disapprovingly, getting the distinct feeling she's going to be forced to move long before she's actually ready. Stop trying to get the other human to dance with you.]

Come on Cloud, live a little. You might even have fun.

[Cloud frowns--it's actually a pout, let's be honest.]

I have plenty of fun.

[But he does sound a little bit like he may give in. Especially if Zack were to get up and actually make him get to his feet.

Are you pouting at him, Cloud Strife?

Him, Zack Fair, Master of the Puppy Dog Eyes?

And there you are, trying to use part of his own trick against him.]

Yeah? Hate to break it to you, but being a stick in the mud isn't the kind of fun I'm taking about.

[Scooping Angel up from her place upon his lap - and boy, does she let out a disgruntled howl in protest before glaring up at her human in disdain the moment her little paws touch the ground.]

Hey, don't look at me like that. Me and Cloud won't be gone long, and then you get dibs on my lap. Okay?

[The words seem to satisfy her, although she still looks more than a little peeved, even as she goes and curls up next to Strife. This should be fun to watch if nothing else.

Pushing himself upwards, hands brushing across the sides of his jeans to remove any dirt, before turning and offering one of them to Cloud.]

You're not gonna let me make a fool of myself alone, right?

[No. You're seeing things.

Shut up. ]

I'm not being a stick in the mud.

[A twill from Gongaga comes then and Cloud shoots the Sylveon a look, the pink canine thing looking quite pleased with himself as he prances around with an unenthused Chaos.]

No one asked you, brat.

[His attention returns to Zack as the other starts talking to Angel and--okay. Yep. Apparently this dancing thing is happening.

The blonde let's out a heavy sigh, staring at the other with a bit of a dry look before he reaches out to take the offered hand.]

Couldn't let that happen, could I?

[Make him.

Zack shoots Gongaga a little smile at his agreement, making a mental note to sneak the Slyveon a few extra berries in way of thanks.]

I didn't think so, but it's kind of hard to tell with you sometimes.

[Fingers clasping around Cloud's hand, he pulls softly, drawing the blond to his feet. Only he definitely doesn't let go, choosing instead to shift his hold so their fingers are intertwined, tugging Cloud towards the area where everyone else is already up and dancing.

You're going to have fun, chocobo. If it's the last thing he does.]
