GHOST TRICK PART ONE: Festival Log!

Who: Everyone!
Where: Either Ecruteak City or Lavender Town; please mark your toplevel comments accordingly!
When: August 13th-15th
Summary: Celebrate O-bon at a festival near you! For details, see the infopost.
Rating: Will vary from thread to thread. Warn for common triggers if something comes up.
Log:

The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening (August 15th) of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

The closer you get to midnight on the last night of the festival, the more ghosts pop up.

Again, please say which city your character's in and note what dates/times they're there in the header of or within your top--level comment to avoid confusion. Play nice and have fun!

Yeah, with costumes and everything!
cyan_maid: (A tiny longing)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2016-09-01 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Really?

[She looks a little unsure about the validity of that, but...]

How exactly does that work?
usedgravity: (Suddenly Ochako)

[personal profile] usedgravity 2016-09-02 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I mean, you have to take an exam and get licensed, but then you can be a pro-hero! The government pays you based on performance going out and doing things like catching criminals and rescuing people or helping out with disaster relief and the like.
cyan_maid: (Huh?! With blush)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2016-09-02 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I...see. So, it's sort of like being a civil servant?

I guess a little? But you're out in the public eye and a lot of the top heroes are basically celebrities, like All Might! So like, that's kind of why costumes come in, besides how they can have gear to enhance your Quirk and stuff - you want to appeal to the public.
cyan_maid: Jane is neutral or unsure (Um...)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2016-09-03 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I...see. I think. Is a Quirk like a special power?
usedgravity: (Suddenly Ochako)

[personal profile] usedgravity 2016-09-03 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, basically - where I come from, everyone has a Quirk, like breathing fire or super-strength... I can make things weightless! I mean, I could.
cyan_maid: (And I will leave the mustache on! :B)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2016-09-04 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh! That's a good power to have - you could carry a heavy backpack without any trouble! Among other things, of course.
usedgravity: (Infinitely Uraraka)

[personal profile] usedgravity 2016-09-05 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I could lift up to two tons! I mean, if the situation really called for it. I get kind of nauseous if I lift too much though - or myself.
cyan_maid: (Eheh...)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2016-09-05 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
That's still impressive! And, well, I assume you don't run into two-ton emergencies too often, right? And even if you did, you wouldn't have to handle them alone.
usedgravity: From chikyu21.tumblr.com (Undeniably Ochako)

[personal profile] usedgravity 2016-09-05 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's true. Heroes definitely try to work together!
cyan_maid: Jane and Lil' Sebastian (Hey Lil' Seb!)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2016-09-05 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you all get to choose your teammates?
usedgravity: (Top Ranked Ochako)

[personal profile] usedgravity 2016-09-06 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Sort of? I mean, a lot of heroes form teams or have sidekicks, but when an emergency pops up, you never know who's around - you gotta be able to work with whoever's on the scene!

[That was definitely a good point Deku pointed out]
cyan_maid: (Oooh lookie here)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2016-09-06 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
So it's more of a giant, interconnected system! How interesting...
usedgravity: From chikyu21.tumblr.com (Undeniably Ochako)

[personal profile] usedgravity 2016-09-07 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, there's lots of different teams and agencies, but they're all paid by the government and in the end, they all have the same goal of helping the citizens!
cyan_maid: (And I will leave the mustache on! :B)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2016-09-07 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
That's great! I'm glad to hear it - though it does still sound rather bizarre, if it works and people are happy and safe, then I certainly can't fault it, can I?
usedgravity: (The most Ochako)

[personal profile] usedgravity 2016-09-07 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I guess it probably does sound kinda weird if you come from a place where most people don't have powers... but I think it's pretty cool!
cyan_maid: (Smiling backpacker)

[personal profile] cyan_maid 2016-09-07 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jane smiles sheepishly.] Then that's the most important thing, isn't it? After all, it's your home!
usedgravity: From chikyu21.tumblr.com (Undeniably Ochako)

[personal profile] usedgravity 2016-09-08 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah! It was, well... really inspiring, seeing so many people out there, doing their best for peace and justice and helping other people!

[Well, and fame and fortune, but hey, they still did good deeds.]
