Hello. Primarily, it is to communicate with other people not native to Johto. Many of us are traveling, or in different cities, and it is good to keep in touch.

That is sensible, Mr. Blaiddyd. But must such communication be done in public?

I suppose not. Yet some people like that level of community. When they are traveling alone for long stretches of time on routes or through caverns, it can make a soul less alone.

We are all strangers to this land. While we may not all come from the same place, that much is something we have in common. Remembering that is reassuring.

I do not mind the quiet. It is difficult, relating to others, though one must try.

As far as I know, it was set up for us Otherworlders to communicate. I imagine they must have thought that we'd have plenty to talk about considering our shared experience.

Who are 'they'?

The people who set up this network, which I assume is the Pokemon League as they seem to organise everything here.

This would include the Gym Leaders, correct?

In theory, it would seem to be for simple communication. In practice, it's the only thing keeping some people from perishing from a lack of being able to put their nose in everyone else's business.

I do not understand. What is it about someone else's life that has such appeal? Could they not simply live their own?

I'm convinced it's pathological, and incurable. Some people think that they know the best for everyone and are incapable of stopping themselves from trying to meddle in everyone else's lives.

It's bad enough without this device displaying everyone's words any time of the day or night. One has to wonder when these people sleep.

[Maybe Claude doesn't. Maybe he exists off of a diet of other people's problems and his own egotism.]

Perhaps by involving themselves with the lives of others, it serves to distract those others from looking more closely at them in return.

it's still kind of weird for me to use it because there was never anything like it back home, but it's been a year so i'm more used to it than i was

There were computers where I am from, but they were not as small as these.
