so i've got a question for those of you who are from a different world than this one. which is everyone who uses this network, from what I've been told, so I guess that's superfluous.
long story short: we lose our powers here. everyone knows that. we lose anything obviously inhuman here. everyone knows that, too.
has that involved losing limbs for anyone else? how do you deal with that? i feel like i need some kind of amputee support group, only since i'm not actually missing any expected human body parts i suspect they'd kick me out.

and honestly it is NEWS TO ME that some people here were not human
but I lost my arm like a year or so ago now
back home, it didn't have anything to do with any of this
don't have a support group or anything, especially here, but it sucks, man

i'm personally not one of the non-human people, ftr. but some people in the world i come from have mutations that aren't exactly human-standard, and i'm one of them. i had wings when i got here, and they lasted the weekend, and now they're just...gone. like i never had them.
i don't even have a word for how weird it is.

That's
like at least when I lost the arm, people knew I lost it, you know?
I can't imagine if everyone just acted like nothing happened
no subject
that said, sympathy from other people isn't really a big concern for me right now. just, y'know, trying to deal with the weird feelings of them not being there.
like, i'm lying on my back right now. i haven't laid on my back in my entire life.

If you've got more than the basic pair of arms and legs, then yeah. Those are gone. Any nonhuman traits get scrubbed away, other than maybe pointed ears and sharp teeth or a strange eye color.
I'd say nonhumans get hit the hardest with this. Had a few friends who were talking ponies a while back.

i'm mostly asking how people deal with that. i'm guessing it's really weird for those who aren't human or have completely different bodies to essentially get stuffed into human suits, but i'm practically having phantom limb syndrome over here. so i was looking for people who've totally lost parts of their body they're accustomed to having in particular.

If Twilight or Applejack were here still, I bet they'd have all kinds of stories. Still, I wonder if making some kinda prosthetics would help? Even if it's just cosmetic, it might bring at least some familiarity.
Maybe. I'm no doctor. Definitely not a psychologist, either.

OH MY GOSH, ARE YOU OKAY?!
DO YOU NEED HELP??
Where are you? I can try to get there
Or arrange for someone to get you right away...
no subject
but wings do count as limbs if they're yours, right?
idk if you want their 4th wall to count as "fuzzy memories" or no??
I got really worried...
But I guess you're right. Are you like a bird, then?
Apparently there are a few people there that were animals before coming here.
I got a cute egg from a really nice girl who used to be a bird!!
[And after a moment, Ochako will realize how that sounds.]
A **POKEMON** EGG!!!
Entirely up to you! I forgot about that aspect tbh, I'm used to the TDMs
I'm fine either way but let's say not this time (cuz i got overwhelmed and had to drop threads weh)

[Which is to say that Hawks is having all kinds of feelings he doesn't know what to do with at the thought of prosthetic wings. It obviously wouldn't be the same - not by a long shot. The question is, could such prosthetics offer him anything worth having?]
they'd be purely aesthetic, i'm assuming. [Back home, he supposes something very loosely like his wings could be made as a support item; it might even have working wings, or launchable feathers. Neither would be remotely up to par with what his quirk could do, but it'd be better than nothing. But that would be if a premiere support item company were to make something top of the line, and it'd be a tough order even then. He doubts one friendly artist could even come close to that.]

And of course, if you are not willing to entertain this notion in the first place, I will accept that without question. I understand how it is difficult to make such a choice.

[ Because loss of limbs sounds... morbid, but she's assuming they're fine if they're texting here. ]

[ Yeah, those would count as limbs, wouldn't they? ]
I can't imagine how that must feel... my friend was shaken enough that they didn't have their own power, and it didn't involve any extra limbs...

the thing is, i used to have more than that. i had wings. and now i don't.

i've always just been a regular boring human, but you're definitely not alone here so you're reaching out in the right digital space. i'd be surprised if someone hasn't formed some kind of support group for people who got altered upon arriving here

Looks like he's opening up that text field anyway, oops. ]
I see no one answered with a similar experience, and mine is not quite the same as yours. But I also appear human, and was considered human back home, but had an extra...I suppose you could call it a 'mutation' as you described yours above to someone else.
Mine gave me an extra sense. I knew I relied on it before I arrived here, but to no longer have access to it is more disorienting than I anticipated. [ He'd definitely gotten used to effectively seeing through walls and sensing people coming close to him for the past...seven years. ]
No missing non-human limbs, though. Just the powers that the being I used to house granted. [ If he's inadvertently making it sound like he used to be possessed, that's...not horribly far from the truth? ]
no subject
[Other people might at least bat an eye at Risotto's mention of 'housing a being', but Hawks doesn't. After all, hadn't he taken on Tokoyami as an intern? His situation wasn't that dissimilar to what this guy is describing...in fact, this guy talks a bit like Tokoyami does.]

[ He is way, way less sure what to do with the compassionate part of the response. He spends way too much time trying to figure out how to respond to it himself and settles on the driest thing possible that still is not remotely a lie.] Thank you. I don't envy you needing to also learn how to exist without yours. [ At least Risotto looks the same to himself in a mirror, here...
But this person...definitely takes all this in stride. It occurs to Risotto as to whether or not-- well, maybe he'll actually ask. ] Where I come from, these senses and abilities varied from person to person. Was it that way for you, as well?

anyway, no point in starting one before asking if one already exists. but if one doesn't, and it's starting to look like that's the case, that's not a bad idea. not sure i'm the guy to run it, though.
your username seems familiar. [Hawks hasn't paid a lot of attention to individual students, but your name has been in the news a lot for various reasons, Bakugou. Kamino primary among them. Hawks is trying to place it, but give him a second.]
no subject
Organizing shit doesn't mean leading shit either. For all you know you could put it together and then a more qualified person to lead comes along.
[ Your username seems familiar. Well THAT isn't suspect at all now is it? Gee. It's not like he's made headlines or anything, right? For primarily being kidnapped but hey. But unlike Round Face, Bakugou isn't going to be using his selected hero name. Not until a certain person hears it first. ]
There's probably some reason it looks familiar. It is a name.
