Summary: Sandalphon, while (almost) having no idea how to do so, hosts a birthday party for his boyfriend. Does it go well? That's to be discovered





[ sandalphon's made the best arrangements he could, making it clear that the angel's put a lot of effort into this party, despite not understanding the custom like most do. the party is mostly held indoors to avoid the heat, but the outside gardens were decorated all the same to match corrin's general preferences. from string lights hung across both venues to the dinnerware almost being pulled out of a fantasy book, corrin's party was ready to begin.

the party's main attraction was corrin's cake, painstakingly baked and decorated for the birthday boy from his boyfriend. a whole day and a couple of burnt fingers later resulted in a stunning four tier cake with several edible flowers decorating the sides. the surrounding area was meant to be an area for guests to leave any gifts they had brought for corrin, but they were also free to simply give the gift directly to him instead.

the buffet table was littered with finger food, with small plates available to the side for the partygoer to load up as much as they can. the table also has entrees for those whose appetites lean on the bigger side, if they do not wish to indulge on the snacks. the beverage station was filled with icy cold drinks as well, but there was an odd addition for such a summery themed party: coffee. if asked, sandalphon will easily whip up a fresh cup of coffee; hot, iced, and everything in between.

off to the side, there was a pokemon play area: for those who couldn't dare leave their pokemon at home, they are free to find themselves playing with sandalphon's pokemon, who are more than gleeful to bring joy to any new possible friends. the area was a vast field surrounded by plants and flowers, with a large shade tree providing solace from the fiery sun. water pokemon even have a pool available to them to enjoy.

all in all, it's time to wish corrin a happy birthday! ]

i. for that i'll wait, with tears on my face

[ he may be hosting the party, but that doesn't mean he's all smiles and joy. there was always the secret fear that he might drive people away. maybe it was for the better-- he wouldn't have to face the fact that he may accidentally get himself angry and ruin all his hard work. that thought alone made everything suck even worse, and to bury those emotions, he buried himself in hosting work. if he can see corrin's smile just once during this entire event, everything would be worth it.

from rearranging decorations to making sure the table is filled with food, sandalphon was running around the venue just to be sure everything was to his standard. it had to be, because corrin deserved the best. the only time he took a break was when he was beside the coffee maker, where he finally took a moment for himself to breathe and center himself with his favorite drink of all time.

if he hears someone claim they want coffee, however, his face brightens up almost immediately. ]

[ there was two things that sandalphon planned to do for corrin on his birthday: one, give him a show by singing, but the second was a lot more subtle. it wasn't exactly time for gift giving, nor was it time for the presentation, but it was time for him to take a small break. he manages to find corrin within the crowd, and just manages to bump shoulders with him with a small smile to his face. he's worked himself to the bone, he doesn't have energy for much else. ]

[It wouldn't be like Radley to ignore an open invitation to a party. He tries to reach out to all the displaced people. He arrives on his bicycle with six Pokemon. Evie sees the play area and makes a beeline for it, warbling in joy. Four others follow her, but Cosmo the Ralts still clings to Radley as he gets off the bike.]

You don't wanna join them? It looks fun.

[Cosmo mumbles and just hugs Radley around the neck. He pats her hands and turns to the cake.]

Wow, this is impressive work! It looks professional.

[He sets his gift in the surrounding area.]

Thank you. It's taken a lot of work.

[ sandalphon did do his best to make sure it was up to corrin's standard, so of course he ran himself ragged doing so. did he care that he might be exhausted until later? nope. ]

I can imagine! You could open a catering business if you felt like it.

[Cosmo shifts a bit to look up at everything, but stays clinging to Radley's neck.]

I hope it's okay if Cosmo doesn't go to the play area. She doesn't wanna leave me, but she won't be any trouble.

[ there is a very excited happy dragon throwing his arms around Sandalphon in a great big hug. who cares if there are people around. it's his birthday! ]

That's an understatement! I still can't believe you did all this! For me! Ah ... Sandalphon. [ he kisses him and can hear a few ooooooohhh-s happening behind him, which makes him laugh and shyly bury his head into the angel's neck. ] ... I love you so much.

[ sandalphon hums in appreciation when corrin wraps his arms around him, laughing lightly. how sweet. it was all about corrin, after all. he wanted the best and only the best for him. ]

Well I love you more! [ he's not letting go. not yet. nope. ] Seriously, this is just too amazing! All this for me ... I feel so undeserving.

[How is it that Allura's known Sandalphon for half a year and is only NOW realizing how much of a caffeine fiend he is?]

Ah... yes please, just a small cup with cream and sugar.

[Allura's learned too well from Pidge and Shiro's coffee habits that too much actual coffee will make her jittery from the inside out the rest of the day.]

Of course, hold just a moment!

[ sandalphon had gotten a knack of understanding people's coffee orders through serving some at cafes, details or no. allura's order was simple, but elegant-- fitting, he thinks as he pours freshly brewed coffee into the awaiting cup. adding the rest of the elements was quick work, and within seconds sandalphon handed her the cup with a gentle smile on his face. ]

Here you are. Today's coffee is a medium roast blend, with more herbal notes than normal. Enjoy.

Despite being Sandalphon's traveling companion, Shrike doesn't really know his boyfriend. They'd talked a time or two over the network, and that was about it. Still, though, he wants to do the right thing for Sandalphon's sake, and he was invited, so here he is.

That said, he's still not very good at this whole socializing thing, so expect to mostly find the shy kid in a Togekiss hood lingering off to the side somewhere, watching more than actively participating himself. It's fine, surely.

[Radley sees Shrike and goes over with a smile. He knows Shrike isn't much for socializing, but he wants to greet the kid anyway.]

Well, Shrike does glance up at least when he's addressed.

His social skills are still pretty lacking, though.

Time for you to get to know Sandalphon's boyfriend, Shrike! Corrin recognises the figure he was looking for after Sandalphon had advised him to go and say hi. And how could be possibly refuse? He loves making friends!

"Hi, there!" He calls out happily, wearing a bright radiant smile on his face. Quite the polar opposite to how Sandy looks on the regular! While he appears excitable, there is a soft and gentle volume to his voice to ensure that he doesn't frighten his guest. He wanted to make a good impression, after all!

"Shrike, is it? I'm so excited to finally meet you!"

"Huh?"

Shrike's initial reaction to being addressed like that is surprise, but he quickly recovers, at least. And then very quickly realizes that there's really only one person here likely to make that sort of comment.

"Oh, are you Corrin?"

[Allura's more than a little tired in a good way after the festival, but it's definitely worth it to come here, and it was really sweet of the two to invite her. Along with the gifts Jirachi left under her pillow last night, Allura made a quick stop by the Goldenrod Department Store to pick up a little extra for the birthday boy. She's about to set her gift down when she spots Corrin not too far off.]

Pokemon Play Area

[ While Fluttershy was grateful to receive an invitation for Corrin's party, she still can't help feeling a little nervous around large crowds. Thankfully the play area had a lot of breathing room, and she had a lot of fun letting her Pokemon out to roam around and interact with the others.

So whenever it got a bit too noisy inside, Fluttershy would slip outside to decompress with the Pokemon out there. ]

Birthday gift (closed to Corrin)

[ Fluttershy does still spend a good amount of time inside, mostly looking out for the birthday boy himself. Once she spots him she heads over. ]

Pokemon Play Area

[Radley comes out from time to time to check on his other Pokemon in the play area. He happens to see Fluttershy on one occasion and smiles at her.]

[Evie and the others he brought run over to him and happily rub and cuddle. Cosmo the Ralts slowly climbs down from his back, but stays clinging to his pants leg as she greets her friends. Radley pets the Pokemon lovingly.]

[ As his Pokemon rush over, Fluttershy can't help a laugh as she reaches over and pets them. ]

General

Sion has only spoken to Sandalphon briefly--and the birthday boy himself not at all--but an invitation is an invitation, and besides, it seems only right to get to know a neighbor who's also apparently settled down in Ecruteak City. So here he is, dressed nicely but not too formally, and while he certainly plans to make a point of greeting both the one hosting the party and the one it's for, he'll of course stop to speak with anyone else he happens across.

Oh, and he did bring a gift, too. Nothing fancy, just a set of assorted soaps and such safe for use on Pokémon and/or effective at cleaning up after Pokémon, along with a note detailing where more can be found locally. He's very familiar with having to clean up after Pokémon in and around the house, after all.


Buffet Table

Even now, Sion tends not to eat more than strictly necessary, but that doesn't mean he can't admire the set up. And it truly is quite a spread, apparently not just stopping at snacks but providing enough for one to make an entire meal, were one so inclined. Still, though, there's one thing that earns a raised eyebrow from him...

"Coffee?"

That's certainly not a typical choice of beverage offering!


Play Area

Of course, this being an outing means Sion's brought at least a few Pokémon along who can be trusted to behave themselves, just to give them a change of pace. So at any given moment he might be accompanied by a Leafeon, Furfrou, Houndoom, Cincinno, or Absol. Besides his ever-present Absol starter with the absolite dangling from a decorative collar, of course.

Suffice it to say, there are far more members of his team back home than he could bring along, but it's still nice to give some of them a chance to meet and play with new people and their 'mons.
