round one | what the hell happened here
Who: Rock Howard and you!
When: August/September
Where: Mom's House / New Bark Town / Route 29
Summary: Getting his bearings and wow does he not know a thing.
Warnings?: None for now!
i. mom's house
[ waking up in a stranger's home is one thing. it's another thing to be surrounded by all sorts of strangers in a stranger's home. rock had to muffle a scream, managing to keep himself together as to not look like a weirdo, but his face says it all. dear lord, what the hell was all this??? ]
I have... so many questions right now.
[ though he doubts anyone will answer him. rock makes his way to the kitchen, trying to keep to himself, especially as he makes his way through "mom's" pantry. he tries not to make the most noise, even though he does indeed bump into people on occasion. if he does, all you get is a mumbled 'sorry'. ]
ii. new bark town
[ he's one of the last people to leave mom's house, and he can't help but wonder what was that all about. sure, seeing people was one thing, but seeing swarms of creatures attacking said strangers and all the cries of "i missed you too" made the teen feel just all the more confused. but he doubts most people would give him any sort of day, if they were like the people he met in the KOF tournaments.
the only exceptions to that were shun'ei and isla, and even his own teammates. so there he was, in his own little corner, looking at a growlithe with a neutral look. ]
Looks like you're the little guy whose stuck with me, huh? [ a small smile. ] Welcome to team Garou, little guy.
[ a bark of approval. rock already likes his new pokemon. ]
iii. route 29
[ rock follows the crowd for the most part. he keeps to the back of the pack, really trying his best to look casual, as if he knew what he was doing for the most part. he doesn't, but acting the part was the key to actually learning. he has his nose stuffed into the trainer handbook, but... a lot of things still fly over his head. ]
So we catch these pokemon, to train them and make sure they... get stronger? So we're teachers?
[ he's still trying to make heads or tails on the entire thing. ]
iv. network (text, un: flybynightwolf)
Can anyone explain why weapons are banned here? It makes no sense.
[ totally not a weird thing to ask. ]
v. wildcard!
[ throw whatever at me! or plot with me over on plurk or discord!
divinereaper or naoto#0929 ]

Or, to look at it another way, perhaps it was easier to simply ban a list of weapons than deal with all the specifics.

Action
Riz (because that is obviously who this is) is clutching a steaming #1 MOM mug in one hand, his other hand clutching a bag of instant coffee that he pulls closer to his body when Rock opens the door of the cupboard.]
Can I help you?
no subject
I would like that instant coffee in your hands, yeah.
[ the deadpan in his voice definitely indicates he's not okay with that attitude. ]
no subject
Oh no. No way. I've just gone without coffee for six fucking weeks. You'll have to pry these from my cold dead fingers if you want them.
no subject
keyword being tries. ]
Listen kid, I'm not above knocking a brat out, so just behave and give me the coffee, and maybe I won't leave you with a black eye or two.

[It had been tough to decide who to box and who to keep with her, but Astrid reassured herself with a reminder that the pokemon seemed totally comfortable in their balls and, in turn, the PC system.
Abbadon is trotting next to the two of them, and slowing their progress by stopping to sniff at every single thing in their path. She supposes she can't blame him - the Arcanine had just been moved into a world wholly unfamiliar to him.
A trend with this place, it seems.]

Trainers? So we're supposed to be in charge of multiple of these strange creatures?
[ his own growlithe gives rock a bark, as if agreeing with the stranger's words. he would definitely appreciate new friends, and for rock to get stronger too. ]
... That definitely sounded like a yes.

[She shifts her bag around so she can rummage in it, and tosses him an empty pokeball.]
Wanna give catching a try?
no subject
[ just like fighting, for him and other south town residents back home. he's got a lot to think about, that's for sure.
when he's tossed a pokeball, he catches it without even looking. he realizes what he's done, and has the presence of mind enough to blush lightly. whoops. but then again, do people even care? ]
Sure...? The little guy could use the practice, honestly.
[ the growlithe started barking excitedly. yes please, let him fight!!! ]
i
So when Rock bumps into her, she's quick to wave off the apology. ] No, that's my fault. Sorry about that.
no subject
You sure? I wasn't looking... but then again, I don't even know where I am...
no subject
You...don't? Oh wait, so you weren't here before everything happened?
no subject
Uh, no? Did something happen before I came here?

Yes, the saddle is sitting on flames. No, it's not burning up. Somehow. He turns to look around, and spots someone he doesn't recognize with a single Pokémon. It looks similar to the fiery puppies he's seen a few of so far, but different...hm. Interesting. ]
Did you just land here?
no subject
Yeah, I did. Why, is it kind of obvious?
[ he hoped it wasn't. ]
no subject
I'm new too. But I don't remember seeing you back where we just came from...we were all trapped about a hundred and fifty years in the past. But I landed there, so I've never been to this 'present' before.
[ His own team's pretty small too. ]
Apparently we're supposed to travel, build teams of Pokémon, and make lives here. Most people do that by battling, but some are breeders. Or other business owners.
no subject
[ but finally, good information! rock takes a moment to process everything before replying. ]
By the sounds of that, making relationships and teams is what's most important... great. [ not his best subject, but whatever. ] There has to be some way to make this easier.

New Bark Town
And Godric is very curious of the Pokémon that looks similar to him that he wants to play with him.)
Hi there, are you new to Jotho too? This is also my first time being in here.
Growl, Growlithe, Growl!
I’m reallt sorry if my Growlithe is a bit energetic right now. He is just that excited to meet new people and Pokémon.
no subject
[ a question for the ages.
the growlithe in question sees the hisuian growlithe, and starts barking happily, as if meeting an old friend. of course, it was only because it was another growlithe, and it wanted to have fun with one of its same species. the pokemon rushes over to play, grinning all the way.
his trainer, however, sighs. ]
That's the third time he's run off... I'm sorry about him.
no subject
Growl, Growlithe, Growl! Growl-lithe!
Hey, that’s okay: my Growlithe sometimes wanders off to places too. He is a bit too curious for a Growlithe from Hisui.
no subject
he felt as if he stepped into a minefield, actually. ]
Yeah, that would explain the crowded house... [ he hums. ] But whoever brought you all there could've planned it out a little better.
[ a blink. ] That's the name of the place you went to? [ rock looks at the two growlithes. ] Huh... they look so different, yet I can see the similarities.
